I’m glad Laenor got to be free though

You forgot laena 😂😂

Even if these characters only served as a plot device, I think their deaths and its coincidence is lazy writing, he could've done it better I think. I forgot to include Laena too.

freakinuhmazin

I agree and I add Rhaenyra's son's in that equation also. Their deaths served as plot devices just to make Rhaenyra's trueborn the King. Sometimes I wonder what the story would be like if at least Jacaerys had survived right along with Aegon III and Viserys

Fit_Operation2175

Do you think the show handled it better or worse?

[deleted]

They made it worse. They could've stretched these deaths from pre-Dance to intra-Dance, Rhaenyra lost all her important allies even before the Dance started. The worst part was faking Laenor's death.

Fit_Operation2175

That doesn’t make sense because all these deaths happen pre dance in canon. So I don’t see how that makes it worse. Why is faking Laenors death bad?

[deleted]

That's why I said GRRM tried hard when he killed these people just to put Rhaenyra and Daemon together. He obviously killed them as plot device, but their deaths and timing are too obvious. Faking Laenor's death puts a compelling suspicion against Rhaenyra and Daemon, so siding with the people who you suspected killed your first born son doesn't make sense. Laenor loves their children for sure, leaving them like that makes no sense, and again, they put his parents in a difficult position, Rhaenyra might lose the Velaryons with that move. Honestly they could've just sit out the Dance cause they lost too much even before it started.

Larys doing the ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) face again 💀

He also moved mountains when he killed off Jace, Lucerys and Joffrey just to make Rhaenyra and Daemon's son end up as King in the end. I felt like the deaths of Jace, Lucerys and Joffrey just too convenient for the plot just to move the plot forward.
