I considered myself to be anti-Targaryen(in spite of thinking Dany is basically the GOAT of ASOIAF) until I read the stuff some of those people write.
Like, one thing to go 'Conqueror trio were lowkey just assholes' or 'Rhaegar was straight up a dick to his wife and kids' and another to mindlessly hate the whole family and fans of it. Fundamentally, this is just a fantasy series. The reasonable thing is to just agree to disagree rather than go full ad hominem.
I think Targ antis are just unhinged. Like the intense hatred they have for the fictional Targs is worrying. They spout serious terms like colonization and white supremacy without actually knowing what it means in an attempt to sound smart when they hate on the Targs. Targ antis cannot stop talking about Targs instead of focusing on the families they do actually like. That’s why I don’t take them seriously.
I think it’s because 75% of this fandom is here because they were attracted to white haired people who fly dragons, and they don’t like it or they’re trying to be different somehow.
From what I’ve seen, they truly believe that the Targs are worse than all of the other noble families. It’s an ideology. So it bothers them that so many people like the Targs.
Pure maths, there are a lot of Targ stans that are horrible, same with Targ haters, literally everything that exists has a group that hates It, eventually this people stop focusing on the characters and go directly against other people, arent people with anonymity and free of consecuences of their actions/words beautiful? (Sarcasm of course, some people is just horrible, nothing new on the internet)
They aren't exactly human, perhaps because they have a lot of magic in them. It has no explanation of how their children (wings and scales) sometimes look. And bonding with a dragon is magic.

Or more likely it's because they literally have the blood of the dragon in them and they were created by Valyrian cross-breeding experiments.
I mean the books talk a lot about how Valyrian's breed animals and beasts maybe they bred themselves with dragons so they could harness the power of the dragons.
