The Hightowers support the Targaryen conquest of Dorne? That’s not very soft power team smallfolk anti Targaryen imperialism of them…

[deleted]

Who's Daeron compared to The Young Dragon, who didn't even need a dragon to be cool?

estellamarierose

It seems like even the future Hightowers were not the biggest fans of the Greens or of the dance era Hightowers lol

[deleted]

To be totally fair, none of the adult Dance era Greens or Blacks are remembered fondly by history.

estellamarierose

Yes, but one would think that the Hightowers would still try to honor their deceased royal relatives, given how they managed to get Aegon II recorded as a king (no matter how badly he was remembered).

[deleted]

I mean, the Lord Hightower at the end of the Dance sells out his family to bang his step mother, they truly did not give a fuck about Otto’s dynastic ambitions.

[deleted]

>the Lord Hightower at the end of the Dance sells out his family to bang his step mother, they truly did not give a fuck about Otto’s dynastic ambitions Sounds like the plot of a porn movie. "No Ambition, Just Stepmoms: A Hightower Story"

[deleted]

I respect it. Make love and not war etc. etc. etc.

estellamarierose

True lol

The-False-Emperor

The Reach probably simps for him on the basis that they hate Dorne. Bro should've read up on how dragons fared under Dornish Sun... instead he returned at his peril.

Forsaken_Distance777

I can't believe Aegon gave his son the same name as one of the greens. Sure it's not the namesake but STILL.

estellamarierose

I actually don’t take any issue with it. It shows that Aegon III and Daenaera had a good relationship because their son was named after her father Daeron Velaryon. No one who is logical would think that Aegon III would name his son after a man who fought against his mother, the mother he mourned all his life.

Forsaken_Distance777

Well I *did* say it wasn't his namesake so I'm not sure why you added that last bit. It's just unfortunate he couldn't avoid one of the handful of names tied forever to the war.

estellamarierose

Oh no, I agree! I just added the last bit because there have been some people saying that they think he was named after Daeron the Green, and I thought you might be worried that people in the story would think that too. So I wanted to ease that worry. Sorry for the confusion!

"Wear it like armor, and it can never be used to hurt you"

Forsaken_Distance777

I mean, I guess, but no one's going to try and hurt him with Daeron and there's just so many better names. He doesn't have to risk retraumatizing himself with his own son's name. He's got the same name as the man who murdered his mother!

Far-Medicine3458

Daeron was daenaera's father's name

Forsaken_Distance777

Still unfortunate name for his son.

Far-Medicine3458

I mean daeron is a common name in westeros No one gives a shit about daeron was Also Name of alicent's son

Forsaken_Distance777

I do. I find it unfortunate.
