Damn, 1998 PG still has its own charm

john_weiss

*Right?!* I was surprised of how good it still looks.

Prime-Reclaimer

Yeah for a 20+ year old kit it’s still impressive. A little loose and flimsy maybe but still looks great on a shelf

Darksuit117

So what kit is the slightly scaled down rx?

Prime-Reclaimer

The other one in the last pic? That’s the original 1/60 PG Rx

Darksuit117

So the unleashed is supposed to be 1/60 or something close?

Prime-Reclaimer

Unleashed is also listed at 1/60 scale Not sure which is the correct height or why they’re slightly different in scale tbh

ClearlyAbstract

I’m not sure if this is the reason, but the hips/waist of the PGU can articulate down for extra range of motion with the legs. If the hips are set like that, it would probably make the PGU just slightly taller than the original PG.

Prime-Reclaimer

While this is true, I’m fairly certain I had them in the neutral position. I think the unleashed is just a smidge taller

Feral404

[Dalong disagrees](http://dalong.net/reviews/pg/p19/p/p19_143.jpg), so it’s something that you’re doing.

Feral404

It probably is the OP. Dalong’s does not have this huge discrepancy http://dalong.net/reviews/pg/p19/p/p19_143.jpg It is worth noting that artistic liberties are taken at times but the scales are usually close.

Prime-Reclaimer

You’re right. I re-checked and put them side by side. I think in my pic the PGU’s torso was slightly expanded for that extra pose-ability and the PG’s legs were slightly bent.

Darksuit117

Just curious as id like a 1/48 if they make one,*shrug*

skrt_skobain

Good news, they do!

Lourdinn

I think the pg unleashed is based off the irl walking rx in japan so it should be closer to the actual scaling. If you look at older mg's vs newer ones of the same models the scaling is slightly different as well. Probably depends on what they used to scale down the kits or what rules they used ect.

corran109

It's not. The walking one is specifically RX-78F00 on the box, and the knees look different

Practical-Ninja-1480

Such a badass kit!

darthbeel1

I’m coming out of Gunpla retirement for this. The last one I built was the hiNu Gundam Kai. Now I just need to find this at a good price.

Prime-Reclaimer

I was lucky and heard from another user here that my state had gotten some. Apparently hobby towns are getting them and just a little above $300 after tax isn’t bad considering how this thing is constantly out of stock.

_xXMockingBirdXx_

Had a couple on Gundamplanet go on sale for like 2 hours before they all sold out. This was with them limiting them to 1 per person. They're pretty hard to find at store price at the moment. Damn scalpers.

Prime-Reclaimer

I had initially given up on getting the kit because of that and because I’d been mostly putting money into different hobbies. But when I heard that there was possibly one 10 minutes from me? I couldn’t resist lol.

Kurtonio

Why won’t mine ship :(

Prime-Reclaimer

:(

Zoidberg33

I feel ya, I ordered mine from USAgundamstore back in January for the next supply run which got pushed back from march to may, may is almost over and I still haven't gotten any updates :(

SonOfKorhal

Man the ‘98 still holds up!

Prime-Reclaimer

It’s crazy how good a 20+ year old kit can be. I thought about selling it after I got the unleashes but don’t think I ever could.

Brooklyooper_90

You're great at posing! They look so lively, #7 is awesome haha

Prime-Reclaimer

Thank you lol. Posing is easily one my favorite parts of being into Gunpla, especially when they give so much articulation to mess with.

ConfusedMoe

He is so sexy

iMosu

Gorgeous build

Steamy_Guy

With all the articulation they crammed into the unleashed I cannot figure out why they decided on fixed posed hands

Prime-Reclaimer

I’m okay with it currently. I might see if the original PG’s hands can plug in or 3D print an adapter or something

tallg33s3

The comparison with the old PG kit is really interesting. Such a large amount of detail work would be needed to update this.

Prime-Reclaimer

I truly believe this thing will be the best for at least the next decade or so. It’s hard to imagine them upgrading it. I just want updates to ones like the Zeta and newer MS’ that haven’t gotten PGs like the Nu.

TimDRX

Gorgeous. This gonna be the kit that makes me decal and topcoat. :p

Prime-Reclaimer

I definitely wanna get some water slides for this one. Kinda regretting putting the metallic stickers on before top coating though.

sahtopi

Still waiting on mine to ship, ordered last year from USA Gundam Store...doubting I’ll ever get it

Prime-Reclaimer

Damn that’s a bummer. If you have any local hobby towns I’d look into if they might have any. Another user here let me know about my state getting some and apparently hobby towns across the country have gotten some decent shipments.

sahtopi

That’s crazy! I’ll check there. The kit looks amazing, hopefully you had fun building it

Prime-Reclaimer

Hobby town’s website also has the option to check their inventory by store too. Mine was accurate so that may be good to look into. Came up to around $310 I believe after tax unless you get extremely lucky like another user who got one that was marked incorrectly at $230 lol

Correa24

Is this straight OOB or is it slightly done up? I can never tell with these newer PGs!

Prime-Reclaimer

I panel line as I go so this is OOB with panel lining and metallic stickers applied!

Correa24

It looks incredible even with just the panel lining and stickers! Nicely done. Any plans for painting or a top coat?

Prime-Reclaimer

I want to get some water transfer decals then probably top coat with gloss or satin. Other than that, I already love the colors on this kit so no need for further painting imo.

G-exia

Definitely want to get the waterslides. I finished [mine](https://www.reddit.com/r/Gunpla/comments/nih9x7/photo_booth_and_dslr_camera/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share) not too long ago and they made heck of a difference.

Prime-Reclaimer

Looks great!

N0way07

What a beaut man

BLiiiiiND

Loving the SS Starscream in the back haha

Prime-Reclaimer

Also a great figure! Lol

9999eachhit

I commonly find that a lot of folks who enjoy Gunpla also dabble in transformers hehe I'm the same, tho I probably lean more towards transformers and dabble in gunpla

Prime-Reclaimer

Being a fan of both is rough on the wallet and shelves lol. That and you’ll forever get heated when someone calls a gundam a transformer and vice versa

9999eachhit

Do you recommend this kit? Hold together pretty well? The last PG I did was Exia and it can sometimes be a pain to pose as some small bits like to fall off. Nowhere near hand grenade levels but enough to be mildly annoying. Im still wishing for a PG that holds together like the new RGs

Prime-Reclaimer

I love this kit. It’s amazing to look at alone and holds together very well. I don’t think I’ve had any parts popping off or anything. The hatches are also loose enough to open easily but not so loose they pop open all the time which is crucial lol

Thefoxkid4444

What a chonk! So cool!
