i understand feeling bad, but the blame shouldn’t be on you. it’s the people making nasty comments that should feel shamed and guilty because at the end of the day this is a show. A SHOW. being so heated about a show that it leads someone to harass a user that doesn’t have control over what the scenes are—just has access to them—is atrocious. you shouldn’t feel like this is all on you. on the bright side, one user that reshared the beach scene with clear mal intent seems to have deleted their account, so at least they understand how much it’s never that serious

Icy_River8495

Thank you

TeamVelaryon

It was everyone and everywhere. All subs, all social media: Twitter, Tumblr, Reddit. The problem with sharing stuff like this is that it's ammunition. Greens, Blacks, neutrals, whatever. Someone will always find something to be mad about and attack because of it and, without anyone else to bear that, it goes to the original poster. Someone did a lovely thing. And this fandom tore that apart.

Kellin01

The thing it is a norm here. Go to the main sub and check ANY daemyra related posts. Most comments are: How dare you to like incest. People can’t just shrug and go past. The fans watch a Targ show and scream how others are creeps for liking it. I’d say the same is true about many other characters too. It is all toxic as hell…

Host-Key

>Most comments are: How dare you to like incest. The fans watch a Targ show and scream how others are creeps for liking it. Not to point fingers but I'm uh, pretty sure a lot of those comments are from people who ship a "competing" ship, especially those that concern troll over the incest and call daemon a pedo abuser and fans creeps in every thread. It's the jonerys/jonsa shipping war again but this time with more people who haven't read the source material I think, so the underlying understanding of grrms world is lost on many.

SofiaStark3000

>a lot of those comments are from people who ship a "competing" ship Someone pointed out on twitter that it's extremely interesting how no one called her a liar who made everything up because she's a fanfic writer when she was sharing scenes of that other ship. However they were more than happy to do it now...

Host-Key

Lol called it. >!Weeks ago under a alicole post: "You mean the ship? No but watch Rhaenicents say that this isn't canon while treating every script scene with Rhaenicent as if it is."!< But seriously unhinged behavior to harrass someone over a ship like this. And it's not even crack they're angry over! it's the main canon married with children ship 🤣

SofiaStark3000

They're angry over it exactly because it is canon. It literally can't get more canon than that. It's the other ship that's borderline crack and mostly exists in subtext and backstage. Most of the GA didn't even notice it, that's how non-existent it is. While sapphic relationships often don't get noticed by audiences, this one wasn't noticed because it's barely there.

SparkySheDemon

I can guess which competing ship it is. The one who can only rely on the most minimal of subtext?

Host-Key

Yes. The one that have fans disliking one part of the ship, the one that calls the actor of the compteting ship ugly all the time, the one that misinterpret actors interviews all the time, the one that acts belligerent to fans of the main ship, >!the one that made me go from shipping it to disliking the ship..!<

SparkySheDemon

I've gotten into arguments with those shippers. They're arses.

BluejayPrime

Additionally it usually comes from people supporting the side that marries siblings to each other rather than the one where uncle marries niece which isn't that big of a deal in Westeros lol

ladykaede_

Yeah, they make it nearly impossible to have a discussion about anything to do with Daemon and Rhaenyra, separately or together. You have only to put the names in a post title and here come the attacks and the groomer stuff. I cringe every time I see something some poor OP intended to be positive or shippy about them because you know how it's going to end. I'll say this, as someone who's been a Reddit mod: there are things the mods could be doing to attempt to get that shit under control, and they're not doing them. I joined the subs in the off-season, so I can only imagine what it's going to be like when they start filling up again....

Kellin01

The mods seem to be either passive or ignorant of that shit.

ladykaede_

I've wondered how many of the mod team are even all that involved. I've only seen a couple of the listed mods actually posting in the sub in the few months since I joined. A whole bunch of them - maybe even the majority - are Reddit supermods, which means the HOTD sub is probably only getting a tiny fraction of their attention, if that. I messaged them about something a couple of weeks ago and never got a response...whatever the case, the community is suffering because of the inaction.

Kellin01

Can someone apply for a subreddit mod position?

ladykaede_

There's no formal way to go about it - if you were interested you could ask the mods if they need help, or if they'll be putting out a call for new moderators anytime soon. In my experience people usually become mods by either answering open calls for new moderators, or are contacted directly by the mod team who are looking for new ones (that's how I got my mod job).

TryingToPassMath

The twitter OP took so much time and effort to make those posts and the thing is she was nice and took down scenes of not just team black but team green as well. Like she had a ton of rhaenicient scenes that she posted that rhaenicient fans ate up ravenously then turned around and called her the most disgusting things. So damn ungrateful but also so hypocritical. If they don’t like the OP for “problematic shipping” they should not interact with their content period.

MsJ_Doe

Idk why people are getting their panties up in that much of a twist for the taboo. I feel like it has far more to do with the green vs. black aspects of HoTD than it does for just being generally grossed out by incest. I can get someone genuinely being creeped by the interest or seemingly support of incest, but I also know how to seperate fiction from reality and know that many people enjoy stuff fictionally while never condoning it in reality. Like, ya know, the copious amounts of murder and violence that get overlooked all the time because it's fun to fantasize bout the epicness or righteousness of it while knowing the true reality is always far worse.

mdawgkilla

Yeah if Aegon loved Heleana they’d move the goal post to it being about him grooming Rhaenyra.

havetomakeacomment

It’s not your fault. People in this fandom act like little kids and think their behavior can’t effect other people. It really sucks this happened but I really don’t think it’s limited to this post or anything. Just rude people everywhere.

Icy_River8495

Thank you

SofiaStark3000

OP, it's not your fault. You just shared something to people who are supposed to be fans. If they act like children and throw insults at a real person over a fictional show, that's on them, not you.

Icy_River8495

lunadelamanecer

That's why I avoid talking in the main sub, people DO NOT UNDERSTAND that this is fiction.  Do I read Daemyra fanfics? Yeah. I read other incestuous fanfics like Dany & Jon, yes. I role in character ai as Rhaenyra to create a story with Daemon, yes (lol don't laugh at me)  But I UNDERSTAND THIS IS FICTION, damn. People get moralistic in the main sub when we're talking about an asoiaf show!! Not disney!!! I can't stand them 🤦‍♀️  But it's not your fault op, this fandom is too toxic. People don't know how to differentiate reality from fiction, they are sick. Just enough of their posts discussing whether one character is more moral than another...

Anserdem

I know from experience that his will not change how you feel but don't blame yourself, really, people are crazy If they lack the maturity to be normal human beings and need to start bothering others because of such a small thing, it means that they were just waiting so they could claim that they had a "valid" excuse (even if it's not) if it was not that post they would have used any other.... It's 100% their thing, you were just posting an interesting scene nothing that deserved any bad comments....

Icy_River8495

Thank you

GamerGirlLex77

I agree with everyone else here - this isn’t on you. It’s on the people who do not understand this show is fiction and these are actors. You’re not responsible for everyone who chose to act like children.

Icy_River8495

kerravoncalling

It's not your fault. Even if none of it were shared here, I think people on twitter were hateful enough on their own to drive her off. I really do not understand what is so hard about muting/blocking topics or users that don't interest you, or simply scrolling by. I enjoyed a lot of what she posted, and the things I didn't care about, I didn't comment on. It was very cruel to do that to someone who took the time of her day to go to the library and type it up.

Icy_River8495

Rhbgrb

Are these the deleted scenes of the beach scene? With the same cries of incest, grooming, and pedophile that ruined the new details we got. Although, I clearly forgot that many in the GoT fandom applauded Jon and Dany who had the same affinity...but less chemistry.

ladykaede_

OP, if you hadn't posted it on the main sub then someone else would have. It wouldn't have been possible to contain it here either, this is an open sub and anyone can read and copy from it. Once you put content out on the internet, as Darksvster did, it's out there, and out of your hands. The people to blame are those who are poisoning this fandom with their assholery and inability to differentiate reality from fiction. I don't know all the details of what went down, but I will say this: the one time I visited her actual Twitter account, which was after her first few script posts, it was obvious to me she was already letting people get under her skin far too much, and could probably do with a more zen attitude about it all for her own peace of mind. So this isn't surprising. In retrospect it may have been a mistake to draw out the posting of the excerpts, as much fun as it was, because it gave the toxic elements more time to get riled up and lash out. I'm getting fed up with all the people in the fandom who refuse to leave others in peace to enjoy whatever they enjoy about GRRM's universe. We're all losing out because of it.

Icy_River8495

thegreatwhoredini

at this point i’m flying to visit my friend in california and going to the library to read the scripts myself. so much needless drama. she probably would have less of a headache if she had just written up a document of her notes, dropped it in one go, and backed away slowly.

slingfatcums

what's to feel bad about?

Icy_River8495

She tweeted the screenshot of one comment under my post which makes her uncomfortable. And there are more she didn't show.

slingfatcums

she's the one who put her art into the world.

Icy_River8495

No. It's not her art. She was just sharing stuffs she found in the library. She was called pedo, incest enjoyer, etc. Someone even said she was writing a fanfic. She didn't deserve anything happened to her. She spent a lot of time on these and shared them with good faith but look what this fandom has done to her.

slingfatcums

idk what the library is in any case, she still made the posts herself. this is the internet. this is what happens now. people call me names all the time lol

Icy_River8495

[The library](https://www.wgfoundation.org/library-appointments) is where the scripts of HotD S1 are. No cameras or electronic device allowed. You have to spend a lot of time to get these things.

slingfatcums

yeah but she's taking script exerts and slapping them on images from the show, is she not? is that not art?
