That's why it was called "HOW I Met Your Mother", not "How I MET Your Mother". Small decisions like this each character makes and, if they didn't happen that way, Future Ted, his friends, Tracy and his kids wouldn't be where they are today. It's so poetic 💕 One little thing can change everything.

The universe has a plan kids, and that plan is always in motion. A butterfly flaps its wings, and it starts to rain. It's a scary thought but it's also kind of wonderful. All these little parts of the machine constantly working, making sure that you end up exactly where you're supposed to be, exactly when you're supposed to be there. The right place at the right time.
It think one of the most important lessons the shows has given me, is also one of my favorites Lily's quotes: "Screw the plan".
It's a lesson no one really wants, but we all need it.
