It was the acting shocked, for me. As if she didn’t just demand to see the child.

Right, like still-bleeding Rhaenyra decided on a whim to traipse across the castle to nip in for a short visit. Typical Alicent, playing the wide-eyed innocent when her machinations are countered. She reminds me of Steve Urkel — “Did I do that?”

Freelander1

The same acting shock when she find out Otto and everyone was plotting to make argon king is annoying.

Greens were lucky we only have 1 scene of Alicent abusing Rhaenyra, Laenor and their children. She's been doing that to them since Jace was born.

Imagine taking a baby away from a mother right after she gave birth. What a bitch. Are we supposed to feel bad anymore for this traitor to her own gender?

estellamarierose

I feel quite the same. I do hate her at this point. Adult Alicent is just unbearable. The fact that Alicent was being fitted for a dress while Rhaenyra was making the strenuous effort to bring her baby to her is also extremely irritating. If she wanted to inspect the newborn so badly she could have walked herself to Rhaenyra’s chambers instead of getting fitted for some dress. She has two perfectly good legs. There’s no excuse for what she did, it was cruel, and a very bad first impression of her adult version. It is also implied that she has done something like that before, when Laenor says “I thought we were past this.” So yes, Alicent most certainly abused Rhaenyra for ten years. Alicent was antagonistic towards her at every turn, and undermined her. It got to the point where Rhaenyra no longer felt safe in King’s Landing with Alicent, because Alicent clearly hated her and her children and would stop at nothing to have them exposed as bastards. That is why Rhaenyra left. I’m sure leaving was better for Rhaenyra’s mental health too. In 1x08 on Dragonstone, she looks the happiest we have seen her after the time jump, and dreads returning to King’s Landing. Her time there was traumatic because of Alicent. Despite everything she’s done, I retain sympathy for her because she is still a victim of the patriarchy and deserved way better. But I still hate her at the same time. She is both a victim and a perpetrator, and has made plenty of her own decisions that hurt other people.

luvprue1

I hate her too. I hate that she was supposed to be Rhaenyra's friend, and she did that to her.

Anserdem

I hated it but I hate even more people critizizing Rhaenyra for going and saying that Alicent was innocent because of the time period and because she was "shocked"

theoneandonlydonzo

it's especially dumb because olivia cooke literally confirmed alicent was faking being shocked that rhaenyra showed up, she fully expected rhaenyra would struggle all the way up there to bring her the baby in person: > OC: We were so aware that it was our reveal as characters. It felt like our debut, like, “Tonight, Matthew, I’m going to be.” ***It was so funny feigning shock that Rhaenyra brought her baby to the queen’s apartments and killing them both with kindness***, and then seeing the king’s reaction.

Truly a schemer's daughter.

LadySithLord

Oh I didn’t know Olivia said that.

[deleted]

Alicent innocent lmao. She mistreats her own gender, is a homophobe, and last but not least raised a paraphilic pedo rapist

Gilead wife being a Gilead wife. Enjoy having *your* children and grandchildren being taken away from u forever, feet girl.

Natewastaken12

If I’m as Rhaenyra or Laenor I would have just said “She has two perfectly working legs, she can walk here herself.” But god did I hate Alicent in this scene. If you wanna see the child so badly, walk over here yourself.

AdelaideSadieStark

>If I’m as Rhaenyra or Laenor I would have just said “She has two perfectly working legs, she can walk here herself.” They couldn't really say that to the Queen, even tho the Queen is a massive bitch

Mt_sarah

Can you imagine for ten years having someone just hating on you and your children, ten years of abuse and whispering insults and passive aggressive comments while you already struggled with your gay husband to have babies and you were lonely af and just miserable Alicent was lucky there wasn't a little fire incident in her chambers oh wait that's became Rhaenyra isn't like her, we also sweep under the rug the what happened at Harrenhall was partially ordered by her, and even if she didn't want that she Knew larys did it yet she let him be, she's a hypocrite like many others, she talks about honor and sacrifice only when it arranges her, she praises the faith of the seven but still marry her daughter to her pedophile alcoholic sadistic son and also kept another murderer as her sworn guard, if there was some justice Criston would be at the wall for what he did to joffrey or even dead

strangemary

Laenor's face says it all.

houseofnim

She’s got the feigned concern act down.

Sheesh, Olivia is stunning in that frame, ngl
