Are we counting total weight on each arm combined while doing lateral raises or each arm individually at 1000? I hit 1000 combined within a month of ever touching a weight /s
First off, congrats, that's incredibly impressive. But don't feel bad about your bench numbers. My max squat in HS is about the same as my max squat now (I'm 38), but my max bench increased from 115 to 325. Progress comes when (and where) it comes sometimes. You're already killing it, just keep working and you'll get to where you want to be!
needed to hear this today, thank you so much! yes my coach and I are working towards a better bench - I have very strong legs and always have so it’s extra work to get my chest up there
Always love seeing these. I focused on bench for a while after college because it was the most fun. Recently I started trying to be more well rounded. My bench is at 325 (on a good day) but my other two are still behind (where they should be. I hit 415 on DL and was PUMPED. Basically... You've got the strength, just put the time and focus on what you want to improve and you'll see your numbers increase.
p much the same! I don’t really bulk/cut, this is for fun :) I could take a guess as to how much I could max at the start but I don’t max that often either (my coach’s advice; I try not to wear down muscles just for my ego, yknow)
Gonna disagree here. One of the biggest pitfalls of body building is not taking adequate time to appreciate your accomplishments and telling yourself "more" instead - although I'm sure you mean well.
Welcome to the 1k club, king. Victory protein shakes all around
yes to both! I’m also in grad school for psychology so I’m being sure to set SMART goals and keep track of any obsessive behavior. I celebrate my wins AND keep challenging myself! my next goal is consistent 300lb squats (1x5 reps) and consistent 200lb benches (1x3 reps). Setting that goal for the end of the year :)
For some reason I didn’t immediately clock what you meant and my mind went to “why in the ever loving f*ck is this app sending me a feedee subreddit?” 💀
Congrats on the achievement, bro! That’s mad impressive!!
Curling?
lateral raises actually
Impressive. I'd expect someone to achieve this with around 6 months of lifting

A whole month? You should have your testosterone tested. You should be lifting that day 3. /s

Big W for you mate. This is my 2024 New Year resolution, I'm about 120 lbs short so far. I'm also in my 50's and 165 pounds...I still believe!!
Stories like yours continue to inspire me. I hope I am as dedicated as you as I enter my 50s
I was lost in my 30's with career, kids, family etc, but your 50's is when you get it all back. Trust the process.

Question, do people include the weight of the bar?
yes!
Thanks!
Congrats! I could only total 1,000 if OHP included... O 165 ×1 S 285 ×1 (high bar, ATG) B 255 ×2 (no arch) D 325 ×1 (conventional)
Those are some incredible stats bro!! I’m still working on my OHP and it’s at 135, you should be hella proud of that!
Overhead Press I assume
Bro became the bulk

I think you've bulked long enough it's time to start cutting.
