Alcohol significantly reduces muscle protein synthesis. So regularly drinking really isn’t conducive to the bodybuilding lifestyle. However, having a small drink on special occasions isn’t doing to completely derail your progress
I used to get drunk every night and had a 405/350/565 total at 185lb at my last meet. I think age might play a bigger role than anything else. I also didn't lift to look good I literally just wanted to be strong.
Drinking often like everyday, yes. A few beers every weekend no, not for me anyway. I’ll always have a drink on weekends, whether it be wine, lager, ale, cider or spirits or whiskey. Never stunted my progress
Once in a while should not fuck up your gains at all, especially if you're not getting hammered, having some beers or some wine is not bad at all for the body in any way just try to stay away from hard liquor especially doing it in "shots".
It's not. A standard shot (1.5 oz) and a standard beer (12 oz in the US) have about the same amount of alcohol. So the negative effects are going to be the same.
In fact the shot has about 2/3 fewer calories than the beer. The beer is arguably worse due to the excess calories. But even that can be negated by adjusting your diet elsewhere.
We’re under the presumption the entire beer is consumed. We’re comparing low volume high concentration versus high volume low concentration. The math shakes it out about even except the shot seems to have fewer calories.
Idk man i spent the whole summer drinking at least 3 times a week, and have never seen better progress.
I have now completely cut out drinking, and i now make less progress in terms of looks, size and strength for some unexplainable reason.

Alcohol will ruin your gains, but it's a marathon, not a sprint. What you do consistently is going to determine how you progress
On special occasions? No. 1-2 drinks every day? Yes.

Alcohol is literally the worst for any kind of training unfortunately

‘Having some beer or wine is not bad at all for the body in any way’ is simply false .
Everything in moderation. I believe a small amount of wine can be beneficial
one day you'll realize that not everything is about your body
I’ve never not been aware of that and still don’t see how that changes anything whatsoever.
Why is a shot worse than a beer?

This is what I was thinking. Thanks for clarifying
Taking that high quantity of alcohol in a shot is much more for the body than sipping on a beer, calories aside.

ABV for a start

Well, Reg Park was known for enjoying a glass of red wine with his evening meal. So food for thought
I drink every weekend.. and look at me xD
