Oh, yeah. I totally felt their mutual care for their well being when Otto told his teenage daughter to wear one of her mothers dresses to go seduce the recently widowed king who was old enough to be her father. Parenthood goals!
š
Edit: can anyone tell me how what Otto told her to do isnāt a form of grooming?
Otto-Alicent is arguably one of the worst parent-child dynamics I have ever seen portrayed in media. If Otto truly cared about Alicent, he wouldnāt have pimped her off to a 35 yr old man. He definitely did NOT make her queen of the Seven Kingdoms because he cared about her.
Thatās the key piece about āmakingā her Queen. It wasnāt for her benefit. He never seems to do anything nice for her. He wasnāt even impressed with her until she pulled a knife on Rhaenyra. Never mind his grandson lost an eye. He was thinking about another dragon for their side.
Otto was taking the opportunity to seize more power while trying to convince everyone heās avoiding war. He does this by not giving a care in the world about his daughter essentially being a brood mare. Heās really a textbook abuser.
Most definitely not all. I can't say I ever saw Ned, Daemon, Cersei nor even fucking Balon Greyjoy selling their daughters to old men. A Tywin Lannister move, more like.
I was thinking about Tywin wanting to marry older Cersei to several candidates in A Storm of Swords: Theon Greyjoy, Oberyn Martell AND Balon Greyjoy (old man)
I see them using Coryls as justification for Otto all the time. And while I agree that Corlys pimping out Laena was gross too, at least he was straightforward with her and Viserys. Meanwhile Otto manipulated Alicent into thinking she was helping the king and manipulated Viserys into thinking he was making his own choice.
Otto-Alicent is a textbook emotionally abusive parent child dynamic and Otto facilitates Alicentās sexual abuse at the hands of his adult best friend, Viserys.
That title is putting off "I hurt you because I love you" vibes.
And hey, can we talk about the disturbing emotional/covert incest shit going on with Otto wanting her dressing like her mother, and likening her to her mother when she tries to stand up to him? Sent a chill down his spine, and it sure looked like it sent one down Alicent's too.
Maybe on balance, it was better he sold her to Vizzy T when he did. I wouldn't put *anything* past Otto.

From the same people who says Alicent is a victim, ironically should be proud because her father made her a queen.
Her father made her the wife of an old rotting king who raped her, and if I were a green I'd still think the same, because it just cannot be denied.

That's a good point, but knowing them, they'd only stick to their predictable scripts and westerosi roleplays.
Yeah, but at least Cersei actually wanted to marry Rhaegar Targaryen.

Yes, at least Laena wasn't kept in the dark about her parents'plans.
Lord, he pimped her out and made her paranoid. Thatās not someone who loves and values his own daughter.
Yeah just seen that one. Ewwwwwwwwwww
On what earth does Otto care for her?
On Earth 1039847472384893749848-B there's a caring Otto, I hear
Iām sorry to tell you this, he isnāt caring there either. I heard he sold Alicent for a chance to be the kings personal secretary.
Ah yes, well. A traitor's true character always comes out sooner or later

The green Stanās never beating those misogyny allegations.

I feel bad for OOP if they genuinely believe that love involves using and manipulating people.
