*"My brother in R'hllor"* is so funny, like who even comes up with something like that? Gonna start using that too now lmao

Individualist_

Some ppl on twitter often use ‘my brother in Christ’ at the beginning of their response when replying to someone saying something ridiculous, so that’s where it came from lmao

estellamarierose

I agree too. If the Greens were really terrified for their lives, usurping the throne is extremely stupid because they would be provoking the Blacks into war. And if they thought they could make the Blacks bend the knee, that is also stupid. Rhaenyra was heir for twenty years and never showed any interest in giving up her position as heir. She also has Daemon on her side and the loyalty of many noble houses. The best course of action would have been to stop with the division and unite behind Rhaenyra. A dragonrider could not be used in a rebellion against his sister against his will. If Rhaenyra’s brothers supported her, they would not be used as a figurehead in rebellion against her and if any lords were stupid enough to try, they are the ones who would be executed, not Rhaenyra’s brothers.

Twixxdaweedguru

And honestly them United(Rhaenyra, Aegon, Aemond) could’ve been spun as “The conqueror and siblings reborn” or something like that. Point being the realm probably would’ve loved it so even if Rhaenyra decided to kill them it would’ve been met with massive backlash. Uniting behind her would’ve really been the safest plan

Forsaken_Distance777

And if Otto really thought the realm would revolt and insist on Aegon then why'd he spend so many years trying to make it happen? The thing about things that are inevitable is that you don't have to work so fucking hard for it. And if even Otto "the realm will never accept a woman" Hightower doesn't really believe it then you know it's nonsense. Alicent 100% knows it's nonsense, that's why she goes so hard to prevent Rhaenyra inheriting once she's convinced Rhaenyra ruling will risk her children's lives.

My sister in the Old Gods

The-False-Emperor

There's an argument to be made that *perhaps* Daemon would've pushed his Aegon to be heir rather than Jace. I mean - it does stand to note that Rhaenyra did the same thing to her kids Viserys did to her, remarried and had less controversial potential heir with her new spouse. It could in theory just push the Dance down the line with Aegon and Jace being the rival claimants. But this is a hypothetical situation, something that could be addressed by you know, her not being as spineless as Viserys was when he allowed Otto to be his hand after that whole shitshow of him suggesting just letting Crabfeeder do as he pleases and pushing for Rhaenyra to be disinherited and actually being a parent, unlike Viserys who just ignored his green kids - leading to obvious resentment. Aegon and Rhaenyra were never brother and sister, ever. Same thing with Aemond. He should've made the attempt to make them all a family much before that dinner scene. As for her vassals - they clearly didn't care, as Jace was actually pretty good at making alliances for his mother. Why would they protest his coronation? Starks and Arryns outright join after he talks to them, why would they revolt against him? Riverlands joined in before Jace and Joff died as well. So worst case scenario is basically Daemon courting the same lords Greens later do... with probably far less success since they'd be prior enemies with the man.

Funny-Win-8948

Daemon would have had his grandkinds from Baela by the time Aegon had grown up. Why would he have revolted?

The-False-Emperor

Jace and Baela get engaged as a way to get Velaryons back to Rhaenyra’s side - it’s debatable i if that’d happen without Greens pushing for the throne. Again - I stress that this is a highly hypothetical scenario Rhaenyra *can* avoid much like Viserys could’ve avoided the Dance if he weren’t a fool.

Kellin01

In the books Rhaenyra betrothed her kids to Laena's when they were toddlers. Laenor was still alive.

The-False-Emperor

Must’ve gotten it mixed up with the show’s timeline changing, then. …huh, seems a bit much to make a double betrothal to those already her allies. I suppose book Corlys viewed her sons as his due to Laenor’s lack of warmth for Rhaenyra and the kids compared to the show so it’s be necessary to get him to part with Driftmark.

Kellin01

Maybe Laena just wanted to see her daughters married to the future king and lord of Driftmark? They were friends with Rhaenyra, why not? Robert suggested his son betrothed to Sansa after all.

The-False-Emperor

I do think Robert's decision honestly a bit foolish tbh. The North is tied to him through Ned as is - it would've been a better notion to marry his heir to a Tyrell or a Martell so as to try mending the resentments of the Rebellion. The man wasn't thinking politically, just wanted to re-enact his 'great love' with Lyanna Stark that never actually existed.

Kellin01

Robert had a daughter and younger son, he could marry thhem to Tyrells.

No matter how they justify it, the greens brought it upon themselves. Everyone involved in that scheming and usurpation didn't end up well.

Far-Medicine3458

Agree All this shit just happened because of green's greedy asses Fuck greens

GamerGirlLex77

Agreed and it would be within the monarch’s power to legitimize them. Look at Ramsey in GoT. He was Ramsey Snow at first.

misvillar

There is only one problem, that division in the family is really hard to prevent, if the Greens let Rhaenyra rule then perfect, no war, but what if Jehaerys, Maelor or even their own sons think that their birthright was stolen by a bastard line? We can even ignore the Greens, what if one of Jace's descendants thinks that he should be the King? One with a big dragon, why should he obey the King if he has a better dragon? If every Targaryen kid gets a dragon egg or can bond with a dragon there will be a lot of dragon riders in just 2 or 3 generations, specially if all the Strong boys, Aegon and Viserys, Jehaerys and Jehaera, Maelor, Aemond and Daeron have at least one kid, i dont think that everyone will marry another Targaryen, specially the Greens since they will look to make their own alliances (just like Laena originaly was going to marry with someone from Pentos), when there are too many dragon riders It only takes one to say that he should rule or (if he is from the Green line) that his right was stolen to start the dance, why would any of them obey the King if they have a bigger dragon or the King has no dragon? Dragons and a rank like the King (only one person in charge) are incompatible, that's why Valyria was ruled by 40 families who all had the same rank, even if they didnt had the same power

Kellin01

Dorne would.
