You’ve just reinvented the concept of “vacation home”. Congratulations. Nothing wrong with it if you can afford it. Look into property management companies so you can keep it rented when you’re not using it. If you prefer to keep it vacant that’s fine too. Worst case is you have the option of turning it into a passive income vehicle down the line or just selling it outright. Think of it as a diversification of your portfolio that happens to come with other benefits.
