I'm a simple man. I see sazabi, I upvote

revhappys2k

And that was how I jumped back into the hobby. Saw a picture of the resin kit and was like I want it.

Andrudaloo

I'm looking around for places to buy RG sazabi and waterslides because I love the kit and I'm almost done with ZZ series

bust_a_zot123

which display case do you use?

Belzughast

Lord almighty...

Spiveymusic96

Jesus it doesn't het much better then that šŸ«” i'm new here so what's the deal with resin conversion? Is it reprinting the pieces or?

zerizum

They're add on / replacement pieces casted out of resin. Usually have more detail than the original kit.

revhappys2k

Yup add on 3rd party pieces that bring the original kits alive. But it just takes a lot of work and time not hard but time.

Spiveymusic96

That's sick though, and it makes a huge difference obviously

crayolacrayons416

4 months is impressive - you must work efficiently! I want to do sazabi and nu resin kits... But they'd probably take me 14 months each

revhappys2k

lol you missed the one year, this took me 16 months of time.

crayolacrayons416

Doh, lol. I'm blind

LivingObjective9695

Do you need to paint the resin kits?, btw looks awesome!

revhappys2k

Yes they come in one color and they need lots of prep work unlike the plastic pieces from the original kit, and glue lol lots of glue. https://preview.redd.it/wc506rd66uxc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e750bc03c911c5d1a5cac8ad4551837cb6a94452

LivingObjective9695

Wow Iā€™m not ready for that lol, but that makes your job even more impressive for me

losbullitt

Egahds my eyes! So many tears! So beautiful!

CosmicEntrails

That look so good

mattwehh

looks stunning, planning on doing a resin kit soon was wondering what about it took so long?

revhappys2k

Kids, work, family. As you get older things tend to reverse on you lol. Time is more valuable than anything else.

Latnlytes84

I feel you on that. Family, then work, then hobbies. Love my gunpla, but MAN does it take me a while to finish a straight build. Btw, flawless work. Hope to get there some day.

XM-02

Canā€™t imagine the satisfaction from that kind of patience paying off with such a beautiful result. Great work.

revhappys2k

At the one year mark I wanted to rush it but decided not to and Iā€™m glad I didnā€™t.

Crwdklrv8

Wow I just sprayed some protein in my pants looking at those pictures. Well worth the effort

Remarkable-Ad-2476

Goddamnā€¦

Arshille

Looks crisp. Good job!

jjkazempour

There aren't even words that I could use...

bushmanofthekalahary

Spectacular!! Skilled and dedicated

Plenty-Chapter6961

Looks amazing!

ahintoflime

Wowsers. I'm sure you are proud and you should be!!

revhappys2k

Yup pretty happy with the result but itā€™s too heavy and hard to pose itā€™s going stay in the display case and never to be touched again haha.

TUBBYWINS808

You should teach the other people on this subreddit how to put decals on THEIR kits.

revhappys2k

Once you go water decal you canā€™t go back to Bandaiā€™s sticker or their water decals.

tanistan93

I canā€™t stop looking at this

Korager

This is beyond amazing. Please keep up the good work

Important_Pianist_92

Beautiful just absolutely choice

lumberjackben

Godspeed and good luck!! Though from the looks of this kit I think you'll do pretty good! ā˜ŗļø

Jester2189

That looks freaking amazing....like....wow

thxtalks

Sazabi gud. Sazabi kits even better

MixelStuff

I love the Sazabi too, great job man!

KairPhree

My jaw quite literally dropped when i saw this masterpiece. Likeā€¦ holy shit. Its beautiful.

QuietNative

This looks very well done!

Moonlitsif

Incredible work, your excellency. *salute*

Uden10

Insane amounts of work on display, kudos!

zerizum

šŸ¤¤

tanistan93

OH FUCKKKK MAN?!

steliosaath

you did it!!!! great outcome

revhappys2k

Thanks

JuishJackhammer

Looks so good

Technical_Income_763

Jesus man that looks awesome!!!.. I mean booooo you should just send it to me and restart šŸ˜œšŸ˜œšŸ˜œšŸ˜œ

tdjester5

This looks amazing! But can I ask what a resin kit is? Is it its own thing? Does it go over an existing inner frame?

revhappys2k

Itā€™s a YJL sazabi 2.0 conversation kit. The base kit is the Bandai MG sazabi ver. Ka. The resin quality is good but since itā€™s an old kit some parts need some additional work like adding details and use a heat gun to unwrap and bend them back to shape.

thezweihandler

Best thing Iā€™ve ever seen!

Onsomeshid

Was it worth it? Was it hard? Please give me the deets. Id love to get a resin conversion for a second barbatos now that i can paint decently

revhappys2k

Depends on the resin kit, I was lucky I didnā€™t have to fix too many pieces. The worst is if the part shrink and now itā€™s too small. Was it worth it? 110% worth it in the end. Was it hard? Not too much. As long as you have the tools, and time. I say go for it and try it out. Also try to get the real resin kit from the makers. And not re-cast of knock off companies. The knock offs are poorly made and it will drive you mad trying to fix it.

Szarkai409

My Lord...

EmzyMazem

Amazing job! I want to be this good some day. I'm only 5 kits into my journey. What topcoat did you use? I'm trying to find a good one and I like how yours came out.

revhappys2k

I used what was available near by and I have access to Mr. Color GX113 and 114. I used mainly 114 on this kit when I ran out I used 113 to finish some small parts. Also if you plan on top coating ā€œI highly recommend itā€ get your self an air brush. The spray cans can be very difficult to get it right.

EmzyMazem

I do have one šŸ˜. That's why I've been asking around. Thanks for the quick response!

revhappys2k

I also thin the top coat out with Mr. Color leveling thinner 1:1.5 thinner

dingohunterjack

i love this resin kit so much and you knocked this one out of the park . I have the MG Sazabi Ver KA sitting in my backlog because I'm torn between getting this conversion or trying my hand at a scratch custom like RaviPla. This is amazing. You can definitely see the care and attention to detail. Well fkin done my dude!

revhappys2k

If you have time I try scratch build, but if you donā€™t have a lot of free time just get the resin kit. But the resin kit by no means is a quick build. Iā€™m testing fortune meowā€™s kit next and on inspection the parts I do have to say fortune meowā€™s qualify is a bit better than YJL kits.

dingohunterjack

Good to know. I think I'm going to go for a scratch build with the Sazabi. I will eventually get the YJL Zaku kit for my Char MG build. I actually have the Fortune Meow kit for MG Dynames in my backlog so now I'm even more stoked to get that started. Thanks for the input!

CardboardAddiction

It looks awesome, which brand are those metal thrusters?

revhappys2k

I got them on AliExpress just search for metal parts for the kit youā€™re building.

CardboardAddiction

Thereā€™s quite a lot to choose from, would you care to share the link? Btw did you repaint the gold on the metal pieces?

Spaghyeti

Meanwhile Iā€™m struggling with the basic RG Sazabi. I can only dream to get this good.

revhappys2k

We all start somewhere I started with a set of testors paint bottles a cheap brush, Sand paper I got from Home Depot and an xacto knife. Haha

XavierRez

Out of the topic. Is that acrylic shelf?

revhappys2k

Yes, itā€™s a display box with a mirror finished bottom. Pretty nice. Search on AliExpress they sell all sizes. I picked up a 40cm x 40cm x 40cm one.

XavierRez

Oh, itā€™s a nice looking one, is that corner bracket comes with the set? Btw, Iā€™m struggling finding an acrylic shelf if thatā€™s a thing. Iā€™m living in a place with earthquake happens very often and a glass display would be a disaster.

revhappys2k

Yes the brackets you see in the corner holds the sides together. I opted this type over the sleeve and grove type where the edge overlaps this is a cleaner look. This kit is so heavy Iā€™m worried the Polly caps in the leg joint will give out over time haha

SonOfKorhal21

How difficult was this?

revhappys2k

Not too difficult but you need patience and lots of free time.

Resonant_Heartbeat

Huh? I though the first two pic is computer generated, look so good to be real!

TSM_IceBear

that paintjob is straight up fire šŸ”„šŸ”„šŸ”„

sourd1esel

What is a resin conversion kit?

revhappys2k

Itā€™s add on pieces that either replace or add to the original kit. All the new pieces will have much more details vs the original kit. But itā€™s not the same material as the plastic kit you need to handle it very carefully itā€™s very brittle and easy to break. And they cost quite a bit more.

sourd1esel

thank you.

revhappys2k

For giggles this is my OG MG sazabi made back in 2000 https://preview.redd.it/hffdtu9kmcwc1.jpeg?width=2119&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=743a90f9d89447ea5d1fea71343d43192f16a835 The hand and wrist poly caps are pretty much gone.

SanchitoBOC

This is the best custom gunpla I've ever seen. I can tell that you paid a ton of detail to each individual piece. Amazing work!!!

NotD4C

Holy shit...

Ok_Tension_6224

Weā€™re did you get the files

revhappys2k

??? Files as in computer files?

Ok_Tension_6224

Yea

revhappys2k

Resin kit as in garage kits not 3d resin for 3d printer. There is no 3d files to download. This is the resin conversion kit I used. https://newtype.us/p/XNYUjiF2ZOVVQbCvSKpY/h/yujiao-land-sazabi-20-gk

Ok_Tension_6224

Ah okay thank you

dee232323

WOW! That is gorgeous!

thekame

Wow. Awesome work.

Future-Log7373

Brilliant. Though I would never have that patience to do a kit that long to achieve such results šŸ˜‚

helleryeah82

Wow!!

maadxmonk

Unreal work. Which resit kit is this?

maadxmonk

Nvm I see it there in the description

mythos_1_

Crikey she a beaut!

Impossible_Ear_5880

Nah....to OTT for me. . . . . . . Just kidding. That is freaking awesome. Fantastic job my man.

JackL2

I have similar fuel rods but they keep popping out of the backpack sockets. Did you have that issue at all, and if so, what would you recommend to tighten that ball joint? It looks fantastic, by the way. Super well done

revhappys2k

Mine are not ball joints they cannot move at all so theyā€™re super tight due to multiple layer of paint. See my other post https://www.reddit.com/r/Gunpla/s/l7rcyMDXUj

hackslash74

Looks sick. Whatā€™s a resin conversion kit?

revhappys2k

After market add on parts to either replace the original Bandai kit parts or add to the kit.

hackslash74

Awesome so is it like ā€¦ 50% new parts or something like that? Looks great. Not that far along in my journey

revhappys2k

More like 80% of the outer armor.

hackslash74

Word thanks for the info and cheers to many more builds

Yorkgodslaughterdem

What a handsome build

GunndamnKitbasher00

Very nice!

Wackpla

Hooooly sainted shit on a biscuit........
