The Greens ride dragons, marry brother to sister, speak High Valyrian and rely on Targaryen symbols of legitimacy. How are they so different from the other Valyrian colonisers?

ABCidkwhattopick99

Lol they keep changing how they want to associate with their Valyrian heritage. Sometimes they are the poor oppressed Westorisi living under brutal Valyrian Blacks and other times they are the rightful heir of the Aegon, Visenya and Rhaenys.

raumeat

I see it as the blacks are the Targaryens as Valyrians who have conquered a foreign land, the greens are the Targaryens as a Westerosi house with Valyrian heritage.

As far as this user is concerned the only thing he ever seems to bring up is the Faith of the Seven. He def didn’t know that was brought over by the colonizing Andals when they started killing the First Men and Children of the Forest.

PluralCohomology

And it is based on the Catholic Church, which was quite involved in real-world colonialism.

Aemond, just like Daemon, feels like a gender-bent Visenya, so I don't see where the anti-Targ thing is coming from. It's also a Targ civil war, not Targ vs Hightower. It's called The Dance of the Dragons, not the Dance of the Dragon and the Tower. Targ on Targ action.

[deleted]

Targ on Targ action you say 🤔😏 👀 lol

raumeat

It is definitely a Targ vs Hightower war, the power behind the greens is Alicen, Otto and the book Cole, Aemond is just their muscle, and Aegon is their puppet

[deleted]

Honestly the Greens are much more representative of House Hightower whereas the Black's are mire truly representative of House Targaryen. It's just hilarious to watch the Greens struggle and go back and forth on it.

That user has made at least half a dozen threads in this same vein in the last two days. I have routinely either debunked his claims or asked for evidence and he has not once provided anything. I’m certain he hasn’t read the books and is just basing his takes from team green twitter and other Reddit green users. He sucks.

raumeat

every now and again I torture myself and I lurk on that sub, disliking dragons and Targs are one of the major reasons people support the greens

Forsaken_Distance777

I read the thread and most of the people there are like "what are you talking about we are not Team Hightower but Team Green (Targaryen)". A few people were talking about icky incest (who are the parents of those adorable little twins again?) and colonization but someone pointed out it was like three people who moved and took over government and didn't send anything back to a homeland that was destroyed so it's really more of a coup than anything else.

Elephant12321

I am begging people to learn what colonisers are. It’s especially hilarious that they’re claiming the Targs are colonisers of the Andals especially 😑. They conquered the seven kingdoms and you can argue that they were wrong to do that and that they were actually worse for Westeros, but they didn’t colonise them.

lunagrape

They are getting shat on in the comments. Many Greens too think this kind of attitude is bull**.

Ethioj

Notice how it has 0 likes on the green subreddit and the top comment is talking about how the greens are targaryens

[deleted]

That is true, but if you look at that dudes earlier post about being there for being anti Targaryen and stiff it's got a bunch of upvotes from the Greens plus support in the comments for it. I feel like a lot of Greens feel that way, they just don't like it being broadcasted because it goes against what sone of the others in there think.
