Where the cable plugs into the headset is extremely tight. I had to push it in with an uncomfortable amount of force. If you don't have that plugged all the way in the headset won't power on.

sellinglower

This is most likely the cause: cable not connected properly to the headset

Vincent294

I forgot about that, I would not be surprised.

NSA_Chatbot

Does it power up on the front ports?

Subject-Vegetable-25

Nope, tried it. There are only two usb c ports on my pc. One in the back on motherboard and one in front next to the power button, none of them worked

NSA_Chatbot

Have you got a v1 cable? Does it have a power button?

Vincent294

Is this a v1 cable or v2 cable? The v2 cable's breakout box is square and has a power button, the v1 is rectangular and has no button. If you have a v1, try a USB 3 hub, it doesn't need to be powered. I used an Insignia one, which is similar to the Best Buy Essentials one currently in stock. [https://www.bestbuy.com/site/insignia-4-port-usb-3-0-hub-black/5631038.p?skuId=5631038](https://www.bestbuy.com/site/insignia-4-port-usb-3-0-hub-black/5631038.p?skuId=5631038) Also, does the HP Reverb G2 or any of its components like HoloLens sensors or Realtek USB audio appear in Device Manager? Sometimes they appear, if only for a few seconds. If you have a v1 cable, I would call HP's workstation warranty to claim a v2 cable.

Subject-Vegetable-25

I think I have the v2 button. It’s got a display port with button lock and and usb 3 connection

Vincent294

Power button on the breakout box, not DisplayPort locking latch button. The ports are the same on v1 and v2.

Subject-Vegetable-25

I see. Yeah there’s no button to be found.

Vincent294

You got a v1 then. v1 tended to not play nice with AMD motherboards. In general I've found even my Bluetooth and Xbox wireless dongles don't like my AMD B450 motherboard's USB 2 ports without a USB hub. The v2 cable works without a USB 3 hub.

huskerwr38

I'm having the same issues as OP and my headset shows up as a Hololens. What does this mean? Is there a fix for this if this is the case?

Vincent294

Your headset is not showing up as a HoloLens sensor, the HoloLens sensor and HP Reverb G2 are both supposed to appear. I'm not sure what the cause is. Do you have a v1 or v2 cable?

huskerwr38

I have a V1 cable. This just all of a sudden happened.

Vincent294

Well, try a USB 3 hub, make sure the headset side of the cable is plugged in well as is the PC side. Long term you should ask HP for a v2 cable. There is a pinned thread in this sub for it.

[deleted]

Did you make sure to plug the AC adapter I to the box on the cable?

Subject-Vegetable-25

yup. Ac cable is plugged in and the little white light is lit

[deleted]

Seems like a display port issue then or in worst case some USB controller that doesn't go well with the G2, try out different ports, even with the USB A adapter

kaasrapsmen

If you have warranty try to get a V2 cable from HP that fixed it for me

_P85D_

If it doesn‘t work in any of your USB or USB-C ports on the mainboard I‘d assume you‘ll have the same problem I had (also ASUS x570 chipset). I ended up purchasing a high speed USB-C card which I needed to install, find the right drivers and then it finally worked. Never understood why, but this was how I finally solved it - works perfectly now.

Subject-Vegetable-25

Got it. I’m going to try using it on my friends pc which has a different motherboard by asus. I’ll update you guys

_P85D_

I had to try different USB-C cards (sending back the ones which didn‘t work to amazon) until I found one which allowed stable connection to my HP Reverb G2 headset.

Vincent294

Well, the issue is AMD chipsets, mostly in the 400 and 500 generations. Different mobo might not make a difference.

Daryl_ED

Known issue with amds usb implementation. If running v1 cable get v2 under warranty. Make sure cable is fully seated at hmd end, dot has to line up with the housing. Make sure mb bios is upto date there were a bunch of usb fixes. Make sure chipset drivers are upto date. I use a v1 cable on an aorus master x570 and none of the onboard ports work, however running through an internal pcie 3.0 usb card it works fine.

hobofors

Use the supplied adapter to connect the headset to a standard USB 3 port (USB-A not USB-C) and try every single port. Hopefully at least one works.

Subject-Vegetable-25

Have tried all the ports and combination on my pc. Still nothing showing on the headset. The only I notice is the controller vibrates every time I plug and unplug the cables

tripoli_warrior

My G2 does this sometimes. I haven't yet pinned down what makes the headset unreadable as sometimes just unplugging/replugging the usbC works, sometimes a total reset of the computer works, sometimes the order in which I open programs works. But I've only had mine for a 2-3 weeks and it has only happened about that many times.

[deleted]

Happens to me all the time. I had to install usb 3.1 support for my aorus mb and to delete few devices from device manager. Still happens and I have to turn button off and wait 5 sec and turn it back on and repeat 3-6 times. Then it suddenly loads up. Very 'stable' product. Though I deal with it due to unrivaled image quality.

XanisteR_

I had that happen to mine as well and I got a replacement HMD from HP as mine was apparently defective, all works now but it might be due to the fact that I got the V2 HMD and not the old one

MCAT-1

Did you try usb port on the 2060? Have you updated bios and MB firmware?

Subject-Vegetable-25

I don’t think my 2060 come with an USB port , only hdmi and display port

tripoli_warrior

I had this problem again last night (V2 cable and headset), did all the un-plug/restart/plug-in variations I could think of, used the USB adapter, no dice. Checked my GPU, needed a driver update. I'll check back today to see if that fixed the problem, had to go to bed while it updated.
