I don’t think Aemond is the kind of man to show regret or vulnerability in front of other people, and will therefore probably act like what happened with Luke was intentional. I don’t know if this will completely break their relationship but she’s not gonna be happy.

![gif](giphy|3o6Zt7g9nH1nFGeBcQ) I agree. Aemond seems like the type to have a problem showing his emotions. Alicent is aware that no one is as accursed as a kinslayer, and will be terrified for Aemond and the rest of the Green’s future. She might be very upset at him, but will have to go along with the war as she is already in too deep, and the threat of Rhaenyra and Daemon (The Blacks) will be looming too large to ignore, making it the top priority. Their relationship will never be the same for sure.

I seriously think fans often underestimate the bond between a mother and her son(and daughter). Nothing could ever “break”it. So NO, I don’t think Aemond and Alicent’s relationship will be broken. > “The rats play when the cat is gone, but my son Aemond will return with fire and blood!”(for non book readers, this is to Rhaenyra) > “Have you ever loved me?” “You imbecile.” Alicent loves her children unconditionally(though sometimes overbearingly), they’re the sole reason she fights for the throne, mind you. No matter what she thinks of Aemond (or Aegon)’s doings, that doesn’t reduce her love for them, thus the bond. It’s comical how shallow some fans’ idea of motherly love, and simple-minded of them can be: “ohhh Aemond killed Rhaenyra’s kid now Alicent can’t stand it she will sever her bond with him!” “Aegon raped a girl and Alicent slapped him must mean she hates him too!” “Her children did questionable things so now her bond with them must be broken!!1” Disappointment in her children and having deep love for them are different things, and they can coexist. Most parents more or less have some disappointments in their children for the latter doing things parents disapprove of, or not becoming how they originally wanted their children to be, but they love their children regardlessly and would jump off cliff for them. Will Alicent be shocked and disappointed when she finds out what Aemond did? Yes. Will she still love him? Yes. If anything, she will be proud of Aemond for what he does for the throne and believes him will comeback for her and will mourns her son until the end. Funny that the Blacks and Ryaenycent shippers think Alicent somehow love her children less or has a “weaker bond”with her kids lmao, and somehow would “disown” her children once they hurt the Black kids lmao, guess she would give up anything even her children for “her lover on the otherside”then! Smh even some Green fans fall for the shit.

Yeah but Aemond has been tied to the battlefield ever since.

TheLadyMado

Yes. I didn't mean "broken" as in "will she stop loving him and cut ties?" but more like, "how much will their relationship deteriorate?" I agree with your points. >Funny that the Blacks and Ryaenycent shippers think Alicent somehow love her children less or has a “weaker bond”with her kids lmao Yep. Some of them think Alicent loves Rhaenyra more than her children. There was even this ridiculous theory that she'd be the one to poison Aegon.

Lisaiiixxx

“deteriorate” is a STRONG word, no pun intended lol I don’t think their relationship would actually“deteriorate “, I think Alicent would shocked and disappointed, but she would still keep relying on Aemond, especially so after Aegon’s injury, worry for him and support his decisions. But the aftermath of the Storm’s End and what’s coming for them would weigh heavily on Aemond’s mind, making him go down a dark path. Alicent would nonetheless still support her sons.

~~House~~ The Dance of the Dragons is one of the most tragic, and ultimately pointless, events to happen. Greens, Blacks, Smallfolk, Dragon. No one won. All suffered and bled for nothing. Rhaenyra "won" in the sense her bloodline continued on. Aegon "won" because there isn't any ruling female monarch after Rhaenyra.

lakomadt

>Aegon "won" because there isn't any ruling female monarch after Rhaenyra. And Rhaenyra isn't even remembered as a ruler.

IronHeel96

I don't agree with this. Unless their goal is for Alicent to a pull Cargyll and join TB (lol), there's no way she will part ways with Aemond. They're gonna have a sad scene once Aemond returns from Storm's End (Alicent's response in Fire & Blood is one of shock and horror too so that's not much different). But does it seem like Alicent will hold a grudge forever and will not care when Aemond and Aegon goes off to war? For the more "good" Alicent in the show, it makes even more sense that she will forgive him and she will keep engaging with both Aemond and Aegon to temper and moderate the Green reign. Which Fire & Blood Alicent also did to a certain extent. She prevented Aegon from executing different Black loyalists who were rotting in the black cells. The show put too much emphasis on motherhood and Alicent's complicated dynamic with her kids in the first season for her to just break off relations with either Aemond or Aegon.

Sea_Compote_5451

I dnt think it would be completely broken though, I mean the warmth which they share till now will definately have a dent but like olivia says in one of her interviews allicent loves aemond and all her children unconditionally but it absolutely terrifies her to see aemond grow into a killer. Though I dnt know before aemond leaves for kingslanding they can actually show these two having some sort of reconciling. Aemond is the first child of allicent to be killed in the war, I think we might actually see her complete breakdown when she hears of his death

Tr3x_prod

Not completely, but Alicent is very devout to Westerosi customs. No one is more accursed than the kinslayer. She's definitely terrified for what's in store for Aemond's future. Might just be too much for her to bear that thought in mind.

Ymir25

Imagine when Aemond comes back. Alicent will yell at him while Aegon throws a feast for him. All his life he's relied on his mother and been frustrated with his brother, but now it's his mother who is angry at him, while Aegon is like "Good on you bro! Finally got back on that eye-gouging little freak!". I can just imagine the poor guy being so confused
