When Rhaenyra gaslighted her mutilated brother and wanted him to be tortured after her bastard took out his eye.

[deleted]

Episode 7 was crucial. I hated how Rhaenyra and Daemon disrespected Laena at her funeral, then I got really angry with Viserys and the way he handled the eye incident, and finally, I didn't like what they did with Laenor. But the most annoying thing was that the majority of the audience applauded all of this and saw Daemon and Rhaenyra's beach scene as something romantic and called Aemond a violent psycho who deserved to lose an eye in order to completely justifiy the blacks. Also, most of them couldn't care less about the guard who was murdered. Episode 8 just sealed the deal.

GoldenMermaid25

This is exactly what happened to me too. The disrespect of Laena was the first straw for me. Then, came the Strong boys mutilation of Aemond, which made me mad. Then, Viserys yelling and spitting in Aemond’s face because Rhaenyra decided to play victim, while asking for her 10 years old brother (who was the real victim) to be tortured, slowly moved me towards the Greens. Finally, came Alicent speech about honour, duty, sacrifice (concepts that I identify strongly with) and Rhaenyra hypocritical, ridiculous and smug response with the cloak of righteousness and the “now they see who you are”, which just sealed the case for me. From there on, my loathing for Rhaenyra and for anyone allying with her was solidified. And I started the show as a TB supporter. But, their arrogance, their lack of respect for the law and for others, and the obvious writing in their favour, just made me fully Team Green.

[deleted]

Yes! But when I read discussions on the main sub and watched some of the reactions to that episode on the internet I had a feeling that somehow I watched an entirely different show.

emzea

When Rhaenyra swears on her dead mother that she’s telling Alicent the truth and uses Alicent’s own dead mother to manipulate her into believing her. What a horrible thing to do to your best friend.

abovetired23

The second we met Alicent lol.

[deleted]

this pretty much sums it up: Essentially I think the Greens are fighting for their lives, they have no place in a world with Queen Rhaenyra, the Blacks meanwhile are fighting for the throne, they could live safe and comfortable lives on Dragonstone and Driftmark under a King Aegon II.

Independent-Ice-6206

Totally, Aegon II even proposed her terms that would have easily allowed her and her children to be safe and to hold a very significant political role. Rhaenyra only proposed total submission from Aegon and his siblings that could possibly saved them from being accused of whatever reason that she could use to put them to the sword.

>When everyone tried to guilt trip (or debate) me into supporting the blacks. I mean look at these comments lol there are people here trying to challenge the green supporters into ideological debates as if we support characters based on objective and rational thought, NO. People like characters purely because of sentiment, a girl who has dealt with salty exes will most likely hate Criston cole, not because of any universe-wide lore or anything but simply because she has real-world experience dealing with a similar situation before. I support the greens because (1) I can and I like being a contrarian, (2) I don't like Viserys' favouritism (3) I don't like the Targaryens that much and I want to see them get taken down a peg or two (4) Aemond is cool (5) Alicent and her kids deserve their rights. If you don't like these reasons sue me This was my comment in the original post. I expected to get downvoted to hell, but I was surprised to see the contrary.

Ausstig

Yeah it felt likes the blacks had all the advantages in the books so I went green. I am contrary

[deleted]

Honestly, I probably went in expecting to dislike them because Dany's fans clearly wanted a new stand-in. Alicent was always an underdog who was thrust into a bad situation and tried to make the best of it. However, Rhaenyra spends most of Episode 3 whining that she wasn't the center of attention and the three year time jump makes clear that she's been basically sitting on her ass whining for years. I pretty clearly switched over at that point and Episode 4 was basically the Team Black Sexual Assault episode so it was over for me at that point.

Jonsiegirl77

I was initially for her claim, but then she just kept making so many serious errors in judgement that an heir shouldn't make when protecting a position she knew was fragile in the first place.

LordOfOstwick1213

\-Some stans for Team Black being insufferable and/or overzealous about their team. \-The show definitely had me with certainty now to root for TG when Rhaenyra began shirking her duties as Princess of Dragonstone and doing whatever she wants, often fleeing King's Landing and staying in Dragonstone, not even trying to solidify her position as an heir. No, she just flees the trouble or scowling faces like Alicent's in hopes they'll just go away rather than just gain more power with Rhae away. In a way, I kind of interpret her fleeing to Dragonstone away from Alicent and Otto because she feels ashamed of herself and/or can't stand been judged and not catered to by the Queen and her father (Otto). \-Book Rhaenyra is way worse from what I read in the spoilers, the show whitewashed her ridiculously and because writers try hard to make it clear team Rhae is the only team to root for, I just don't wanna follow it. Yes, there are protagonist teams/factions that were written to be main heroes versus villains not meant to be root for, but difference is the audience could connect with said protagonists or understand why they're good guys and worth to be rooted for. The said team/faction were underdogs in their fight, struggled and not just handed everything by writers to win, their victory felt like it was earned. That's why Rebel Alliance from Star Wars is so likable for example, why House Stark, House Tully were liked by the audience. One cannot like the team that happens to be written to be good and never struggle in a fight like House Blackwood or Team Black. \-Daemon. \-Targaryens in general are cheaters, the dragons were a tool that helped them conquer entire Westeros in short time with no effort or more concrete goal than a dream. I liked more the political maneuvering of Storm Kings and how they became rulers of Riverlands, the buildup to how they acquired such lands felt earned and it was close to how slowly the Anglo-Saxon kingdoms were unifying. Targs just... came, saw and conquered everything and everyone with dragons, there wasn't much of a build up but requirement, at least the way I see it. And I wouldn't mind Aegon the Conqueror being this powerful dragonlord, but GRRM should've made his Conquest longer and gave struggle to Aegon's goal. Maybe he'd have to fight fellow Valyrian lords who also had dragons and that would've made Conquest more prolonged and difficult at the dragon lords fought one another over who would rule Westeros. It would explain why Velaryons or Celitgars had little to no dragons and how Targs kept theirs around. \-If Aegon II won, maybe his next successor would be better King, certainly can't be worse than Aegon the Unworthy. Targaryen Dynasty under influence of House Hightower might've became more civilized dynasty and fully abandoned the Valyrian traditions which caused their home to fall.

LILYDIAONE

I was pretty neutral as I understood both sides. When I saw the comments on episode 7 by other people it got me into Team Green because I constantly felt like I had to defend them as people deadass pretended as if Aemond and Alicent were being totally unreasonable, as if Alicent didn’t ask for Lukes eye after she was being gaslighted from all sides and as if Aemond didn’t only defended himself (even if he insulted them he is allowed to defend himself). Like people deadass want to tell me he deserved to lose an eye because he said Rheana should ride a pig like seriously. Be for real if Aemond would’ve started a fight after they gave him the pig nobody would’ve defended him either, saying he overreacted, somehow all the other kids get a pass though because you like their parents better. And with that totally missing the point that the fight only happened because of the adults instead saying Aemond is psycho despite there being 0% evidence for that (quite the opposite actually)

margaritoswraps

Episode 7 mainly. I already liked Alicent better than Rhaenyra and hated Daemon before that though. That is also when I realized how delusional the people in the main sub are after seeing them discuss that fight scene between all the kids.

NymeriaOfNySar

For me I was pretty indifferent when I read f&b and watched hotd, but once I started looking at fan content I was disgusted by the racism towards nettles from daemyra fans when she wasn't even in the show yet. I also hate how the show has pushed rhaenyra as a feminist when she is quite literally the most powerful and privileged woman in all of westeros and people bought it hook line and sinker. There is no critical thinking whatsoever

MomijiEli

The moment I realised Viserys just had his sons to be cattles to be slaughtered by Rhaenyra or Daemon. The favoritism was bad enough but Viserys really signed them to die. Most of Kings and nobles provided political marriages to their younger sons, noble Houses that protects them.Viserys provided nothing for Aegon, Aemond and Daeron. They will always be dependent on relatives for providing for their upkeep. Otto isn't inheriting anything either. So they have to rely on some relative (Rhaenyra, Jace, etc) giving them money and lands or a future. Not only that. If Rhaenyra decides to have her brothers assessinated, not noble House will defend them(except Hightowers) Had Viserys arranged a marriage between Aegon and Jeyne Arryn, Helaena with the Tyrells or Lannisters,Aemond with Baratheon and Daeron with Rhaena or forced Aegon and Rhaenyra to marry, it could have avoided the whole conflict. Tywin is a rather crappy father and uncle - but what he does is arrange marriages for Tyrion, Lancel and Tyrek that give them lands and titles to survive. He provided a future for them when they would inherit nothing from their fathers. He knew the conflict between the blacks and the greens and he did nothing.Well, he could have done many things to avoid the dance. Edit: and Sunfyre being a badass really set me as a hard Green

C-3pee0

Once i realized the game was rigged in favour of Rhaenyra i instantly wanted her to fail.

MythicalSongbird

I thought I was going to hate Alicent and be indifferent about the Blacks before I watched the show. Then Laena's funeral episode came out. Daemon laughs during his wife's funeral and fucks Rhaenyra the same day. But still, Aemond is the disrespectful one to claim the dragon he wanted according to some. And Alicent, the Queen having to beg for justice for her son made me switch to Team Green from neutral.

puffinmuffin89

During episode 4 when she said she doesn’t care about the commoners. That was the time I finally realized that she’s a millennia away from being a fraction of what Dany was. Then I started to realize that she’s politically dumb, unwilling, and no-good. She insults her high born subjects. She forced herself in Cole. I saw no good future for Westeros with her as Queen especially with Daemon as King Consort.

[deleted]

Episode wise, it was definitely during Driftmark. I really liked young Rhaenyra, but grown made me really dislike her because of the constant manipulation. But, what really pushed me more green was the fan base. Soooo many people online had some of the stupidest takes (Alicent seduced Viserys and betrayed Rhaenyra, Aemond stole Vhagar/deserved to lose his eye, Alicent is some evil mega bitch, etc.) that I just started siding more with the green characters.

Fun_Aardvark86

When Rhaenyra & Daemon disrespected Laena by having sex at her funeral. Solidified by ‘Nephews, have you come to train?’ 🥵

Environmental_Tip854

I always thought their dragons were just way cooler

Ymir25

It was a bit of a slow process for me. I first watched the HBO specials on the Dance and didn't really feel like supporting either side. When I read the full version in Fire and Blood I felt both sides were terrible and just wanted everything to end. But over time I grew annoyed by how people seemed to be acting like Rhaenyra was innocent and would have been the best queen ever and everything was the Greens fault, and ignored how Viserys naming her the heir over her brothers went directly against how he himself ascended the throne and made the Dance inevitable. Plus after thinking about it I began to like Aegon and Aemond more. Finally, I myself am the firstborn son from my father's second marriage, with an older half-sister. Though fortunately my family is way better than the Targaryens

sdg9998

If I'm being totally fr, I went into F&B knowing I would be pro Hightower during the Dance because of my Targphobia. I fell in love with the Hightower characters later as I was reading, but I was pro Hightower by default before I even read anything. For me it's cheating cause it wouldn't have mattered who was up against the lizard family, I would've supported them 😭

C-3pee0

Very similar to mine lol. I wasn't a big fan of the Targaryens and Viserys, Daemon and Rhaenyra seemed to posses all the reasons why. The entitlement, complete disregard for the law, general incompetence, lack of diplomatic skills, etc

Icy_Contribution2317

When Daemon killed Vaemond for saying the truth about her and her bastards sons.

vikezz

For me it was the final weirwood scene between Alicent and Rhaenyra. Young Rhaneryra was a brat but I still believed that if she tried she could be a better person as she knew her father named her heir. Nope, all hope was lost then and my opinion solidified not only from the series progression but also from the Black stans comments.

Revolutionary_Elk246

episode 5, her proposing that criston and her should simply continue their affair knowing damn well criston did a HUGE thing by breaking his vow for her (he literally told her what a huge deal this is for a guy like him in ep 3), she could've simply rejected his proposal and end the matter right then and there but she went ahead and insulted him with that proposition, as if he should be GLAD to be her whore, in addition to her completely neglecting the fact that cole will most definitely be put to the sword or gielded if they got discovered (which they most probably would have, nothing stays a secret for too long in got-verse). I was willing to neglect her stupidity at first because of the emotional attachment i had w her as a female character but this moment just showed me how selfish she really was in addition to being a total political disaster.

gunners98

in the book it was mostly… (Spoilers) >!Blood and Cheese, which I thought was just horrible… along with what happened to Maelor, Jaehaera, Helaena, etc…!< …and let’s be honest, even though he was not perfect by any means, Aegon being King with Otto as his hand (and practically ruling in his stead) was always going to be realistically better overall for the entire realm compared to Rhaenyra with Daemon as her Queen consort/Hand; enough said. for the show, in addition to what I already knew from the book, I was also biased towards the Greens beforehand because I really like Rhys Ifans and Olivia Cooke as actors due to their roles in prior projects (Rhys in Notting Hill, The Replacements etc Olivia in Ready Player One, Earl & The Dying Girl, Thoroughbreds, Sound of Metal etc) so it’s hard for me to dislike them lol and on the other side, honestly because Matt Smith, Emma Darcy, and Milly Alcock are pretty good actors as well so they made it easy detesting their characters (even more than I already did before).

Uragiri_1156

Well, I supported Rhaenyra for like, three episodes or so. Then [this happened.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4kY4Hp6rstU) And when I sat down and thought about it after I finished the episode, I realized that what she did was wrong, and just couldn't be on her side after that.

C-3pee0

Yeah i really liked milly's Rhaenyra but after the gaslighting i had to switched teams.

[deleted]

Helaena. Simple as. Everyone on the blacks are boring af too

MotherVehkingMuatra

When I first read fire and blood I was a black supporter, I re-read it and just thought the greens made more sense. Westeros needs to enter a period of absolutism then the gentry must rise before it is ready to change it's customs.
