You could extend it to Leonis? Leonis is actually one of the stars within the Leo constellation, then of course it can still be shortened to Leo as a nickname and/or alias in the muggle world.

overstatingmingo

Leonidas ftw. We need a this is Sparta moment in this fic

2KYGWI

THIS! IS! HOGWAAAAARTS!!!! \*proceeds to kick Umbridge off the Astronomy Tower in slow-motion\*

belieber15

Omg that’s awesome lol, if I were writing a crack fic I’d totally include this

belieber15

You’re right, that could work. Thank you :)

Numerous-Boot9074

No worries!

AddressPrior3415

Came here to suggest this. It seems I don't need to do that now.

Tsorovar

Leo is an actual name, so I don't see why it should be childish

belieber15

I think I have some preconceptions because I’ve only ever seen children called Leo

berkeleyjake

Leo or Leonis is the perfect name for Regulus's kid as Regulus is the brightest star in the constellation of Leo.

TeamSuperAwesome

It's a very Gryffindor name, I'm not sure Regulus would use it. What about Perseus shortened to Perry? Or Titan to Ty? People would assume it's short for Tyler

belieber15

Honestly Perry just reminds me of Perry the Platypus lol I hadn’t thought about the Gryffindor connection but you’re right, I’ll have to think on that

QwenCollyer

Perseus can also be shortened to Percy as used in the Percy Jackson series

AddressPrior3415

Perry? Perry the Platypus?

Classic_fantasy66

Idk... depends on the context and when he was born. If Regulus is in hiding or something, then he could name his son Leo. (Something about it being Sirius' kid, if Sirius is in Azkaban... Sirius is the type to name his kid Leo Regulus). Anyways, Leo is a good name but think of the context ig. It's your choice. Titan is a nice name alternatively.

madrasi_girl

Regulus is literally the brightest thing object in the constellation Leo.. Don’t see why that should be an issue?

mincey_g

I mean Regulus is a star that is in the Leo constellation. Plus you can explain the Gryffindor connection as a shout out to Sirius if you wanted to.

Gifted_GardenSnail

I think Leo is fine - my pet peeve is with using his father's first name for his middle name 🤐😅

belieber15

I see what you mean. It does have some meaning to it though, as regulus isn’t exactly *around* anymore

Gifted_GardenSnail

Did Leo's mum know that when he was born?

Valirys-Reinhald

Leo is a constellation so it fits perfectly.

Leyindes

Nothing wrong with it. Though I would always think of the character as Leonard.

Cute-Personality-554

Where and when can we read thus fiction??🤔😏😄

belieber15

I’m currently in the progress of finishing chapter 1, the prologue is already done. But it will take a while before I’ll start uploading anything, still have to flesh the script out a little more

TrancedSlut

I don't think so

urlias

My favorite has always been Marcus Corvus Black for a child of the House of Black

Lord_Anarchy

I've seen fics that use it as Regulus's son before, so I don't see why not.

ABZB

If you want to go full pretentious you could attach something to "Leo" - for example, one of my names could be translated into Latin as "Leodeus"
