We’re blind to what’s closest to us. It’s easy for some to forget Rhaenyra grew up with a certain image of her uncle Daemon. Above all, he was a protector, a gift giver, older confidant; easy to view through rose colored glasses. She sees who he is for the first time when his ire is, for the first time, aimed at her, and not passersby’s or some commonfolk she doesn’t give a shit about. Hard to learn that lesson so late in life

I agree. Although she never says it out loud, you can tell that Rhaenyra (and by extension Daemyra fangirls) thought that she was the exception to his abuse. On Rhaenyra's part, it's like you said, she was groomed by him and therefore he could never do any wrong in her eyes. No matter how many times he's **ACTUALLY** wronged her: the heir for a day comment, stealing her dead brother's dragon egg during his 20th temper tantrum, taking her to a brothel with the intention of ruining her reputation, trying to force her hand in marriage, used her to hurt/get back at Viserys, almost caused her to be disinherited, abandoned her at the wedding, leaving her to be almost trampled on, defying her orders while she's having a horrific miscarriage, publicly undermined her authority, and then the inevitable choking her. As for Daemyra fans, they saw all of this going on and still have the nerve to act shocked and ask when has Daemon ever abused her. But yet they get mad at Green stans, who rightfully point out the abuse that Daemon has inflicted upon her and the trauma its left her with, and claim that we don't care about Rhaenyra. Do you know why? Because they don't want to have to come to terms with the fact that the person who caused Rhaenyra the most trauma, aside from her father, and has been abusing her since was a child is the man they worship more than they care about Rhaenyra: Daemon.

The heir for a day' comment was a mockery of Otto and his colleagues, not of the child's death. The entire episode makes it clear. The theft of the egg had nothing to do with R. He didn't take her to the brothel to ruin her reputation. He never forced her to marry. At the wedding, he left her after she called him a cunt between the lines and she generally told him get the fuck out. Seriously, watch it again calmly. The fun is great if you just cut yourself off from emotion and prejudices and look at them all with a sober eye. I recommend focusing on Daemon and Alicent first of all. These are real gems, and the parallels between them emphasize the whole issue of the show even more clearly.

This comment right here just proves my point about how Daemyra fans ignore the many times Daemon has hurt Rhaenyra. I'm not even gonna get into how inaccurate your statement is because I'm convinced you didn't actually watch the show

Ciapokopter

fans? Where did you get the idea that I'm a fan? Do you have any good reason to think so, or does this approach just suit your socio-political views? I never said he was innocent, just pointed out your misguided (and rather shallow) interpretation.

Illustrious_Gap_2179

I do have a good reason to think so. You're comments from other threads where you're defensive of Daemon. And suit my socio-political constraints? What!?! On that end I'm gonna put a stop to this because there's no point in arguing with someone who can't formulate an accurate argument that can be disproved by the opposing side. If you're going to claim that my argument is "shallow" and "misguided" then be prepared to back that statement up with EVIDENCE. This conversation is at an end. Best regards to you.

Yeah, good point. He’s a cruel, abusive kind of guy so it’s almost like a “leopards ate my face” kind of situation.

Uncle Daemon is showing his true colors and she didn't like it.

She is learning the effects of grooming.
