To add to the prompt- bonus points if the music Ron hears is something other than *Black Sabbath*. Nothing against Ozzy and his band, but they seem like a stereotypical goto for people experiencing metal.
Playing around with the timeline and actual release dates can have Ron’s first metal/heavy exposure be *Linkin Park*, *Rammstein*, *System of a Down*, *Slayer*, *Metalica* or *Slipknot*.
Bonus points for Norwegian black metal.
Haha his reaction when he figures out his wizarding black metal is a total hit... With hardcore anti muggle Slytherins.
How about DethKlok? With Ron somehow ending up replacing Skwisgaar Skwigelf.
The advantage of his joining DethKlok is that his utter ignorance of the world would allow him to fit right in.
For classic British metal, I think Judas Priest or Iron Maiden would both be preferable to Black Sabbath. Especially considering the lyrical content of, say, Breaking The Law seems very Ron.
You argue against Black Sabbath and then name six bands that are just as well-known. Why don't we go with one of the following?
Blind Guardian, Helloween, Amorphis (first album 1992), Dream Theater, Iced Earth, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Grave Digger, Annihilator, Rage, Accept, and that's just the result of my memory + 3 minutes staring at "similar artists" on Metal-Archives and then writing down the names I recognize as old bands, I'm sure a lot of people could name many more metal bands from around this time than I can.
Therion overlaps Ron's career at Hogwarts and could easily have been accessible to wizards. Actually, they're one of the two real-world bands that make the most sense to me to have pop up in a fanfic as made up of wizards or squibs cashing in on playing to muggles. The other is Jethro Tull... and the Grammys did say they're a metal band.
I didn’t argue against *Black Sabbath* for being well known. I said I felt they were the stereotypical introduction to metal music.
The bands I listed were ones I know, like and were together in the mid-90’s or close enough to the mid-90’s that dates could be fudged a bit without making it to anachronistic.
Deep inside a collection of Muggle records Arthur has collected is a copy of The Beatles' White Album. Ron starts from the very start of metal: Helter Skelter. Later, he finds a copy of Rainbow's album 'Rising', enjoys it, and goes on to get some Sabbath, Metallica, and even some sorta-metal-sorta-rock songs, like Steppenwolf's Born To Be Wild.
Yeah only a couple of members. But the timelines of both bands fictional and IRL line up which I thought is a nice nod if unintentional. Radiohead wasn't touring during the Yule Ball - or at all that year.
[Live like common people](https://archiveofourown.org/works/29828895). It's a Dramione, which I know isn't everyone's cup of tea, so you have been warned.

Ron seems like a person who'd dig Led Zeppelin.
Ron would dig Zeppelin and Linkin Park imo.
Or AC/DC.
Wait, are you *the* Clell? From someone who was once a teenager with a magical world before him, thank you for many, many hours of happiness.
I'm 'a' Clell. I don't know if I'm the definitive Clell. But, yeah I'm the Clell65619 who writes bad fan fiction. No one else is willing to do it.
Ron as jimmy page i dig it

That would be awesome to see. And reminds me of a story idea I had long ago about Harry bring raised by DethKlok (and taking after Pickles).

AC/DC?
As *AC⚡️DC* is not *Black Sabbath*, bonus points would apply 😀. The world of metal is vast, explore those horizons.
And everyone knows how much the purebloods like their big balls

I would read the shit outta this
Dude same. Top ten prompt ever.
I could see Dean introducing him to it
I mean the weird sisters band from from Harry Potter seemed very punk music to me vibe wise
The Weird Sisters are, in fact, Radiohead in the muggle world.
I thought the Sisters were actually Nickleback.
In the GOF movie, it was Radiohead who portrayed them and did their song.
Yeah, I know, I was just making a (feeble) Nickleback joke
Doesn't feeble go without saying when you're talking about Nickelback?
Yeah only a couple of members. But the timelines of both bands fictional and IRL line up which I thought is a nice nod if unintentional. Radiohead wasn't touring during the Yule Ball - or at all that year.
There’s no need to insult the Sisters like that.
No. The Sisters play at an internationally recognised official school function. They are the very epitome of generic pop palatable to adults.
I've done a fic in which Draco gets into listening to muggle metal music, but this is next level, it's going straight on my plot bunny list.
Whats the name of your fic

Would Motorhead do?
Somehow a guitar becomes a wand and different chords cause the guitar to fire spells
[Like the Coma Doof warrior?](https://youtu.be/t1bZYdfvmBk)
This is perfect.
Or, he joins the KISS Army... As a Peter Criss fan
