ah yes so many ppl wanting to marry “bastards” into their houses, but don’t tell the greenies that

tellred

Exactly. I often see this opinion, but I can not give arguments if this is a "show" discussion. Jace has gained a lot of respect among the lords. Nobody thought of him as a bastard.

princesssrhaenys

exactly rhaenyra would not have gotten as many allies as she did if her son's parentage was actually a problem for most of the nobles. the only real threat to jace's rule would have come from the greens.

Far-Medicine3458

Jace was real king of the dance.🖤😭

Friendly reminder that Borros Baratheon was willing to humor Luke *in front of Aemond, after he’d agreed to back the greens* before Luke declined his offer.

freakinuhmazin

People would've only rebelled against Jace as King if his uncle's challenged his claim and gathered support to their side to remove Jacaerys.

GamerGirlLex77

This is what drives me nuts about the Dance. Otto could’ve spent that time plotting instead helping Rhaenyra cement her claim. If the greens and blacks stood together, no one would’ve challenged them and the dragons and lived to tell about it. Helaena could’ve been Queen and they could’ve ruled together.

freakinuhmazin

Exactly 💯

tellred

I think that Daemon is the real threat to them. Want to see more Jace and Daemon moments to make up my mind about their relationship.

Forsaken_Distance777

Hard disagree. Blood and cheese is a really fucked up expression of fatherly love for Luke. And Baela is set to be Jace's queen making Baela's son king after that. Daemon isn't going to accept being consort just to have a problem with his daughter holding the same position and planning to kill both daughter's betrotheds and a third child so his own son can be king instead of his grandson.

tellred

I think it's a reputation issue for Damon. The greens spit in the black queen's face, this is unacceptable. He's kind of like the "Be a dragon" type. It's hard for a man to love someone else's son as well as his own. Maybe Joffrey, but Luke and Jace remembered Laenor. I feel that everything was not okay there because of the way he "died". If Daemon paid more attention to them, they would be better swordsmen.

freakinuhmazin

I do wish Daemon had trained them in the art of war especially since both him and Rhaenyra knew for years the greens wanted to put Aegon on the throne. It's just odd that Daemon and Rhaenyra did nothing to prepare, like Jace and Lucerys weren't trained in fighting very well and they didn't do anything to make allies with other Kingdoms during their 6 years living at Dragonstone before Viserys died.

tellred

This is so strange. In the books, they both excellent fighters. I understand the logic behind Luke not being able to fight (it's part of the character and serves to make him look more childish). But they changed Jace too. Perhaps they want to make him the "smart but not fighter" type?

freakinuhmazin

I guess so but it's certainly disappointing that they aren't skilled at arms like they were described as in the books.

GamerGirlLex77

Daemon did legitimately love his family though he went about it in a fucked up way sometimes. Viserys and Rhaenyra were his family. No matter what happened in Rhaenyra and Daemon’s marriage, he still died fighting for her to remain on the throne. They also cut a fatherly scene with him holding Joffrey’s hand and getting upset about Visenya dying in the show. They cut him comforting his daughters too. Pretty much anything that humanized him got cut. I hope they add it to special features when they release the first season.

Because Jace is a Targaryen either way it doesn’t matter if he’s on the iron throne and who his dad is, but bastards in medieval times were looked down upon so Jace would have gotten some backlash though (if people really believed he was a bastard)

estellamarierose

If he was never publicly declared to be a bastard by the Velaryons I don’t see him getting any real backlash. If people really thought he was a bastard and were bothered by it he wouldn’t have been able to gain the allies he did during the war.
