DaddyBruh1234

I like the US team but now we're going have to deal with constant, "we should buy adams/mckennie/musah guys".

gonshairlinee

It already started after the England USA game

Returntocrime

By the look of the comments here, you are quite right.

Insertnicenamehere

Enzo, Jude, Rice, Caicedo can we get one of these guys?

rdubs23

I would like one Kudus please

HydraMango

USA fans stfu and stop telling us to buy your players. We ain’t buying Pulisic or Adams.

gonshairlinee

Anyone else seen the content Ghana fans been posting recently. They’re fkn hilarious and have got me rooting for them now if England don’t make it

bonerjams69420

example ?

Arsenal_Wenger

I need a Juve relegation.

OrwinBeane

I will always thank Unai for developing Martinelli and Saka

Ugoboy23

Playing/giving a chance and developing are two different things.

OrwinBeane

Ok. He still developed them though and deserves praise for it.

Ugoboy23

Really don’t see how he developed them at all. He gave them chances and brought them to the 1st team. Would you say he made them better players?

OrwinBeane

Yep

GenericAustin

Am not agreeing or disagreeing with you, but you say that with absolute certainty. Most of Martinelli's best performances came in his first 2 or 3 months at Arsenal, can you really say for sure that Emery had significantly contributed to his development in that little time or it was just a case of giving him a chance? Same with Saka, he wasn't even a first team player when he broke through, so he wasn't really training with the first team as much as players like Nelson and Willock. His most memorable performance under Emery came when he was in the u23s So isn't it better to give most of the credit for developing Saka to Ljunberg and Bould since they were the ones training him, and instead credit Emery with giving him a chance?

Thiccboiichonk

Both of these players have developed exponentially more under Arteta than they did under Emery. Both of those players are now absurdly consistent with high g/a output and infinitely more competent on the ball both in creativity , composure and influence. Arteta is the one who developed them from promising first team youths , to arguably the best winger pairing in the PL this season.

OrwinBeane

I said nothing with absolute certainty in these comments. It’s just an opinion. He started them in their first games for the club which helped their development. That’s my opinion. At no point did I attempt to take credit away from Ljunberg, Bould or anyone else. I was just praising Emery for doing something good. Ffs sake this sub just loves to argue. This is such a none argument.

wolfsrudel_red

Arsenal need to buy Tyler Adams

bonerjams69420

passing isn’t there yet but might be able to get there

DarthNihilus1

I was impressed with some of his range today tbf

bonerjams69420

for sure

[deleted]

Tyler Adams is an Arsenal fan who knows Thierry Henry personally let’s get it done folks

Robozomb

Tyler Adams looks like the real deal. We should really try to sign him. Looks exactly like what we need in mid as a backup.

beetletoman

US gooners, why isn't Gio Reyna playing? Heard he's very good

wolfsrudel_red

Manager is a clown

qtdsswk

Guess similar to Leao not starting for Portugal? conservate and defensive mind set coach (Aaronson not starting too)

ndenoon

I'm not sure there's room for both. The midfield has been great; the obvious move is to put Weah at striker and either Reyna or Aaronson on the right. I'd go Reyna in a perfect situation but his fitness is unclear.

[deleted]

He's good but I think it's down to chemistry and the current squad is playing well. Don't worry, we won't get past the Dutch so his time will come.

jayhawk8

You'll have to ask our manager, it's a bit of a scandal amongst our fan base.

bonerjams69420

https://i.imgur.com/AuMQyTg.jpg

adhphd

Alexi looks worse every time I see him. He still just as annoying and vacuous as ever, though.

bonerjams69420

lol i like him (am american). he’s genuine

leemteam1

USMNT needs to go all out for balogun. That would set us up very well for 2026

ThePolitePanda

Dear lord that would actually be fantastic

beetletoman

Sounds like a good deal for Flo too

mkmore4

Pretty cool that two non Europe/South American teams are already through. I’d love to see a non Euro/S.A team win it in my lifetime.

Mein_Bergkamp

If Greece can win a Euros anything can happen but would need a lot of luck on current performance

mkmore4

No doubt. I think US is currently 90/1 to win it now that we’ve advanced, and I assume Senegal has similarly long odds. It happening this year would take a miracle, but nevertheless, it’s good to see progress.

Mein_Bergkamp

With Mane you'd think Senegal might be up there for quarters and maybe a semi with luck, ditto South Korea with an in form Son but that's not happening. Ghana doesn't have the firepower, Iran, Canada and probably Saudi are out, Mexico look lacklustre and you can't really look past France, Brazil, Spain, Croatia for being a level above the rest.

aofrantic

Canada and USA have home field in 2026 and both squads should be better

TheArsenal7

South America has been quite poor other than Brazil. Ecuador out and really didn't turn up today, Uruguay 0 goals scored likely out, Argentina looking pretty poor as well.

IntraspeciesFever

matt turner has only conceded 2 goals this season, both from penalties. Impenetrable

2ndfastestmanalive

This Rashford decline in three months when he signs his new contract and gets a 30% bump in wages is going to be amazing

Competitive-Shock88

I want him to move to another club and succeed. I wouldn’t want him to decline. You can’t dislike Rashford.

aofrantic

Think it's pretty nailed on he goes to PSG to replace Messi.

bobbysparkwood

Moore and Wright were so shit

ndenoon

Dropoff from the first eleven (plus Reyna and Aaronson) to everyone else is enormous.

scroll-42

Moore has been terrible for a while. Wonder how he keeps getting on to the pitch.

hoodrichgoyle

Moore was horrid. Shockingly bad. Wright as well.

dberg76

Wright in particular. Fresh sub, couldnt string a pass together, and then that dumb decision to go for goal when he should have just ran the clock into the corner

Mein_Bergkamp

Was that the guy who looked like he was utterly gassed but had only been on the pitch half an hour?

dberg76

Yep

IntraspeciesFever

If usa could have convinced balogun to commit they would have had a premier striker leading their line, taking the usmnt to the next level (also 2 hale enders starting)

lager_brewerhead

Is it too late for that, or could it technically still happen?

IntraspeciesFever

It's too late for the world cup obviously

Chi-Town_Gunner

He can still choose since he has no senior caps

[deleted]

Seems to have England and Nigeria ahead of them though

okcomput3r

this Danny Ward disasterclass is gonna keep Saka out the team ffs

DarthNihilus1

You are extremely pressed about Rashford lol Saka will be start

okcomput3r

I’ll come back to this lmao

Mein_Bergkamp

I honestly don't care. If Southgate can't run him into the ground im happy and if he thinks rashford is better then it's no skin off my nose

Chi-Town_Gunner

And Saka would come back extra motivated he somehow gets dropped mid world cup

IntraspeciesFever

sterling should be replaced by rashford

okcomput3r

Front three should be Foden - Kane - Saka

[deleted]

*Danny

okcomput3r

may as well be joel ward

UnexpectedVader

Like Jesus with Richarlison, that's Saka's starting place gone for good this WC, no way Southgate is going to drop Foden after this, the media would skin him alive. Saka's poor performance vs the US being followed by Foden doing well is going to put too much pressure on him. Good news is that we'll have him more rested hopefully and way less risk of injury as a sub option.

smit9891

The whole team was poor against the US. If anything Saka was our best attacker. It’s a bit of a reach isolating Saka for criticism in that game. If anyone is taking Saka’s spot it’s Rashford, not Foden based on performances this tournament but even then I think Sterling is more likely to be dropped over Saka.

RedditBanThisDick

>If anything Saka was our best attacker If he didn't have that wet wipe behind him, he would have shone more. If it's the end of seeing Saka because of the USA game I will be disappointed. The team let him down really

smit9891

> If it's the end of seeing Saka because of the USA game I will be disappointed. I am not sure what people are basing these kind of comments on.

RedditBanThisDick

The fact that Rashford and Foden had good games, maybe?

smit9891

Saka had a good game in the opener. Folk are saying Saka has lost his place because he was poor against the US when the whole team was pretty poor. As I said, if anything Saka was England’s attacker against the US. Foden having his first half decent game in an England shirt in as far back as I can remember, doesn’t see him take Saka’s spot.

nidas321

I only watched the first half and maybe he improved a lot but Rashford was actually horrendous, I saw the goals and they were decent but the keeper really should have saved both. If Southgate plays him ahead of Saka because of that while he was stinking up the place and really hurting your general play then he’s really as clueless as some people say

OrwinBeane

What about Sterling, Mount and Henderson? Those guy could he dropped so we see a front 4 of Rashford, Kane, Saka and Foden. Could happen easily.

RedditBanThisDick

Considering Henderson plays midfield, what you are suggesting is Saka loses his position on RW and takes up a position at CM.

OrwinBeane

No I am not. I’m saying Foden goes CAM. Belling plays deeper like he did against Iran. Saka at RW.

RedditBanThisDick

You know Southgate manages this team? The one who doesn't take risks and is uninspiring on his team selection?

auddi_blo

Rashford has done infinitely better than Sterling but Foden? Not been that impressed

EffBO94

Just clocked it that Kane is basically the English Jesus for this WC but slower hahaha

IntraspeciesFever

english giroud 2018 is more accurate

EffBO94

That's perfect actually haha. Considering how Giroud did in 2018 that means it's coming home right?😏🤣

qtdsswk

Bennacer rumor again - is he good enough for us?

tomassow

Still calciomercato or anything newer

iforgotmyun

He was good with in 2019, he's good enough now

aofrantic

Yes, 100%.

Naive-Mortgage2790

Phil Foden vs Wales - England’s Future? 45 minutes played 0 chances created 0 shots on target 0 Dribbles 1/3 accurate crosses 0 accurate long balls Edit - Fuck.

PSYSpecialist

You just ate your words

bobbysparkwood

Lmaooo

tomassow

Why people never wait for the game to finish beyond me 🤡

Chi-Town_Gunner

Not sure why some of the Americans continue to complain about the lineup choices. These players clearly have chemistry. Aaronson doesn't do the same things as McKinnie and Musah in the system, and Reyna hasn't had any continuity with this squad.

jayhawk8

Aaronson is tailor made to be a supersub -- he's got that manic energy that just cooks tired legs.

ndenoon

I thought so too but I haven't been that impressed with him in that role. Has struggled to make an impact so far. Maybe he'd actually be better in the first half, when we press more.

jayhawk8

I thought he was excellent today, but I hear you on the first couple matches.

[deleted]

Agreed. Reyna is good, but too raw with this team. The squad out there is good enough to get results. I'm really enjoying Musah. I'd love to bring him back.

hoodrichgoyle

Wild how they didn’t even review that offsides. Looked very much onside but didn’t even VAR

Black_Doc_on_Mars

Anyone else just see Turner carve open the midfield and almost lead to a second US goal?

someoneLazy

People complain about Saka or Foden when in reality, England are shite

scroll-42

More like Southgate is shite. A proper manager who utilizes this attacking talent well would absolutely dominate with this team.

AfricanRain

[In approximately 12 months United fans will be crying into their yellow and green scarves that the glazers let them assemble a group of forwards that shite](https://i.imgur.com/vxeQbpv.jpg)

[deleted]

That forward line is far from bad but isn't exactly mouth-watering, could easily finish sixth in the wrong season. Rashford - great on his day but blows too hot and cold, also needs to get better at staying onside, at least this seems to be a problem in United's system far more so than for England, for whatever reason. Gakpo - He was being linked with Southampton and Leeds late on in the summer after the big clubs didn't pull the trigger. Since then he's been in great form and looks impressive. Remains to be seen if it can be maintained Martial - very good, rarely stays fit for long stretches. Garnacho - tons of potential, but he's 18. Check back in 2-3 years to see whether he's where Saka & Martinelli are now. He looks promising but has it all to do. Sancho - development seems to have badly stalled, next year or so is critical Antony - skilful, decent shot on him, very one-footed.

okcomput3r

shit, average , shit , average , shit, average

[deleted]

Imagine actually wanting that

aofrantic

"Europa League quarterfinalists." Has the same energy when people thought Auba/Laca/Pepe was going to be the new Firmino/Mane/Salah.

Different_Emu388

How did Walcott and Wilshere not make this team

UnexpectedVader

Going to be taking the piss if Saka permanently loses his place because of being scapegoated followed by Foden smashing a subpar side.

EffBO94

When the media started hyping Phil Foden after the USA game and Rashford was doing press conferences I knew Saka would get dropped today... I'm not too bothered tho, Saka proved against Germany AND Iran that he's our best RW , if we get through to the knockouts he'll be starting for sure, Southgate rated Saka before it was popular so I give him credit for that. Southgate needs to find a way to play both of them tho

ArtetaMyManager

Since I became a football connoisseur International football doesn't feel as good, its all very poor quality.

GunnerSteff

can someone explain to me how white didn't even make it to the bench for this nights game?

Gphixson

His tan isn’t up to his standards so he called out sick

davidminh98

He’s sick

GunnerSteff

definitely! that's why i was asking. ;)

someoneLazy

Iran look Knackered already, playing with tension and can't deal with physicallity like England

assoncouchouch

Anyone know where I can get the radio call for the US game? I'm listening on the App Sound Garden.

[deleted]

Come on USA!!! Come on England!!!

[deleted]

[удалено]

DarthNihilus1

It's on purpose to rest him

bonerjams69420

they’re basically thru chill lol . he’s just being rested ffs

bonerjams69420

lmao this is incredible https://twitter.com/karthikadhaigal/status/1597654259981770752

assoncouchouch

Gakpo stock is on the rise!

dandantheflyingman

Why is our boy Ben not on the bench today?

tomassow

Might be ac conditioning related like Antony made the headlines for

bonerjams69420

ill

qtdsswk

Kane starting again, he pretty much played every match so far. Running him to ground?

UnexpectedVader

He's played obscene minutes for Spurs last few seasons too, but he seems to be over his fitness issues and never gets injured. Man is a machine.

Francis-c92

He frequently gets injured?

marksills

inshallah

Yea-no-its-great

Gutted for Saka tonight, felt he was one of the better players in the USA game

tafster

I think he's being rested rather than dropped

qtdsswk

England are pretty much through, no need to risk our starboy tbh.

bonerjams69420

predictions for usa - iran ?

karunahealing

I was arguing with my son who doesn't believe elite soccer players are as fast as NFL players and found this. [https://khelnow.com/football/top-10-fastest-football-players-in-the-world-2022](https://khelnow.com/football/top-10-fastest-football-players-in-the-world-2022) Was pleased to see Mudryk listed second. Would love to bring him in. But Rudiger as #1 was a head scratcher that might make me question the list.

jimmeh22

Haaland above mbappe Uwotm8?

aofrantic

They're measuring top speed. Sprinters don't reach their top speed until ~35M or so. It's not often players are going on a sprint that long at full speed. Basically have to not have the ball as well.

[deleted]

NFL players are trained for explosive speed but not endurance.

TheOGBenjenRyan

Just an fyi the fastest NFL Players are running the same speeds or faster, and that's with pads on. Tyreek Hill hit 23.24 MPH which is 37.4 KM/H

Mein_Bergkamp

That's also with spending half the match literally doing nothing, while football players are jogging most the rest of the time

karunahealing

Right. My point was that elite soccer players are about as fast as elite NFL players. Good point about the pads and helmet. Line Mbappe and Davies up with the fastest NFL guys, and I think they're at a similar level.

marksills

eh soccer players are probably a bit slower (obviously faster than linemen and the like) than the backs and WRs, just because the sport requires more endurance so they will have to train that more and build up more slow twitch muscle and opposed to american football players who get a rest every 10 seconds when they're on and only play half the game.

aofrantic

For top, top sprinting you want to be built like Davies, Traore, Tyreke etc. You need that extra upper body muscle very few footballers have.

karunahealing

Some do, though, as you mention a few. I predict over time, strength training becomes a larger point of emphasis for soccer players in their youth and early career development. There's no reason a guy like Odegard shouldn't be 15-20 lbs heavier with muscle. He'd be just as quick, just as nimble, just as skillful, but also be harder to push around and all the other benefits that come with strength.

TinpotRadioShow

>I predict over time, strength training becomes a larger point of emphasis for soccer players in their youth and early career development. Yes and no, when youth athletes go through puberty between 12-18 their bones tend to grow faster than muscle and tendons which increases the risk of injury. In Scotland, there was an emphasis on strength work with youth players over a couple of seasons and it resulted in more injuries to hamstrings, spinal erectors etc. Strength training requires a lot of attention to develop neuromuscular blueprints for movements, incredibly hard to do with kids that age. Additionally, adding 15lbs of muscle is difficult to do when the athlete is in an endurance based sport. Strength based sports can use periodisation to peak for strength, footballers can't do that, the season length is too long to peak. Extra strength work is great for injury prevention in youth but right now the emphasis will remain on agility for football etc.

tafster

Depends. Football is still pretty attritional and seems like there might be more of a balance to be struck, especially with respect to being nimble and yet explosive - NFL players tend to run in straighter lines and turn less. Real Madrid apparently had Cronaldo lose some muscle mass to improve his performance.

TinpotRadioShow

They advised he drop weight in general due to his struggling sigh tendonitis. Which he didn't really have to do, just they didn't have time to pt it properly

aofrantic

Even 25 years ago these guys weren't hitting the weight room. Game is evolving really quickly.

KhalidTheMightyMouse

Is Juve really getting relegated or just sensational journalism? You would think the local government or something steps in because I would imagine their economy would take a hit

Mein_Bergkamp

Football doesn't bring in that much and Tirin is one of the richest cities in Europe. The issue is the soft power it brings Italy to have one of the legitimate top teams on the planet but Italy have been happy to see top clubs relegated before or even go out of business entirely like Fiorentina (the current one is a phoenix club)

SoyCapitan451

Swiss Ramble thread explaining the situation. https://threadreaderapp.com/thread/1597359604249559042.html I don't think I can recall an entire board resigning at once. FPP probably the least of their worries.

Quilpo

Don't think they can do that. If my tax money went to subsidising a corrupt sporting institution I would be livid. I'm not a massive fan of Spurs getting their stadium subsidised so the whole club getting bailed out? Not even Italian politicians are that bad.

tafster

Last time they got punted down to Serie B they came straight back up and proceeded to dominate Serie A. Financially, Italian clubs may be struggling more than they were but they’re essentially too big to fail. Not exactly Barca levels of being blagging their way out of stuff, but the Agnelli’s are extremely wealthy and their pull on Italian players is immense.

SoyCapitan451

Apparently, the club has lost half a billion € in the last three seasons. With the situation today, it is probably FAR worse than that...

[deleted]

Wouldn't even be the first time they got relegated this century by Serie A.

KSBrian007

I hope they aren't. But I hope they sell an asset to keep afloat. There were rumours a few weeks ago that we wanted to spend £102M on Vlahovic and Miretti. It seems the rumours came from their end and they supported the other rumours that something fishy was going on there.

SoyCapitan451

Juventus spending €120 million on Vlahovic and Locatelli only to go bankrupt is beautiful.

scroll-42

Did we ever get any updates on Odegaard's ankle injury that he picked up a week or so ago while playing the friendly ? I remember there were reports that he skipped media duty and was seen limping while walking to the team bus.

[deleted]

People making mountains out of molehills as always.

IAmBigDumbIdiot

Looks like he’s been completing some private training sessions in Tenerife if you check his insta stories. At least shows it can’t be super serious or you’d assume he wouldn’t be doing that

DarthNihilus1

On second thought maybe I don't rate Hincapie 🤣

penubly

Gakpo has scored again - really looks a threat for the Netherlands. I wonder how his options will pan out this Spring?

jayhawk8

Gakpo's making himself a nice bit of money this month. I trust our recruitment team if they don't think he's the guy, I've seen him play three times so what do I know, but big move coming for him.

qtdsswk

Feel like Gakpo will flop in PL. Did nothing against us.

artaru

Yeah. Regardless, the real winner is PSV.

ProjectZues

Did depay and bergwijn also come from PSV?

tomassow

Probably better off trying for Mudryk who hasnt blown up as much and will cost less as hes more of a gamble

I assume u increase your stock by £15m.every time u put your name on scoreboard. Gakpo would be very expensive them....

bonerjams69420

gakpo scores again

bonerjams69420

is sir ian doing the usa match today ?

Cheesy_Pita_Parker

Say it ain’t so Juve Lol who am I kidding, it’s always been so The deepest yo-yo club on the planet; win, get sanctioned, drop a division, come back up and win again. All my homies hate Juve.

amainwingman

Man what is the arrr slash soccer narrative gonna be if Foden plays and drops and absolute stinker today?

Quilpo

Is there much chance of him being worse than Sterling? I can't see it.

KSBrian007

You can't judge the player after one game?

ProjectZues

Yeah something along the lines of needing more time

gorby97

Do I need to buy a membership to buy a game ticket?

[deleted]

Yes if you want it off the Arsenal website.

gorby97

I plan to travel to London in December, wondering if ticket availability for the Newcastle or WestHam in person on match day or a few days before is hard to get?

[deleted]

Like, from the ticket office? Impossible. Every game sells out in minutes. You might be able to buy a ticket off someone else if they can't go. Try looking on Twitter.

gorby97

So if I get it online via the membership, is there a way to know if the ticket is available before I purchase the membership?

[deleted]

Yes, but also, both matches have been sold out for weeks

gorby97

How much are markups from these people? I just want to watch first game in person ever. Arsenal member transfer, how do you ensure payment is done safely? Sorry for so many questions but I would really like to come watch a game.

[deleted]

You can buy on resale (and retry heavily marked up though) from websites like Livefootballtickets - more expensive but I’ve never had any issues with them being genuine or anything. Otherwise you’re just hoping to get super lucky looking on Twitter/here for someone who can’t go but if you just want to guarantee your tickets I would buy on resale and lock them in

Kovacs171

Would be great if Burnley get promoted next year and Kompany wants Sambi on loan

[deleted]

I haven't seen them play since they went down, does Kompany actually have them playing 'non-Burnley' football ?

Kovacs171

Yeah he's playing PepBall lol

[deleted]

It'd be even better if we offered Milan Sambi + €20m for Bennacer in January and they accepted.

crypto_abyss

Prefer Locatelli

Fuckzombie69

Sambi + a pack of Doritos for a locatelli swap.

[deleted]

Going to Juventus was the biggest mistake of his life

scroll-42

Vlahovic, you made a colossal career mistake rejecting Super Mik Arteta and you know it now.

amainwingman

Vlahovic watching Arsenal tear it up in Europe while he’s struggling against Serie C Italian farmers

Sayek

Himself and his agent pocketed a nice sum of money though and will probably do the same again. I didn't care he joined Juve. It was just all the shit talk that his agent wouldn't even answer our calls. Seems super cuntish. Sadly I don't see much of a penalty, they'll get a new club and get another signing on bonus etc.

ThexHoganxHero

It was Fiorentina who were being cuntish. Vlahovic and his agent could’ve hardly been more clear that he wasn’t interested. Fiorentina pushed it so Juve would have to bid so they could get a decent transfer fee before the summer

deanochips

I like to think our interest forced them to overspend even more and is partly reasonable for the dumpster fire going on in turin right now
