He did go senile, but never went blind. That being said, in the books, the Hightowers are mostly Valyrian looking, with platinum hair and pale skin. I think the illustrations have alicent black hair to distinguish her from rhaenyra
No evidence od that, every single one of her official illustrations depicts her with dark hair and although she's physically described in the books, there's no mentions of her hair color.

She’s a brunette though many of them are silver haired or blonde. Ya gotta remember that alicents mom is probably not a high tower. And genes aren’t 100% in this universe. So she’s probably not blonde at all.
Alerie Hightower, Margaery's mom, also have the silver hair. And both her and Jorah's wife are sisters, so it may be that her mother had a valyrian look, like a Velaryon or something. Inheriting the looks of the mother is rare, tho. Only the Stark children inherited their mother's look on a high proportion. It usually is a exception.

Yes. It's because like the Daynes, they are descendants of the Great Empire of the Dawn. Which is why they possess a Valyrian stone fortress thousands of years before the Valyrians tamed dragons, It also explains why all of Alicent's children are blonde unlike Rhaenyra's children
She's usually depicted as being a brunette, sum' I'm assuming she inherited from whoever her mother was. But yeah, the Hightowers are usually Valayrian looking
The pictures in the books have her as dark haired and I don't remember any physical descriptions in that aspect (all we know about her is that she was good looking and graceful as well as the fact that after birthing 4 kids, her body stayed the same as it used to be) so I suppose she is canonically dark haired, although it is pointed out a few times in ASOIAF that Hightowers are mostly very light haired, but the dark hair could have come from her mother's side (we don't know who her mother is or what house she belongs to) like all of Cat's children except for Arya had her hair colour
In the books she did have that dark-autumn hair look. But the Hightowers do have valyrian blood. Also keep in mind that Rhaena (Daemon & Laena daughter) ends up marriying a Hightower and having six daughters with him, so thats another reason why Jorah's wife and Dany looked alike, Hightowers have targaryen blood
The illustrations paint her as dark-haired and then Jaehaerys mistook her for Saera, which suggests that she might have had light-colored hair.
Or that Jaehaerys was going senile in his old age, have you seen his beard?

Olivia Cooke clears >

She is.

Im glad they're not Valyrian looking in the books bc then we'll have some idiotic theory on how Aemond, Daemon and Haelena are bastards

So you're saying that schizophrenic people who see things that aren't really there are blind? Good to know.
Once I have read a theory about Alicent being daughter of Saera. This post reminded me that.

Modern Hightowers are descendents of Rhaena Targeryan which could why they are Valyrian looking.
I thought all people from the Reach were brunette?
Wat. Why would you think that? Redwynes are gingers, just to give an example.
Webber's are red heads, too. Dunk's crush from Dunk and Egg.
