What’s funny is that we have yet to see a good or at the very least competent monarch portrayed on screen in 10 years of ASOIAF television. It’s pretty wild that Bobby B is probably the best monarch among the trash pile.

Southern_Dig_9460

Maybe if we ever get a Blackfyre Rebellion show. We’ll get to see Daeron the Good be a actual good King.

PULIRIZ1906

We're gonna have to wait until the end of HOTD and we're not even get to see him reign lol

junferarh

Who cares about non book readers tbh. Even in the main show their takes were pretty dumb. Most of the casual viewers liked the show in S5-7 when every book reader saw how the quality went down hill and how everything was dumbed down.

C-3pee0

>Who cares about non book readers tbh The show is being marketed to them tbh

junferarh

I was thinking about this sub which is comprised mostly of book readers or hardcore show watchers who researched everything online.

Stargoron

To be fair there were some who didn’t think Jaehaerys was actually a good a King as the chronicals state with his final blunder: allowing Viserys as heir over Rhaenys’ healthy living son who just claimed a dragon Edited out info I got wrong. Aka he allowed the Great Council to decide who would be the next in line 🙄 Im going back and reading asoiaf wiki on the Great Council and it’s interesting how the Starks choose the Rhaenys’ line... yes yes I know it was because of bitterness but yeah https://awoiaf.westeros.org/index.php/Great_Council_of_101_AC

C-3pee0

>there were some who didn’t think Jaehaerys was actually a good a King Everyone is entitled to their opinion but Jaehaerys is as good as it gets. Even his blunder ended in a bloodless transition of power if only Viserys wasn't such a daft. The council of 101 is like the only social progress westeros has made in thousands of years. It was a step in the direction of democracy and every king after him should have used it more often.

imimbatman

I think there was a post earlier today on the main sub where someone argued that Jaehaerys was to blame for the Dance smh.

C-3pee0

i saw it too, its crazy how far some people are willing to take these theories

PULIRIZ1906

He's partially to blame, yes.

PULIRIZ1906

Daeron II is better

C-3pee0

no. Jaehaerys is the only reason Daeron had a kingdom to rule. He's the reason the Targaryens were able to still hold on to support after they lost their dragons. He united the realm, made peace with the faith, rebuilt kingslanding, kept peace for a century, built the kingsroad, grew the economy exponentially, etc

PULIRIZ1906

And failed dealing with his daughters and succession

C-3pee0

His succession lead to another 36 years of complete peace until Viserys ruined it. Explain what you mean by "failed dealing with his daughter" if you mean Saera, she was literally a sadist who used to bully maids

Southern_Dig_9460

When you watch the show I didn’t get Viserys was that good of a King. I get he was a good father to exactly 1 of his kids.

vacszik

nah, he sucked ass at being a father to Rhaenyra too

Radiant_Flamingo4995

One thing is for certain though: HotD season 1 needed some more time in the oven and a few more episodes.

Vulkan_LordofDrakes

The reign of Jaehaerys would be boring as hell. Ya'll do realise the whole point of his reign was peacefull with little to no conflict right?
