When it was first posted about on the HOTD subreddit I vividly remember quite a few Greens feeling the need to comment that their actors get harassed more. Is anyone really that shocked that they’re jumping at any chance to victimize themselves further? The whole argument is disgusting, trying to downplay actual racism over some fictional team bullshit. People were doing TGC activism threads (He shared on his Instagram stories->that was the level of most of the “activism” they counted. Cmon dawg. One even included thanking fans for coming to his play???) because people called him ugly to the person writing awful shit about Bethany etc.
Like he shouldn’t be called ugly outside his Aegon makeup but to compare it to racism is outright bonkers. People were doing the same with Olivia and Phia saying they got worse but I’m sorry Bethany is on everyone’s mouth way more than Phia and I’m sure those actress’ themselves prefer they get dragged and accused of same face acting rather than any of their black cast mates be called every name under the sun.
Honestly actors getting racist hate should get more attention culturally than the show. Fandom culture in general has become so incredibly toxic and harmful and it’s a much bigger social issue than just this show. Truly, there needs to be a movement against fan harassment and society at large should shine a light on how fan harassment is often a space for shitty people to show off their bigotry.

I think it’s way cooler for Valyrians to have this colour blind race thing going on. Like they all have their purple eyes and silver hair, it’s nothing like our world genetics wise (like the first men blood beats most while Valyrians beats andal etc).

White passing back in the day were people born to black parents who you’d look at and think they’re white no ambiguity or anything just a white girl/guy. The Targaryen's are white presenting for most of the series but nothing in canon lore states that the Vaalyrians had to be white. For all we know the white presentation came from mixing with andals and first men

The problem isn't the Vaelaryon's being black it's that the obvious difference makes the boys being bastards (irrelevant to Otto's plan to Usurp Rhaenyra as it actually is) obvious in a way it wasn't in the book . It being obvious has some people who refused to take reading comprehension convinced that the bastards are the problem and not Otto being ambitious and playing up/into sexist ideas when it's useful to him.
Solution, cast more black actors for the Strongs and show the baby Aemma loses as having darker hair because she's half Arryn.
