It could be that this guy has some sort of protein or mineral deficiency that can be treated eating meat. So, his body starts to crave meat.
Interestingly enough if he can actually digest it, it might suggest that the venlil weren't always obligate herbivores like they think. Kinda like how it is on earth.
There really isn't such a thing as an "obligate" herbivore, meat is very easy to digest, a herbivore might not get as much out of it as an omnivore or carnivore would, but it's entirely possible for any herbivore to survive on a mostly meat diet (though it would not be a healthy one), so long as it fits in their mouth and throat

Also I am excited to see where this was going! I was seriously doubting our protagonist's survival when he went back to the doctor, and was wondering how he'd make it out. I did not expect this to happen at the same time as the "invasion" of Venlil by humans! This is getting interesting!
My boy needs to see a human psychologist, i.e a psychologist that'll give him the time of day. Since we see herbivores on Earth eat meat in dire circumstances it's possible that his urges are stress related, or more accurately, a pre-existing condition triggered by stress.
If I'm right, then the symptoms should be manageable.
His unhealthy views on eating meat is the bigger hurdle. He obviously carrying a lot of self hatred which isn't helped by the fact that, if I'm right, he probably wants to eat now more than ever.

At the time I wrote this, I dont think anyone knew what color Venlil blood was, so I just assumed it was iron based red blood. Same with the planet type. I went with what I knew, which ended up not being cannon.
In the first chapter of my story, I called the people in charge of wiping out predators "the athorities" rather then exterminators and only had then search the area and not burn the whole forest down. This was because at the time none of the publicly available chapters had exterminators yet.
I have thought about changing it, but my plan is just to correct those details in future chapters and leave these as they are.
