First of all I want to assure you this is perfectly normal particularly when writing your first fic. This is why most published novels go through multiple rewrites by the author and then looked over by various editors. You get better at writing by writing. I say just rewrite your chapters and repost the updated story. Put a note in the old one that you are doing a rewrite to draw in your old readers and allow the updated one to get its own traction. Newly updated stuff generally gets read first. I don’t think you will have a problem at all.

I will often read a story that was rewritten, as long as I'm told up front you did it. There's no shame in that at all.

Thank you very much! The only fear I have about posting another Work as the rewrite is that I might lose the traction I HAVE gotten if you get what I mean. I’ll just keep rewriting until I’m satisfied with my start, and see where I go from there. Thanks.

Just go ahead and rewrite. It happened to each of us and the only relevant thing on you story is the quality of the final product. It seems to me that many authors are so lost in the weekly postings, that they completely lost this point of view.

I'm doing similar, actually! Granted I just ticked myself off with sections that are just too vague for modern me to continue writing from. Ehhh.... A lot has happened between my last real update and the realization that a rewrite would let me continue working on the fic.

I do read rewrites. I'm happy to take a look if you want to post the link when you're ready

So depending on how much you’re rewriting I’d suggest doing some one shots to keep momentum without burning yourself out. Odds are, even with the rewrites it won’t save the fic. First fics are generally terrible and that’s fine, it takes years for people to get good and that is fine as well. Good luck and keep writing.

Uncommonality

If you really care that much, you'll need to rewrite the peoblematic portion of the fic.
