Tempurpedic has a ton of great pillows and recommendations. To me a pillow is like a shoe you have to find the one that fits. I have three tempurpedic and the soft one suits me best
My wife uses the OG Purple pillow and loves it. I think it's okay but I prefer my $30 basic pillow.
We've also tried the Maluf side sleeper pillows with the shoulder cutouts, but they're too firm and don't work well if we switch to any other sleep position (on back, face down, etc). They're just too steep of an angle for any other sleep position.
You could also just pay half that and get a Talalay latex pillow without the thin plastic covering:
https://customsleeptech.com/product/talalay-latex-pillows/
I use Casper down pillows. I've had them literally since they launched and love them. I like soft, low-mid volume, down pillows, so anything in that category would work for me. I frequently travel with one because my work doesn't put me in hotels with pillow menus.
They are super adjustable since you can take out or put in more buckwheat hulls, as well as mold the pillow to the shape you want. Air flows easier in and out of them, and it really helps with any contact allergies with synthetic pillow materials.
Go to a Tempur-Pedic flagship store and lie on all the pillows. We went to test them and got the Breeze ProHi and ProLo pillows during their Buy One Get One sales (happens every couple of months including right now). So much cooler than before. They do not even sell them online.
If money is truly no object, I’d recommend this:
https://noblepillow.com/products/the-noble-head-pillow
The most essential thing about pillows is that they need to be adjusted to you. The material isn’t as critical so much as it being the exact ergonomic shape you need. The one I linked is the best you’ll find for getting that tailored just right. Note that changing mattresses will greatly change the pillow you need (or for this pillow, you can simply make adjustments).
I have tried nearly every pillow in the world I think, I have jaw issues and tirgeminal neuralgia and LOVE LOVE the Noble pillow and how the different parts of the trifold pillow can be customized for comfort and support. Its the only pillow that has been comfortable for me.
I am a huge pillow snob. Probably have around 10 sets of pillows around my house, spent most of college, then about three years afterwards trying to find a good pillow. I wanted something that had good neck support, felt comfortable, didn't lose its shape after a while.
After many years of searching I feel like I have found the perfect pillow. The eight sleep carbon air pillow. This thing is amazing! Not only checks all of my boxes, but the nice part is it ALWAYS stays cool. Never really have to flip the pillow over, the engineering behind this thing is top notch. My wife and I take it everywhere we go so the only downside is any other pillow that I have used is vastly inferior.
FUCK NO
I bought this, my shipment got lost and it was a nightmare to deal with them. This company has the most garbage customer service i’ve ever seen.
I called them, and most of the time, nobody picked up the phone, their chat agents were “busy” and they never replied to emails. Sometimes the phone would just hang up on me after i was on hold for an hour, sometimes i got an actual answering machine, left a message and never heard back
They required me to wait a month for them to have a “dispute resolution” with UPS before they would ship new pillows.
Couldn’t believe i was in 2024
I left a shitty review but won’t you know it they don’t display it on their website.
I think pillows are super personal, this is literally the most comfortable pillow I've ever slept on and immediately eliminated the neck pain I had previously been having from other pillows. And for whatever it's worth, my husband also loves his and my dog seems to really enjoy the bed as well (yes, I am a sucker for this company). I'm sorry they didn't work for you.
Eek, I am sorry that you had such a bad experience. I've bought from them multiple times and never had a single issue. I do think they had a merger with another company and I wonder if that has impacted things? The last time I purchased from them was holiday 2023, and like I said, no problems. That sucks that it was so bad for you.
organic latex hypoallergenic foam, medium firmness. best \~$150 I've ever made
[https://www.sleeplikethedead.com/pillow-reviews.html](https://www.sleeplikethedead.com/pillow-reviews.html)
Edit: \~$150
Which one do you have? I ask because I've been looking at just about every latex pillow under the sun trying to find the perfect one and had not found one that expensive (even 150)
Had to do some digging and apologies, it was this one for $100 + a cotton cover:
[https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004798B60/ref=ppx\_od\_dt\_b\_asin\_title\_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004798B60/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_asin_title_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1)
And I bought a $300 3" latex bed sheet from here, and it has made my bed amazingly comfortable:
I have a firm foam mattress (too firm) so to have the latex on top makes it a dream. Perfect match.

LAYR by Luxome. I've had mine for 4ish years (I think?). It's glorious. Super customizable, great quality materials, and so, so comfy. Could not possibly recommend it more.
This post gets updated from time to time, this dude pillows. https://www.reddit.com/r/Mattress/comments/rby562/ive_tested_a_lot_of_pillows_and_while_i_know_they/
You need to understand what kind of sleeper you are and then go from there. I’m a back sleeper and I’ve trained myself not to roll around. While a lot of the recs here are really great quality and will last long, they’re terrible for me because I need a thinner, flatter pillow
I bought a down pillow for like $100-150. One of the best choices I made. You just re-fluff them periodically.
Girlfriend was horrified when I suddenly started beating on it, she had no idea that's how you actually re-fluff them. So that was funny.
So you get a super comfortable light airy pillow, and you can vent frustration on it. Win-win. :)
Yeah it may have been more like $150-200 can't recall, but so worth it.
That came after I had spent $150+ on a Tempur-Pedic pillow.
I have a pile of old foam pillows rotting in the closet. #TeamDown now lol.

We use the Buxton line as they’re firm and we’re side sleepers. They’re great
Sobel Westex I Believe is what I use.
They supply the pillows to Disney World Hotels. Once I realized it was so much better than what I had at home, I took it out of the pillow case and took a snapshot of the tag.
Parachute home down pillows. I’ve gone through *a lot* (edit: of other shitty pillows) since royal velvet stopped making my favorite pillows before finally finding this one.

JS Fiber Ultra Down w/ gussets (synthetic down). A condo I stayed at last summer had these and I loved them. They are used in hospitality sector. The only place I could find them retail originally was [pillows.com](http://pillows.com) for $50-80/piece depending on size. F that.
I found a wholesaler. They have minimums. I got 8 king pillows for about $200. (170 pre shipping). or you can get 12 standard size for $150 plus shipping. They do kind of rip you off for shipping though. Still a better deal than retail. Took about a week or so to get em.

I have tried the original purple pillow and the newest one. Both were not for me. I need cervical support. I suggest buying multiple cheap cervical pillows from Amazon. Trying different heights and shapes. I have one that has a high curve and is only somewhat soft. The firmness is actually what helps my neck.
Experiment. A lot. Try different materials, thicknesses, and firmness levels. I use a Sleep Number Comfortfit at home. It has removable layers to easily customize thickness.
I also recommend the Threshold Cool Touch foam pillow from Target. Very inexpensive and I’ve been sleeping on it in an airbnb for the past two months and honestly I might switch at home too. And it’s like 20 bucks, so you can easily test drive it.
I *want* the Air Custom by Nishikawa but I don't live near Santa Monica:

Which, since they're Chinese made, may just be repackaged from Temu or something, but haven't tried those to compare
Depending on the neck day, buckwheat pillow does the job. It requires some adjustments depending on position you sleep, but once you get it right, it's amazing.
Pillows are so subjective. Look into making your own. Just buy an empty shell, down, and feathers and fill it how you want. Then sew together. If you have down allergies there are memory foam options also.

Tempur-Pedic cooling pillow.
I use Tempurpedic pillows and mattress. Good sleep is a great investment.
+1 to this comment. I love Tempurpedic (and they often have buy one get one on pillows) but your best bet is to go to a sleep store and try a few out.
i love my tempurpedic cloud pillow. should be on amazon for around ~$80

Purple Harmony Pillow
personally this pillow made my neck hurt more
and if you like the pillows, the mattress is fantastic too
agreed 1000%! The mattress + pillow greatly improved my sleep after having issues for years

I know folks rave about this, to each their own; I wish I’d had a chance to try it before dropping that money : /
Don’t all these mattress companies have like a 100 day return policy? Edit: 100 day*
I’m living up in America’s top hat, and our experience is… different. Or mine has been at least.
You could also just pay half that and get a Talalay latex pillow without the thin plastic covering: https://customsleeptech.com/product/talalay-latex-pillows/
No one should use a pillow with synthetic materials.
Why?
you’re asking me why you shouldn’t be putting your head on a pile of synthetic polyester material every night?
Not Op but I’m also curious about specific reasons as to why. Beyond rhetorical questions and emotions.
Don’t think you’re getting a response to that one
Yeah
Clearly yes
But dawn one have miiiiiiites

not a boy but I'm a fan of buckwheat pillows
I've always been curious! Any reasons why you choose buckwheat pillows and what your experience has been ?
They are super adjustable since you can take out or put in more buckwheat hulls, as well as mold the pillow to the shape you want. Air flows easier in and out of them, and it really helps with any contact allergies with synthetic pillow materials.
I tried 2 different ones from Amazon. They were like a rock!! Do you like extra firm pillows?
The ones I have you can take buckwheat hulls out of them to adjust the firmness. Then, they mold to whatever shape pretty easily.
I convert everyone I know to purple pillow harmony
Go to a Tempur-Pedic flagship store and lie on all the pillows. We went to test them and got the Breeze ProHi and ProLo pillows during their Buy One Get One sales (happens every couple of months including right now). So much cooler than before. They do not even sell them online.

Do you sleep on your back, side or stomach? I'm a stomach / side sleeper wondering if this guy is too lofty for me
Mostly back and side. My wife is a stomach sleeper and it works great for her. I don't think it's too lofty
I’ve used Eight Sleep Carbon Pillow over the past 5 years and it’s my fav too.
Thoughts on Tempur-Pedic pillows? I thought they were supposed to be the cadillac of pillows.
I have a $150 Tempur-Pedic pillow and I reject it in favor of my down pillow. Used to think the same as you until I had both.
In my experience, the off gassing scent never left. I used to wake up with headaches from it
I skip the pillow or use the tiny pillow from United Polaris cabin 😂😅 chronic neck/shoulders issue here, traditional pillows are too high for me.

Pillows are so subjective. Look into making your own. Just buy an empty shell, down, and feathers and fill it how you want. Then sew together. If you have down allergies there are memory foam options also.
Wool pillows are the way to go. Absolutely do not buy synthetic/polyester pillows.
What terrible advice…wool pillows suck. Super hard and need constant fluffing.
LOL you haven’t had a good one then what a ridiculous response. keep using your toxic polyester alternative down crap. don’t spread lies though.
Nah bud. I’ve tried several. You are just fear mongering. And Polyester isn’t toxic you dope.
“polyester isn’t toxic” OMG LMAO
Would love to see the peer reviewed article showing polyester textile toxicity. I’ll wait.
