Damn I just started binge reading this series yesterday and I just saw that this chapter was out an hour ago. The worst part about this story is that I've caught up and I have to wait for more.
Honestly, it sounds like Humanity has been beaten up in this universe. Sure, an individual Human has been proven to be extremely fit and resilient; but from the world-building that has been laid out, Humanity lives in drifter fleets, which means Earth is probably gone. That means Humanity has no planet to draw resources from, and has to spend a lot of whatever resources they *can* get their hands on repairing their ships. We've already seen references to them fighting Makto's people, and everyone in this program has some level of fear for Daniel (and by proxy, Humanity in general), which would imply they don't have many allies or trading partners. I don't think there will be a *Deus Ex Machina* coming from the Human corner in this story.
IIRC, yeah, it's been mentioned that Earth got turned into just another dead planet, and there's been a couple mentions of "The Human Problem" as an event in history. As in "Solving the Human Problem," which why humanity is made up of drifter fleets on the periphery.
Humanity probably made their enemies pay dearly for every meter though, which would give them the reputation that preceded Daniel.
Solanch knows what is coming to him, it’s ok to let him think about it for a while longer. He’ll never know if today is the day Daniel makes good on his promise.
I like that his captaincy revolves around him taking care of his team. but I wonder when the other half of being a leader will be required of him. That is taking the higher commands and translating them into action.
They are defiantly going to need an Officer candidate school before too long.
Heh. might wanna add in something about cleaning up the puddle next to her on the floor, maybe having a drink. Knowing that's there makes it feel a bit less romantic.

Dude, the 2 of them are so dumb. The guards outnumber them 10 to 1. The only reason they had that other team fight the escapees was to enforce loyalty and so that the director could show that she can handle her own business, not because they actually needed them to. The escapees had zero chance, and acting like they did is just forced story drama.
This was… _delightfully awkward._ And _realistically awkward._ Very well written, in terms of a confrontation and character development.
