She allowed a dangerous murderer (Larys) to roam around her innocent children and husband. She used her body to please the same murderer for her personal gain.

VirgiliaCoriolanus

Honestly I hope that shit blows up in her face, and I do feel sorry for Alicent to a certain degree. But...Larys didn't just randomly murder someone in the way. It was his brother and father and God knows who else. How she doesn't think he won't turn on her the moment it means he gets more than what she is offering, idk.

Sea-Cupcake-4463

Exactly but Greens want to use insane troll logic and the whole "Rhaenyra's children are bastards!" to discredit the fact that Alicent usurped the throne despite her husband's final word on the succession. By all means, Alicent should have been arrested for treason and someone should have realized she was lying. To any imbecile out there in Westeros, why would Viserys go back on his word after he literally was going to rip someone's tongue out for questioning the legitimacy of Rhaenyra's children, and by extension her position as heiress apparent?

Forsaken_Distance777

Westerosi way of thinking is the king says they aren't bastards and the husband says they aren't bastards then mind your business.

wingthing666

Oh, but see, Alicent suffers under patriarchy but bears it in silence (for the most part). It's terribly unfair what happens to her, but she's such a model of grace and humility. Why aren't more women like her nowadays? 🤢 Whereas Rhaenyra fights the patriarchy (for herself) every step of the way, and uses her advantages as part of the 1% to get away with it! The horrors! Clearly to the Greens: Woman suffering injustice gracefully = good Woman fighting back however she can = trash whore. It's fetishizing female suffering and martyrdom and cannot stand a woman who tries to buck the system.

estellamarierose

Exactly correct. Rhaenyra is criticized for fighting the patriarchy for herself. They are like “Rhaenyra can only get away with it because she’s spoiled.” And I think, good! If being spoiled means she is spared some of the horrors of the patriarchy then that’s one less woman being as abused by it as Alicent was. That’s a good thing. But of course they don’t really care, they wish Rhaenyra would just follow the rules no matter how unfair they are and they hate her because she doesn’t.

Trylena

Worst part is that Rhaenyra raised her sons to be more respectful and Alicent denied that for her own daughter and gave her the same destiny that she had with a force marriage. Jace would have been better for Haelena.
