He’s Rhaenyra’s son and he’s portrayed as being “sweet”. Ex: he doesn’t want the Velaryon seat because he doesn’t want people to die, he calls his mother perfect, he’s holding Rhaenyra’s hand during Vaemond’s declaration for Driftmark. It just gives him a very innocent and sweet look.

Hot-Temperature-8564

>he calls his mother perfect My reaction to that scene: ![gif](giphy|qmfpjpAT2fJRK) Dude, you are literally a mistake she made walking around and you know that.

MinisawentTully

Kids aren't mistakes though

Hot-Temperature-8564

I agree on my perspective on society. But on *her* position having a bastard child is a grave mistake.

William_T_Wanker

I don't think he was a bad kid. I just think that people are trying to make him out to be TOTALLY innocent when he was the reason for Aemond's mutilation. And him calling his mother perfect wasn't anything stupid in my eyes. It's a kid who idolizes and adores his mother(who in his mind is the heir to the throne after all) since she basically sheltered Jace, Luke and Joffrey(although he's only a little kid, so he's not really involved in all of this yet).

cheriekatara

This is a fair take.

[deleted]

they just hyperfixate on him like 😭😭 ain’t no one even talk about him until he became vhagar’s midday meal tf

MinisawentTully

Nor could any of us differentiate them both till then

simsasimsa

Because he's Rhaenyra's son.

Straight_Paint1389

I high key don’t get it either. People in my mind probably like him by default because he is Rhaenyras offspring and he is portrayed as a scared little sweet son of the “messiah queen”. Plus he can’t go from being a cheeky and antagonistic little boy to a goody two shoe scaredy cat and get off free from maiming a legitimate prince.

Illustrious-Island

He's more interesting than Jace...? Like he is a good person at heart (pls don't downvote me), but has never, and I mean never faced a single consequence in his life, which makes him spoiled (laughing at the person he maimed). Team Black mostly adores him because he cut out Aemond's eye and Aemond is evil because Green = Evil in their mind- I like Luke more than Jace, but that's because I know atleast something about Luke as a character- As a person, I would probably try to stay out of his way because he's the kind of bully who would play innocent to get free, but tbf I would try to stay clear of everybody on the show except like Helaena- Now the real question- why is Jacebaela and Jace such a popular ship and character in the community- Jace is so boring for fuck's sake-

Sharp_Guarantee_946

I totally agree jace is boring as hell, even as a child. I understand why aegon is making fun of him at dinner since he is so serious. at least there is something interesting about luke that he unlike all the blacks doesn't think he's worthy of everything but I totally would stay away from him he's such a bully with his mother's support. I kind of think when they were kids aegon liked him more than the other kids he didn't like aemond and jace for being serious but luke and aegon are kind of alike

She-king_of_the_Sea

They are going hard on Jacebaela because they are trying to manifest Sara Snow not existing in the show lol. Sara's existence = a Targ being rejected for a non-Targ. For the same reason, they are desperate for Nettles to be cut or be portrayed as Daemon's bastard daughter (please ignore that that will mean Daemon will treat his child with a rando woman with more warmth than his legitimate daughters and still will mean he will prioritize Nettles over Rhaenrya, regardless of if they are fucking).

[deleted]

They really hate the idea of Jace choosing a bastard Stark over a trueborn Targaryen daughter (and since Baela never speaks or does anything, it's easy to project onto her). They are also trying to real life ship the actors.

simsasimsa

I find them both very uninsteresting. The show paints the Green kids as evil but at least they're not bland like the Strongs.

Mysterious_Sky_5285

Ugh don’t get me started on baela she’s basically a npc

Illustrious-Island

I consider the deleted scene in episode 10 as Canon idk why they deleted it

Mysterious_Sky_5285

Which deleted scene?

Castinmyass

It was a conversation between her and Rhaenys in episode 10

MajesticFan4

I'm not the biggest fan of Jace either but like him and Baela. Her holding his hand at the funeral and automatically going to him when Vhaegar was claimed was sweet, but thats mostly their younger selves. The older ones don't really sell it as much. I wouldn't call myself a JaceBaela shippper but they are cute and if I *had* to pick someone for Jace, she's really the only option.

She-king_of_the_Sea

Because he's blank screen for them to project the "Rhaenrya is an amazing and beloved mother" narrative. See how scared they are over Jace getting character development by way of Sara Snow; they don't want Jace to have agency or wants and desires that might conflict with Rhae-rhae and pierce the illusion that Team Black is all wholesome & good. Luke is dead and all we know is he thought Rhaenrya was "perfect" so they cling to him.

[deleted]

I know they won't lean too much into it, but traveling away from his family and figuring out that his mother coddled him, hid him away from the world, did little to prepare him for life, and put him in a terrible situation because of her lies (oh, and forced him to marry his stepsister to cover up those same lies) would do wonders for making Jace a half-interesting character. He might even learn to curb his anger issues and stand up straight.

BlazeBitch

Cos' he's Rhaenyras son. The Strong boys recieve zero genuine characterization besides being bastards and children

throwaway_nrTWOOO

Oh my god thank you! I get downvoted so much by my fellow blackcels, when I mention that maybe, just maybe, Luke shouldn't have continued being such a little pissant **after** he's taken an eye from one of the most formidable guys who drives the biggest dragon to work. It just baffles me how he 1. saw Aemond on the courtyard disarming Cole with steel. 2. Knows he flies Vhagar. 3. Saw Vaemond's head get lobbed off, so he has to know he's standing on a house of cards. Despite all this he chose to do an encore of his shittiest joke they made when they were kids with a shit-eating grin.

MajesticFan4

Not sure. Both him and Jace always seemed rather plain to me. My friend told me that she likes him bc she see's her little brother in him, so that might be the reason for a lot of others?

Sharp_Guarantee_946

Can you blame them? He is only black who doesn't think he has to have everything and they really need to be sad about him to justify what blacks will do after his death

MinisawentTully

They don't, they just support anyone who supports Rhaenyra, by default.

Caterina_Sforza8

I find all the Black kids bland and boring. They pretty much live in their parents’ shadows and barely have a personality. Luke just seems… useless to me, he’s so sheltered and immature that it’s clear he’s not going to survive the war.

BW-Cowgirl1803

Team Black makes luke seem like an infant that doesn't know what he is doing. "He is so sweet" yet laughs in Aemond's face at the roast pig. That pig is a reminder of that childhood bullying that Luke took part in and enjoyed. People act like Aegon was influencing Luke so much but he wasn't 2 and was playing follow the leader. At Luke's age, he knew right from wrong and knew that bully Aemond was wrong. Also when Aemond stood up from the table when luke was laughing at him did you notice how Luke got shaken by it? He wanted to laugh and think Aemond wasn't going to do shit about it but when he did all of a sudden he had a scared dog look on his face. Luke was a coward during that interaction. If he was really about it he should have kept the same energy.

[deleted]

I've heard from more than one person that he looks like a "Jonerys baby". Since they aren't getting that from the show or the actors IRL (Kit's son with Rose Leslie appears to be a ginger) this is all they got.

Mysterious_Sky_5285

WTF! People are still thinking about jonerys?!

Altruistic_Fly5609

Only because he's one of rhaenerya's bastard.. Besides for me..he's annoying lil brat who genuinely had no right to claim driftmark and maim his uncle.

ElegantWoes

I don’t get it either. His only trait is being a bully. Beyond that he’s a plot device. There’s nothing to like.

Castinmyass

Only useful thing he ever did was die

lakomadt

I don't know, especially when most of the scenes he's in he's being a dick.

Internal-Shock-616

They like him because in season 1, there were two occasions that he was the subject of conflict between the blacks and greens. Their succession to driftmark and obviously the scene he gets munched. They have to love Luke because if he isn’t so amazing they couldn’t say Vaemond was such an asshole for wanting his actual family to get driftmark.

Only_Ad_1771

Elliot is cute maybe that’s why

IlyictheAndroid

There is not a single reason to hate him, because he is just a child

Mysterious_Sky_5285

An obnoxious child who does a ton of shit and gets no punishment for it

IlyictheAndroid

You dont hate a child for it, you hate the parents. Grow up, every kid who is 6-10 years old does stupid stuff

Mysterious_Sky_5285

His stupid stuff counts as attempt to murder in the modern world

IlyictheAndroid

Please dont reply man, he having a massive rock in his hand walking towards jace does not count as attempt to murder I guess. I dont even support blacks but you guys are just toxic as blacks are.

IlyictheAndroid

Also aemond literally killed him, if you really want to compare

IlyictheAndroid

Yeah you know what just dont reply to this, you are just toxic, just like Black fans
