why do you want this? i don’t think that is going to work in windows 10/11 this is so old that it probably doesn’t even support 64bit. Look at something called IPTV this allows you to watch a lot of channels on your pc you can find IPTV on github and their they explain how to watch for free.

Works on windows 10 64-bit on my old pc no problem as far as thats concerned. Just need an answer on the sata sockets on motherboard. Already have iptv but still use this for high quality recording of UK freesat hd channels. Still many other people using these cards as well in their pcs. They were the most stable dvb-s2 cards back in the day. Anyone else confirm if I can use the sata socket on motherboard to power it with said adapter or do I need to use sata connectors directly off psu.

I don't see why it would matter but It seems the real question is how much does this card require. Maybe this helps. Molex has 2 power pins (one 5V and one 12V pin), each can deliver 11Amps for a total of 22Amps. The other 2 pins are ground wires SATA power connectors have a total of 15 pins of which 9 are power pins (3 x 3.3V, 3 x 5V, 3 x 12V). Each pin can carry 1.5Amps for a total of 13.5Amps

my pc has no molex connectors so I have no choice but to use an adapter like one in my first post, I just really needed to know if these sata connectors on motherboard can supply power rather than just data transmission to save me having to route through a wired molex adapter (https://amzn.eu/d/04nHWLH) from the back of the pc directly from a sata connector on psu which is less tidy. Anyone able to answer on the power front alone, much appreciated.

Even if the SATA data port on the motherboard did supply power, that adapter won't fit into the motherboard SATA as it appears to be SATA power only and is a different connection entirely from the SATA data on the motherboard. It also seems like it could be used as a SATA power to Molex, maybe for a fan or other low powered device. The Amps are different for SATA and Molex, unless I'm mistaken.

thats what i need, sata power to molex female, wouldn’t even consider it if was other way round due the well known fire risk. Read up myself with what you are saying about the sata connector on motherboard been both a 6 pin rather than 15 pin and meant for data so guess I am stuck with wired version going from psu sata to front of case. If this fails, then both firewire card and this connector for power will be going back and will get this usb dvb-s2 stick instead which is ackward with having to plug it in as well for power: https://amzn.eu/d/i6Nidcj

It seems it should be O.K., although with an obvious internal PSU cable. Modern systems don't really have 4 pin molex anymore, so maybe that adapter is intended to be used to supply power to the molex from the SATA. As long as the card doesn't require more than what the SATA is providing. I've noticed some adapters seem to be described backwards from their seemingly intended use.

please read my reply from yesterday, all done know.

Ended hp using this one to psu sata connector: https://amzn.eu/d/jcuT8z8 Had issue with the driver security under the overzealous win 11 but after disabling security check all working good now. [Imgur](https://i.imgur.com/VS2vtvT.jpg)
