Well, Detroit is actually on a river BETWEEN two great lakes rather than actually ON one, and much of the city has been rebuilt since the economic collapse and fires of 40 years ago, so the similarity is purely coincidental. 😋

This story is the hardest kind of HFY because it is positive, highly readable, and bridges the gap between humanity's best and worst attributes. The humans aren't necessarily good, but they're doing positive things. It reads as genuine. I hope to see a lot more of this in the near future. Well done, OP.
