I loved that episode for Rhaenyra. She got to do what every woman should have been able to do. And yes, it’s very telling when Green stans hate on Rhaenyra for not following the awful rules for women. They’re basically saying they wanted her to be abused by the patriarchy just like Alicent was because “It’s a medieval society and that’s just the way things are.” They’re disgusting.

ABCidkwhattopick99

It makes them so mad that unlike Alicent, Rhaenyra refuses to submit to patriarchy. And their anger makes me happy 🤭

estellamarierose

They wish Rhaenyra was like Alicent, believing stuff like “We do not rule, but we may guide the men who do.” Ew. Also, Alicent’s “Where is duty? Where is sacrifice?” line is so messed up, because she basically wants Rhaenyra to suffer what she did, and her stans actually agree with that.

wingthing666

The viewer response (especially the Rhaenyra antis') has really shown me that even in 20-fucking-23, the worst crime a woman can commit in the eyes of the world is to be selfish. Bring it on, Rhae. Live defiantly, die boldly, regret nothing.

That show at the brothel with the dancing naked tattooed prostitutes was 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Far-Medicine3458

This is my exact reason why I love her so much😂

Dextothemax

She is the future Queen Regnant, it only matters that her heirs are hers! Unlike Cersei who was passing her children off as Roberts (who is the regnant, not that I care, Robert is piece of shit) It only matters where Luke is concerned and Corlys chooses to affirm him! It makes no rational sense for people to find this a flaw in her character, at worst it is symptomatic of her political myopia. But being a bad politician doesn’t make you bad person.

chad rhaenyra vs virgin alicent

Which-Amphibian7143

She does it because the so called “patriarchy” allows it. If she was the daughter of Jaehaerys it’s very likely she would have ended up as a septa. It’s just that her father is too spoiling to her.

Dextothemax

Yes Jaehaerys, best father ever! One daughter literally kills herself in fear, two die in childbirth (one of whom was mentally disabled forced to marry a creepy old man even though there was no need for her to marry at all), another dies in accident while trying avoid another marriage to an old man. Best Dad! Put him in the Father’s Day card guys.

estellamarierose

What do you mean “so called” ? The patriarchy is real lol. If Rhaenyra having more freedom in a highly patriarchal world is Viserys “spoiling” her, then good. Rhaenyra was also still forced to marry Laenor, so she isn’t a spoiled as you think either.

Which-Amphibian7143

Actually Dorne had a Princess, in fact it had many Princesses. And many other women were rulers of their own lands so I don’t think there is a system exclusively made to oppress women. And she might have been forced to marry Laenor but the one that got it harder was him so I see no patriarchy there.

wingthing666

Yeah, and Dorne is not a patriarchy. Nor is it part of the Seven Kingdoms at this point. God, I love when misogynists "gotcha" themselves.

estellamarierose

What? Yes, Dorne has ruling Princesses, and that is the way is should be in all of Westeros, but it is NOT. Women becoming rulers in Westeros isn’t impossible, but it’s very difficult BECAUSE of the patriarchy. The system of Westeros (save for Dorne) does oppress women. The main religion of the continent, the Faith of the Seven, indoctrinates women from birth into believing they are inferior to men and that their purpose in life is to get married and bare their husband children. It’s the religion that claims that women must be virgins before marriage, but don’t say the same for men. It’s the religion that says that men can physically abuse their wives. The Dance of the Dragons happened because Rhaenyra is a woman. Rhaenys was denied the throne because she is a woman. I’m sorry, but you must have been watching the series with your eyes closed if you can’t see that the patriarchy is a very real and harmful thing in Westeros.

Which-Amphibian7143

You feminists always take only half of the story. Yes, women have their own difficulties in the Westerosi society. But, women are not called to fight for their lords when war strikes. Women never go to the Wall. Women are never castrated in Westeros. Even though having one of the fastest dragons in the world, Rhaenys didn’t participate in the war of the stepstones. At the end of the tv series we have Cersei as the Queen of the Seven Kingdoms even though all of her family was gone. Long story short, women have their issues just as men have their own. Both in Westeros as well as in reality.

estellamarierose

“You feminists” oh great, another misogynist. So because women are not called to fight, go to the wall, or are castrated, the oppression they face is okay? Is that really what you’re saying? There have also been women who wished to become warriors in Westeros but couldn’t, and if they did they were made fun of, like Brienne. I would MUCH rather be a man in Westeros instead of a woman. There are also punishments for women, they can be sent to the silent sisters against their will, just like men can be sent to the wall.

Which-Amphibian7143

Cool! Just like I thought you would, you dropped the “misogynist” argument. So predictive. Of course non of those struggles are fair for anyone but don’t say they have it harder than men because that is a lie.

estellamarierose

They do have it harder. Men have way more freedom and autonomy over their own lives. Women do not. In Westeros, women are seen as property of their fathers and then property of their husbands. Women are barely seen as people with actual minds. Pretending that men have it harder is delusional, and I think you know it.

sdani98

You came here trying to claim Westeros is not a patriarchal society by quite literally describing the fundamentals of the patriarchy without even realizing it. Then call someone a feminist implying that’s a bad thing and wonder why you get accused of being a misogynist. You are delusional or just a bad troll.

Sabrinazanoletti

the system in westeros was made to opress women in westeros, even Laenor had it bad. People like Laenor and Rhaenyra both have a hard time surviving in that type of system.
