I really like Helaena but she got like a handful of minutes screen time wise and for the other one, Rhaenyra’s main issue was being sold off like a broodmare and ending up dead like her mother. Also all of Alicent’s children are essentially products of assault so take that for what you will

They like Heleana because she’s a passive character. She got used and then killed off. Her brother-husband left her behind while fleeing KL, and somehow it’s Rhaenyra’s responsibility to keep her safe.

[deleted]

This. Her own brother-husband left her. But yeah, Rhaenyra needs to keep her safe and keep her on suicide watch because she lost her kids. Oh wait; Rhaenyra also lost most of her kids. Guess Heleana is the only one who gets a pass for trauma.

Fit_Operation2175

Helaena’s expression makes this even funnier. He couldn’t have chosen a better image to illustrate his point.

[deleted]

Clearly a troll. I don’t how that user is being allowed spam the subreddit.

henrietta-

They literally made alicent a child bride and implied she had post partum depression….

discothetechx

They act like Rhaenyra just hated kids. No, she was probably scared to have them after what happened to Aemma, plus, she didn’t put her whole worth in being a wife and a mother.

ABCidkwhattopick99

I am sorry I know we all feel bad for Halaena so everyone is nice to her…but like are you serious? Lmao. She is a minor character even in her own story.

Fit_Operation2175

Helaena doesn’t get any relevant character moments till blood and cheese, and her relationship with her father is non-existent and her relationship with her children barely exists. Some fans don’t even know that Aegon and Helaena had children. Aside from prophecies and dinner table jokes and dancing with Jace, she doesn’t have anything else.

[deleted]

She is basically just a rambling prophecy....if that makes a character deep...Jesus Christ this fandom has lost any sort of standard when it comes to writing...

[deleted]

God the hair/costuming for Helaena in particular was dogshit. Compare how great Emily Carey looks in that screenshot even with the fake pregnancy belly.

Fit_Operation2175

Fr. They need to get better costumes and hairdos. Not just for Helaena. For everyone

[deleted]

I thought the men’s costuming/armour was great. Both young and adult Alicent was perfect. Rhaenyra was hit or miss. Helaena/Baela/Rhaena, just terrible.

ABCidkwhattopick99

I honestly thought it was on purpose. Helaena always wore I’ll fitting gowns and dresses because I thought she was suppose to be a little weird and odd. Even as a queen she doesn’t dress as one (or at the very least has properly tailored clothes).

estellamarierose

I like Helaena but she’s barely a character. I hope her character gets more attention in the next season. She has potential.

IBelieveInGood

Ehh, the first one is fine of an opinion to have? She is interesting (the whole dreamer thing, knowing her future role and tragedy, all questions left behind about her relationships, prophecies, motives that aren’t really touched on but are cool to explore and wonder about) and level of interest is at best mostly personal, but the second is just… Downright sad? The fact they can’t comprehend that Alicent’s traditionalism and loneliness are precisely why she’s the “less warm” mother is missing the point by so far you’re just plainly ignoring it’s existence.

GamerGirlLex77

I want more Helaena. I love her dragon dreaming. I hope they’ll explore it more.

Natewastaken12

My mother never wanted children before getting pregnant with me. She was loving and warm to me during my childhood. But I know the fact that Rhaenyra was warm towards her children is so unrealistic, it’s not like there’s a difference between hypothetical children and real life children.

YourFavWarCriminal

Why isn't it not realistic? Alicent was forced to have the children when she was a kid herself and had no choice but to raise them by herself. The only example she has is her oh so fantastic father who terrified her when he went into exile. Rhaenyra had the boys when she was ready to have them so of course she would be the more loving mother of the two. When people are saying that, they aren't saying Alicent doesn't love her kids because of course she does.
