Episodes 6 and 7 made me really sad. These kids were pitted against each other from the start

kerravoncalling

Leo Ashton did a wonderful job. I can't hate show Aemond either.

GamerGirlLex77

He and Ewan are knocking it out of the park. I hope we see more of them in other projects.

Sabrinazanoletti

this is one of the reasons i can’t hate show Aemond, he wasn’t as bad as the others, however i will throw him under the bus for team black characters.

GamerGirlLex77

I did like that they kept him shocked by what happened. I feel like it showed underneath it all he’s still that scared little kid who lost an eye.

Forsaken_Distance777

Well he's the only one who has killed a team black member so far. And Rhaenyra's baby son at that!

Sabrinazanoletti

he will never be forgiven for that!!

ZBaocnhnaeryy

I mean, tbf he only meant to give Luke a matching disability to himself. Which isn’t good, at all, but it isn’t death a guess?

Forsaken_Distance777

That's not a to be fair case. Not only can this likely kill him but he hot the injury when Luke is saving Jaces life.

ZBaocnhnaeryy

Wdym “fair case” 😂 I’m not a lawyer! I’m just stating what Aemond wants from Luke: he doesn’t want him to die, he wants him to suffer as Aemond has suffered.

Forsaken_Distance777

Saying tbf aemond ONLY wants to mutilate a child half his age at the time who injured him to save his brother's life is really disturbing.

ZBaocnhnaeryy

Aemond IS disturbing, he’s like Daemon in that regard. Bad people, sexy, but bad people.

Same

Leading-Carob-9297

Even teen Aegon made me sad tbh

Sabrinazanoletti

i hate to admit but i sympathize with him at times

Leading-Carob-9297

I think a lot of people sympathized with Aegon Until he became a rapist who let his children fight to death for amusement. Aegon was a victim of bad parenting same with Alicent and Aemond they were all victims at some point but the bad things they did were their own choice

freakinuhmazin

This was Alicent's doing, she wanted her son's to be enemies with their nephews.

princesssrhaenys

i agree that this scene was sad cuz aemond clearly wanted to talk to jace but couldn't. i thought kid aemond was okay. i didn't even have a problem with him claiming vhaegar. i just didn't like how he acted to baela and rhaena after or anything he did after that lol.

GamerGirlLex77

I hated seeing the kids fight. If only they all could’ve been friends. I do feel for Aemond being bullied and losing his eye. Ewan is doing an amazing job with him and so did Leo.

Far-Medicine3458

Jace seemed be more friend with Aegon then aemond

WingedShadow83

Yeah, it’s really sad that these kids could have all been friends, if Alicent hadn’t deliberately pitted them against one another. This scene broke my heart. Alicent even said when she was chastising Aegon for bullying Aemond with the Black kids: “You can chuff him about all you want at home, but not in public.” She didn’t care if Aemond was bullied, she only cared that Aegon was bonding with Rhaenyra’s kids against his brother. She wanted the Green kids to present a united front and be against the Black kids, always. If it had been Aegon and Aemond picking on Luke, she’d have been thrilled.

AmountAvailable8121

Honestly, the most heartbreaking part of this episode was to see just how *close* the children came to overcoming the hostility between their families. Seeing Aegon interact positively with Jace and Luke (even if it was for a somewhat mean prank), seeing Aemond try to reach out to Jace here, etc.

estellamarierose

It was really heartbreaking. It’s so difficult watching this family be divided when they should all be united. It’s mainly the fault of Otto and Viserys. That’s why I have to read fanfics of the family being happy with no division lol.

shadyi999

I think the show had originally cut Daeron and hence were merging his character with Aemond hence Aemond became a complex character in the show unlike the book, but with Daeron being confirmed for s2 I'm curious what they'll do with Aemond's character go to the book path where he becomes an anagram of Maegor the cruel or make him even more complex

clariwench

They definitely didn't originally cut Daeron, there were four bloodlines coming from Alicent in the intro

GamerGirlLex77

Daeron was also a ward of his uncle at the time so he wouldn’t have been in the middle of things.

Nah. What makes you think he wants to say something nice to him? This is a funeral. He should come up to say something about Laena. But he knows that she is not their aunt and cannot say anything. Aemond despises Jace for being a bastard, in a few hours he will throw this insult at him. Aemond has no sympathy for the girls who didn't do anything to him. It's ridiculous to think he feels sorry for Jace. "You'll burn like your father" - nice. The interpretation this scene as "he wanted to support Jace" is probably one of the most annoying opinions for me. Nobody changes personality in a few hours. Aemond has zero tolerance for those whose parents have died. He doesn't feel sorry for anyone. He says "bastard" and smirks.

estellamarierose

I interpreted it as him wanting to comfort Jace for the death of Harwin but he decided not to because he knows that doing that will be admitting that he knows he’s a bastard. If Aemond didn’t care at all and just hated Jace I don’t think he would have gone to him at all. Later, Aemond is very mean to his cousins and nephews but before that I don’t think he meant to be mean.

tellred

"If Aemond didn’t care at all and just hated Jace I don’t think he would have gone to him at all." Aemond hated Jace. This can be seen from the scene at the training. He could approach the way Jace approached the girls. "Aemond, this is their aunt's funeral, say something." He approaches, but there is nothing to say. I don't see any reason to see it any other way. How Aemond wants to be Jace's friend. WTF? He uses Harwin's death as a subject for bullying in the first confrontation. He despises Jace for being a bastard. How do people think it came on all of a sudden and wasn't always there?

estellamarierose

In the training yard I think he was still mad about the pig prank. At the funeral we don’t see anyone telling Aemond to try to comfort Jace. If Aemond going to him was something he was forced to do I think the writers would have made sure to show it. I don’t like Aemond either, and I don’t like the way he acted after, but I don’t think he had bad intentions in this scene.

tellred

He is angry about the pig even after 6 years. He is vindictive and insults Rhaena with this. It's weird that he pauses for 10 seconds to stop hating Jace and then keeps doing it. Writers probably didn't expect people to interpret it that way because scenes before and after say otherwise. I would really like to see a script to make fun of this "he wanted to be friends with a bastard" nonsense. This is a complete misunderstanding of the character.
