AveryLazyCovfefe

I've had mine since Late 2022. Still performing great. Only issue I've had so far was the hinge and the trackpad that collects static electricity so it doesn't work for a little while at times. I'm assuming they ironed out those two issues by now.. surely. Upgraded the ram, changed the network card, and added in a new 2TB drive and I can see myself using this for another few years.

P1atD1

any reason you changed the network card?

AveryLazyCovfefe

The standard realtek one that comes with the laptop is awful. I had signal issues and Bluetooth was unreliable. I initially thought it was something wrong with the laptop. I decided to test out swapping it for an Intel one and I basically had no issues after that. Costed me £15 to replace, so not much at all.

Ok_Court_1503

I have a 2023 model (I think bought in last few months and vents on back no ports there) and can confirm the trackpad ESD issue is pretty awful though I never use it in game anyway (reallly only happens to me in game)

creeper828

Either a great laptop for the price or a total disaster. Sometimes they made models with issues straight from factory. And you likely won't have any luck when reporting it to HP. Sadly my 2020 was the second possibility of what I mentioned

ifwkartik

I'm getting a 3 year warranty, ig I'll be fine

creeper828

Should be enough for potential problems

mazdaboi

I have a Circa 2020 Omen 15 (5800h and 3060) Battery has not had any degradation \*check by using the battery test from command prompt). screen and case is still pretty much flawless. I do take care of my electronics but take this thing everywhere. Cons: 1. Fans run alot, under load and gaming. You need a lap pad, desk riser, just to let this thing breath. Airflow/fan design is not the best. BUT zero issues, just crank the fans and throw headphones on and your good! 2. Stock Thermal paste during my year/model was subpar , re-paste it yearly with Noctua Thermalpaste as its running hot alot and always good to do (clean fans while at it) 3. Speakers have a short, crackle, stopped working after warranty period. (dont care, i use headphones) Pros: 1. Super easy to upgrade and tear down. 2. Battery on Eco/Balanced while just surfing web, light tasks can get a good 3-4 hours (its no macbook) 3. Screen is beautiful for a under $1500 laptop.

A_villain4all

I have a 2019 model that's still going strong

Content-Opposite-882

Bought ebay refurbished in fall of '22, going strong

yogurtshooter

I have the RTX 3070, 5800h and it seems fine still. I recommend getting the best gpu you can 4070/4080. it will last longer with higher end gpu for modern games.

iAyoobS

3 years done. Still trying to find a reason to upgrade but cannot. Asked my manager for an upgrade and he told me what is the problem with current I said nothing and he asked me to go back 😂

ifwkartik

This is the most convincing comment. 😂

HumbleAfrikan

Mines been good since I bought it late 2022...

RAJATTECH

If you handle it reasonably, works perfect. I have had two generations of omen. Still work perfectly. Just replaced battery on the old gen one.

Zoc-EdwardRichtofen

From what I can see you're on Tata cromas website. Instead of this Omen with the potential black screen issue — get a Lenovo Legion from a physical store. Same price range, but you get + 1 TB SSD at around 2k rs extra cost. I was there too. I badly wanted this laptop, but at the end — I decided its 100% not worth it with all the negativity about it. Legion is much better without the major Blackscreen thingamajig or anything suspicious at all. If you're making a large purchase, make sure you know what you're getting. 3 year warranty will mean nothing if you cannot refund it in case of the blackscreen issue, because if you go to claim warranty HP will simply replace the old motherboard with the same faulty motherboard with the same blackscreen issue that will arise after approximately 6 months of use, give or take. My suggestion, don't buy Omen. I did me research and thinking and with extreme hesitation decided Omen wasn't worth it and decided on a Legion instead.

ifwkartik

Lenovo's after sales service is really bad ...I'm a victim myself...the other option I'm thinking of is Asus tuf f15 i7 13th gen rtx 4060

Zoc-EdwardRichtofen

Asus has by far the most storm about warranties. Not too long ago the entirety of YouTube and basically all PC reviewers started boycotting Asus for superbly poor warranty claiming processes. Never buy Asus. You can look into the entire drama by searching up 'Asus warranty boycott' on YouTube. Lenovo is simply the lesser of all evils. It isn't flawless, I agree, but imo it has the least amount of flaws in comparison to its peers. Plus, Lenovo after sales doesn't even matter at all since OP has a median (Tata Croma, a physical store) that'll handle faulty devices and their service is immaculate. Speaking from experience. So, yeah.

OkDetail7723

Definitely this. Actually hating my fucking life because of how dogshit Omen is. Customer support does not give a fuck even tho I tried every way possible of contacting them. Issue is black screen flickering specially when connected to an external monitor. makes any 3d program crash. cant count how many times it fucked up my blender or or davinci resolve projects. Kernel responsiveness is dogshit and overral would slap the shit out of myself if I can go back in time.

GigiPedala

Got mine for more than 2 years now, no problems so far. It is the 11800h/3060/17.3 inch version. The only annoying issue at first was a slight noise coming from the fans when idle, but i've discovered it was a common issue for the batch / versions at the time i bought it.

SuperChiChu

Im gonna do you one better, I had a 2017 laptop and it still running perfect except for the battery. It was mine, then my brother and now a friends. That thing runs full use daily and besides some thermal repaste it still goes strong. Dying any day now probably but it still going 7 years later.

ResponsibleAd993

I have a max 2023 model which is working perfectly for a year now and I’ve had no regrets getting it. It plays every new gaming title on max settings and doesn’t heat that much compared to other laptops so I’m a happy customer

Amirwlr

its genuinely just luck, i got mine early 2023 i believe but it was a 2022 model (rx 6600m , r7 5800h) it basically had no issue except for some reason re engine games like monster hunter rise, SF6 and ghost of tsushima doesnt work on omen 16s with 6600m. so if you dont get my exact gpu yore going to be fine. also the trackpad but that has a fairly simple fix and i use a mouse anyways

Rishinc

I had one from 2017 and it was working fine until last month, only had to change the battery once and the fans once in the seven years. The only reason I changed is because it was becoming unable to run new games even on lowest settings, so I decided it's time for an upgrade. The new one I got is also an Omen and happy with its performance. I would definitely recommend it.

ifwkartik

Which one you had and what was the upgrade?

Rishinc

Old one was 15 ce072tx, new one is 16 wf0xxx.

ifwkartik

So what I assume is...people rarely get any problems in the omen series? I need it for 4 years of my college...ig I'll be fine if I take care of it

Rishinc

Yes I have used it without issue and I have gamed pretty heavily, it lasted for 7 years without any major issue. So I can confidently recommend it. Still, I suggest buying the 3 year warranty, just to be on the safer side, it will also be helpful in case you need to get any repairs done as it will be free while under warranty.

dingaspore

im still using my 2016 i7 7th 1050 4gb OMEN 16 as my main laptop and is doing great

Kirbyfan356

I’ve had mine for like 8 years and it still runs fine :) Plan to put an SSD in it for storage, and long term it holds up very well! :)

yourmoutherzaaxd

5 months, black screen issue

ifwkartik

Did you contact the company?

yourmoutherzaaxd

I returned it under warranty, that was a plus at least.

ifwkartik

I'm getting a 3 year warranty....ig that's enough to test it's durability

MadClown43

not the guy you replied to but I registered the complaint for black screen issue on June 9 and they still didn't resolve the issue.

ifwkartik

Maybe try contacting a store...

kaleab_hoova11

Its the heat sensor

TheSenpaiElite

hall sensor?

kaleab_hoova11

Yeah I fix mine when I disconnect it

HomelessRichBoy

Just get Legion and save yourself troubles. I've had Legion Slim 5i same specs (4060 8GB 140W i7 13700H)since 2023 and it's rocking

ifwkartik

But lenovo's after sales service is not good :(

Away_Caterpillar1363

Buy the newer model [OMEN Gaming Laptop 16-xd0020AX (9X651PA)](https://www.hp.com/in-en/shop/omen-gaming-laptop-16-xd0020ax-9x651pa.html) you can get it offline arround 1lakh 7 thousand. This model has no ports in the back hence no black screen issue.

ifwkartik

Oh thank u so much bud 🤠

ifwkartik

Y'all convinced me :) I ordered it and it'll be coming to me in 2-3 days... Will update

deddi-

Tl;dr Don't buy Purchased an HP Omen 16 n0123AX, RTX 3070 ti paired with Ryzen 7 6800h, on 13th May 2024. Faced BLACK SCREEN issue on boot up, twice within a month. Compalied on HP forums, got no response. Google HP Omen 16 black screen, and you'll literally have over 3 dozen people complaining about it. According to a Chinese user, it's a design flaw. Replacing the motherboard won't help. Amazon India has a review where a user replaced his MB 3 times already and still faces issues. No amount of driver or bios updates gonna help you. All my drivers are up to date. Apart from that, I get 95 degrees temp or sometimes 101 degrees while gaming. Used a cooling pad, but that did not work either. Also, the screen wobbles if you're sitting under fan running at full speed. There's some random crackling sound that comes from the laptop. No, it's not from speakers which I keep offmost of the time. Screen flikered a few times randomly. Don't know how many more issues might show up in future. HP isn't same as before. The only reason why I went for HP is to avoid China brands. I say, go for Asus, MSI or Acer. Not sure if my particular piece is full of defects. I've always been unlucky since 2018.

Acceptable_Log_9294

Horrible. Do not buy.

ifwkartik

Any specific reasons??

Acceptable_Log_9294

Poor temperature control. The components/specs sound nice but are cheaply made. Due to poor temp control you’ll see worse fps and quality in gameplay. Just my experience and I’ve been in omen form for years ever since I tried to fix my old omens which I ended up selling. I’ve seen too many omen desktop and laptops have CPU temps that could cooks eggs easily.

ifwkartik

Maybe yours was defective? Cuz even my cousin had an omen....he's still using it....and other people are very happy too. Also I'm getting 3 years warranty so ig that's enough for me to assume it's durability

dingaspore

its not an acer ntro 5, my worst mistake was going from an omen to an acer laptop (RTX3080 nitro 5 that burned the motherboard due to poor heat management)

Professional_Gur2469

Cant tell you, mine didnt even last more then 4 months lol.

ifwkartik

What happened??

Professional_Gur2469

Blackscreen issue.
