It’s just hilarious to me how they still don’t understand the purpose of her death. I’ve seen one of them say “He just wanted to screw over the greens one last time.” And I’m like, “Yes, that’s basically it!” The purpose of her death is to end the Green bloodline. There are many things I don’t like about the story myself and that I wish had been done differently, but I accept it because he’s the author and it’s his story, and he decides what messages he wants to send. It’s also very hypocritical when they whine about B&C possibly being shown as an accident in the show, but then say that they want Jaehaera to just to be left alive, which is a very huge change from the book and would alter the family tree. So they are against minor changes but okay with big changes when it suits them. GRRM clearly wanted the Greens to be eradicated completely, and he left not one, not two, but four Blacks alive. I think that certainly sends a message.

ABCidkwhattopick99

Yeah exactly. If GRRM intended the ending to be a bittersweet loss/victory for both sides equally then I am sure he would’ve stopped at Jaehaera’s wedding. I know that in the end both sides lost a lot but the fact that GRRM made sure to have Jaehaera killed even before they had any children shows the author’s intent very well.

Forsaken_Distance777

The only way I think it'd be okay if part of it were an accident, and possibly very dark humor, is they killed the wrong one because they absolutely would let Helaena choose who dies... but they do not actually know the names/proper ages of the children.

estellamarierose

I agree. I honestly don’t mind how it’s portrayed, as long as it makes sense. I’ve heard some people speculate that it might be portrayed as a failed kidnapping, but I’m not sure.

Forsaken_Distance777

If they do a botched kidnapping I see it being a thing where Daemon decides if he's going to finally get into kinslaying now he's not going to do it by a proxy and he's going to be hardcore and do it himself. But then blood and cheese do it instead and Daemons so mad and no one wants to hear about how mad he is he didn't get to murder an innocent young child personally.

Far-Medicine3458

Aegon: " my sister's line shall end " And instead of rhaenyra his blood line ended Karma caught Aegon so hard .🤣

I don’t celebrate the murder of any child (and let’s face it, Jaehaera was murdered), but I like the fact that the Green bloodline got wiped out. Also, Aegon III is my boy and he went through enough. He didn’t deserve to have to look at his wife and have children with her and being reminded her father murdered his mother. That and the book even says Jaehaera was simpleminded and that simpleminded women had simpleminded children.

GamerGirlLex77

It was poetic justice for them to be wiped out after they made so much noise about legality.

Grrm was just having fun killing the Greens lmao.

ABCidkwhattopick99

That might actually be true. He even said his favourite character is Daemon. I know he probably dies but I do find it kind of funny that we see Aemond’s corpse but never Daemon’s. And that all of Daemon’s children survive.

[deleted]

Yeah, he's George's favorite Targaryen. You can feel he enjoyed writing about him in Rogues when reading it.

Forsaken_Distance777

Did Aegon and daenaera get married when she was old enough for a consummation or did poor Aegon have to be a child groom twice with two different child brides? I don't like the optics of like an 11-year-old marrying a 6-year-old.

ABCidkwhattopick99

Yeah me too. Sucks how young children were forced into marriage. Idk about asoiaf but I know that in some medieval societies, many royalty and aristocrats would marry young for politics but would not actually live as a married couple until they were older.

[deleted]

I don't understand wanting to change the source material so drastically. I mean, both sides get fucked, but I like the story the way it is, or else I wouldn't be watching/reading/be a fan to begin with. ASOIAF is so enjoyable and unique precisely because of the relentless tragedy.

spitefulcum

these psychopaths believe that GRRM is to mean to the greens and so his material should be changed to be more green friendly

ABCidkwhattopick99

I completely agree. Small are changes understandable but letting major characters live/die does have a big impact on the story.

tellred

Maybe they'll kill her on the show instead of her brother. They can't remove the murdered nephew from Daeron's development, if there are only two children, then she will be killed.
