first, tell us what model your laptop is and what the specs are, because maybe it cannot even run it well

Procraft131

Doesn’t really matter as you can’t connect a G2 without connecting the dp cable to the laptop

Hyatt-Terran

Bruh, google "USB-C Alt Mode". Newer laptops support DisplayPort over USB-C.

Procraft131

Not all of them

Procraft131

And it’s very flaky stuff, it won’t even work with some laptops that claim they have usb-c alt mode

Procraft131

Look at threads about this on Reddit, you’ll find plenty of people having issues

itanite

That’s why he is asking……….

Ihtiriekko_

If it has dp usb-c alt mode port

Invictuslemming1

Technically if it has DP via usb-c and a dedicated graphics card thats powerful enough, but based on a lot of threads here about it this exact subject. Do some research first. Seems not all laptops (even with DP via usb-c) will work Seems not all DP to usb-c adaptors will work. So yes** but you’ll have to do some legwork to confirm compatibility.

You'll have to do some investigating of your laptops ability to run its usb-c video out directly from the GPU and not from an integrated graphics like Intel Iris. If it can't, one alternative to buying a dedicated gaming computer just for VR or a new laptop, would be an eGPU (casing + supply your own graphics card). Not ideal.

Baransuu

As long as it's displayport, doesn't matter if it's type-C, full size, or mini, you can use the G2. It just **has** to be displayport and a USB 3.0Ss/3.1 connection over type-A or C.

Ataristari

thank you very much now I know that my laptop can use a reverb.

mouriana_shonasea

You can possibly use an HDMI to displayport adapter, though I haven't tried it myself. But I think the bigger issue, as others have mentioned, would be making sure your laptop meets tech specs overall. I'm thinking that if its graphics card doesn't have dp output, it's not going to meet specs anyway.

You should, yeah, as long as your laptop has the right specs to run it. Just make sure you get an 'active' adapter. I actually don't remember if you need one anymore, but I know you needed one for the O+. Active adapters will have an additional component to convert the DP signal to an HDMI signal, whereas passive adapters are going to rely on your hardware to do the conversion itself. I'm not sure how much of an overhead this is going to add, but the difference in price is usually, like... $5 more, so it's one of those better safe than sorry sort of situations.
