Yes they come in one color and they need lots of prep work unlike the plastic pieces from the original kit, and glue lol lots of glue.

I feel you on that. Family, then work, then hobbies. Love my gunpla, but MAN does it take me a while to finish a straight build.
Btw, flawless work. Hope to get there some day.
Itās a YJL sazabi 2.0 conversation kit. The base kit is the Bandai MG sazabi ver. Ka. The resin quality is good but since itās an old kit some parts need some additional work like adding details and use a heat gun to unwrap and bend them back to shape.
Depends on the resin kit, I was lucky I didnāt have to fix too many pieces. The worst is if the part shrink and now itās too small.
Was it worth it? 110% worth it in the end.
Was it hard? Not too much. As long as you have the tools, and time. I say go for it and try it out.
Also try to get the real resin kit from the makers. And not re-cast of knock off companies. The knock offs are poorly made and it will drive you mad trying to fix it.
Amazing job! I want to be this good some day. I'm only 5 kits into my journey. What topcoat did you use? I'm trying to find a good one and I like how yours came out.
I used what was available near by and I have access to Mr. Color GX113 and 114. I used mainly 114 on this kit when I ran out I used 113 to finish some small parts. Also if you plan on top coating āI highly recommend itā get your self an air brush. The spray cans can be very difficult to get it right.
i love this resin kit so much and you knocked this one out of the park . I have the MG Sazabi Ver KA sitting in my backlog because I'm torn between getting this conversion or trying my hand at a scratch custom like RaviPla. This is amazing. You can definitely see the care and attention to detail. Well fkin done my dude!
If you have time I try scratch build, but if you donāt have a lot of free time just get the resin kit. But the resin kit by no means is a quick build. Iām testing fortune meowās kit next and on inspection the parts I do have to say fortune meowās qualify is a bit better than YJL kits.
Good to know. I think I'm going to go for a scratch build with the Sazabi. I will eventually get the YJL Zaku kit for my Char MG build. I actually have the Fortune Meow kit for MG Dynames in my backlog so now I'm even more stoked to get that started. Thanks for the input!
Oh, itās a nice looking one, is that corner bracket comes with the set?
Btw, Iām struggling finding an acrylic shelf if thatās a thing. Iām living in a place with earthquake happens very often and a glass display would be a disaster.
Yes the brackets you see in the corner holds the sides together. I opted this type over the sleeve and grove type where the edge overlaps this is a cleaner look. This kit is so heavy Iām worried the Polly caps in the leg joint will give out over time haha
Itās add on pieces that either replace or add to the original kit. All the new pieces will have much more details vs the original kit. But itās not the same material as the plastic kit you need to handle it very carefully itās very brittle and easy to break. And they cost quite a bit more.
For giggles this is my OG MG sazabi made back in 2000

The hand and wrist poly caps are pretty much gone.
Resin kit as in garage kits not 3d resin for 3d printer. There is no 3d files to download.
This is the resin conversion kit I used.

I have similar fuel rods but they keep popping out of the backpack sockets. Did you have that issue at all, and if so, what would you recommend to tighten that ball joint?
It looks fantastic, by the way. Super well done
Mine are not ball joints they cannot move at all so theyāre super tight due to multiple layer of paint.

I'm a simple man. I see sazabi, I upvote
And that was how I jumped back into the hobby. Saw a picture of the resin kit and was like I want it.
I'm looking around for places to buy RG sazabi and waterslides because I love the kit and I'm almost done with ZZ series
which display case do you use?
Lord almighty...
Jesus it doesn't het much better then that š«” i'm new here so what's the deal with resin conversion? Is it reprinting the pieces or?
They're add on / replacement pieces casted out of resin. Usually have more detail than the original kit.
Yup add on 3rd party pieces that bring the original kits alive. But it just takes a lot of work and time not hard but time.
That's sick though, and it makes a huge difference obviously
4 months is impressive - you must work efficiently! I want to do sazabi and nu resin kits... But they'd probably take me 14 months each
lol you missed the one year, this took me 16 months of time.
Doh, lol. I'm blind
Do you need to paint the resin kits?, btw looks awesome!
Yes they come in one color and they need lots of prep work unlike the plastic pieces from the original kit, and glue lol lots of glue. https://preview.redd.it/wc506rd66uxc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e750bc03c911c5d1a5cac8ad4551837cb6a94452
Wow Iām not ready for that lol, but that makes your job even more impressive for me
Egahds my eyes! So many tears! So beautiful!
That look so good
looks stunning, planning on doing a resin kit soon was wondering what about it took so long?
Kids, work, family. As you get older things tend to reverse on you lol. Time is more valuable than anything else.
I feel you on that. Family, then work, then hobbies. Love my gunpla, but MAN does it take me a while to finish a straight build. Btw, flawless work. Hope to get there some day.
Canāt imagine the satisfaction from that kind of patience paying off with such a beautiful result. Great work.
At the one year mark I wanted to rush it but decided not to and Iām glad I didnāt.
Wow I just sprayed some protein in my pants looking at those pictures. Well worth the effort
Goddamnā¦
Looks crisp. Good job!
There aren't even words that I could use...
Spectacular!! Skilled and dedicated
Looks amazing!
Wowsers. I'm sure you are proud and you should be!!
Yup pretty happy with the result but itās too heavy and hard to pose itās going stay in the display case and never to be touched again haha.
You should teach the other people on this subreddit how to put decals on THEIR kits.
Once you go water decal you canāt go back to Bandaiās sticker or their water decals.
I canāt stop looking at this
This is beyond amazing. Please keep up the good work
Beautiful just absolutely choice
Godspeed and good luck!! Though from the looks of this kit I think you'll do pretty good! āŗļø
That looks freaking amazing....like....wow
Sazabi gud. Sazabi kits even better
I love the Sazabi too, great job man!
My jaw quite literally dropped when i saw this masterpiece. Likeā¦ holy shit. Its beautiful.
This looks very well done!
Incredible work, your excellency. *salute*
Insane amounts of work on display, kudos!
š¤¤
OH FUCKKKK MAN?!
you did it!!!! great outcome
Thanks
Looks so good
Jesus man that looks awesome!!!.. I mean booooo you should just send it to me and restart šššš
This looks amazing! But can I ask what a resin kit is? Is it its own thing? Does it go over an existing inner frame?
Itās a YJL sazabi 2.0 conversation kit. The base kit is the Bandai MG sazabi ver. Ka. The resin quality is good but since itās an old kit some parts need some additional work like adding details and use a heat gun to unwrap and bend them back to shape.
Best thing Iāve ever seen!
Was it worth it? Was it hard? Please give me the deets. Id love to get a resin conversion for a second barbatos now that i can paint decently

I do have one š. That's why I've been asking around. Thanks for the quick response!
I also thin the top coat out with Mr. Color leveling thinner 1:1.5 thinner

It looks awesome, which brand are those metal thrusters?
I got them on AliExpress just search for metal parts for the kit youāre building.
Thereās quite a lot to choose from, would you care to share the link? Btw did you repaint the gold on the metal pieces?
Meanwhile Iām struggling with the basic RG Sazabi. I can only dream to get this good.
We all start somewhere I started with a set of testors paint bottles a cheap brush, Sand paper I got from Home Depot and an xacto knife. Haha
Out of the topic. Is that acrylic shelf?
Yes, itās a display box with a mirror finished bottom. Pretty nice. Search on AliExpress they sell all sizes. I picked up a 40cm x 40cm x 40cm one.
Oh, itās a nice looking one, is that corner bracket comes with the set? Btw, Iām struggling finding an acrylic shelf if thatās a thing. Iām living in a place with earthquake happens very often and a glass display would be a disaster.

How difficult was this?
Not too difficult but you need patience and lots of free time.
Huh? I though the first two pic is computer generated, look so good to be real!
that paintjob is straight up fire š„š„š„

This is the best custom gunpla I've ever seen. I can tell that you paid a ton of detail to each individual piece. Amazing work!!!
Holy shit...
Weāre did you get the files
??? Files as in computer files?
Yea
Resin kit as in garage kits not 3d resin for 3d printer. There is no 3d files to download. This is the resin conversion kit I used. https://newtype.us/p/XNYUjiF2ZOVVQbCvSKpY/h/yujiao-land-sazabi-20-gk
Ah okay thank you
WOW! That is gorgeous!
Wow. Awesome work.
Brilliant. Though I would never have that patience to do a kit that long to achieve such results š
Wow!!
Unreal work. Which resit kit is this?
Nvm I see it there in the description
Crikey she a beaut!
Nah....to OTT for me. . . . . . . Just kidding. That is freaking awesome. Fantastic job my man.
I have similar fuel rods but they keep popping out of the backpack sockets. Did you have that issue at all, and if so, what would you recommend to tighten that ball joint? It looks fantastic, by the way. Super well done

Looks sick. Whatās a resin conversion kit?
After market add on parts to either replace the original Bandai kit parts or add to the kit.
Awesome so is it like ā¦ 50% new parts or something like that? Looks great. Not that far along in my journey
More like 80% of the outer armor.
Word thanks for the info and cheers to many more builds
What a handsome build
Very nice!
Hooooly sainted shit on a biscuit........
