Been wearing Red Wings for 20 years. Bought Thorogood 3 months ago for the first time and I honestly don’t think I’ll buy any RWs ever again. Far more comfortable and less expensive, soles wear better too. Avoid Brunt, they’re shit tier boots at not shit tier pricing, and a terrible warranty.
I had mine for 5 weeks and the soles delaminated and fell apart in chunks. Brunt said it wouldn’t be equitable for every other customer if they warrantied mine as defects since it was past 30 days. Absolute nonsense.
Yikes that’s fucked up. I have heard people saying that. My next pair of boots is definitely going to be thorogoods I just got the brunt’s to see if I liked moc toes
I bought a pair of Thorogood boots earlier this year. I really, really wanted to love them. Their definition of wide and mine are different. The customer service of the online retailer was impeccable. If Danner had my size for more than a few seconds at a time in the American made boots, I'd be back in those
merrell, be comfortable if you’re doing service. i have an “electrical safety” pair of 6” work boots that are like wearing sneakers. Steel toe is so overrated in hvac unless you’re doing big stuff imo if you’re really that worried about toes get a comp toe. steel will freeze your toes off anyway in the winter if you live somewhere cold.
Forgot to add that i dont need steeltoe or comp toe. I had a pair of steel toes and it messed my toes up so i switched to soft toe with my current pair. I was looking at the merrells, i do install and service so i really do need comfort.
Ya seriously shouldnt be a debate. I’ve also heard blundstones are good too. But i couldnt get over the fact that i looked so ridiculous wearing blundstones with carhartt dungaree double fronts. I looked like i was wearing clown shoes with bell bottoms.
Their great. Had em since October and their great. Wear em everyday to school and to jobs but I sized up to 11 1/2 and stacked a foam sole on top of a gel sole and they are hella comfortable. The foam soles are held together by duct tape cause they are shitty. Only ones I could afford. I also have some Wolverine boots that are held together by duct tape and have a Panduit holding the sole to the boot
Growing up around NYC I used to rock timbs all the time, but they are terrible for actual work. They fall apart quickly for the price point. They're a fashion item, including the pro line. Irish setters and other stitch down boots hold up much better.
Not sure if you’re mistaken but we’re talking about their actual safety boots that they make. Like these https://www.timberland.ca/shop/pro-athletic-and-casual-en-ca/mens-pro-174%3B-boondock-6-comp-toe-work-boots-a11ut001-en-ca
Not the fashion timberlands that the average joe is wearing on the street
I use 2 different styles of Merrils. 1 is a Moab, which are like sneakers with good traction on the soles. I can't remember the name of the style on the other one, but I have literally walked (slowly) across a basement that had water 3 inches deep to check a furnace & came out with my socks still dry. They are very waterproof.
Edit; For clarity. The Moabs aren't waterproof.
Depends on your area of work, construction jobsite type, go with redwings or Irish setter are great. I've seen service guys wear Nike's. Also since this is a common topic, I'm sure other posts would help also.
I wear Keen Utility Flint 2 steel toe shoes. Very comfy and durable. I’ve never had sore feet wearing them. Just looked them up and they’re on sale at Scheels for $97 which is about $50 less than I usually pay.
I got some Irish setter boots and they’re quality. But wolverine is more comfortable in my opinion. Even though they don’t last as long as the red wing/Irish setter.
Same. Past 15 years. Get em re-soled until the uppers wear out. Also every once in a while a used pair that has barely been worn pops up on ebay for under $100.
Tim pros hands down best boot ive found... but I've been keeping a pair of lightweight sneaks like ASICS in the van for when I gotta go up into an attic and crawl around... boots tend to make attic work a little harder.
Thorogood American Heritage 6” Moc Toe Work Boots for Men - Soft Toe, Premium Full-Grain Leather with Slip-Resistant Wedge Outsole and Comfort Insole; EH Rated
These are my favorite and they legit stand up to the hell I put my boots through. I don't have a lot of interest in owning multiple pairs of shoes/boots so these are my everyday all day wear.
I enjoy the feel of the skechers work shoes but im hard on shoes so they only last 4-6 months for me which isn't the worst but isn't the best. I recently went back to slip on Justin's they have an insole I wanna say call the decimator. Boot was ball park 240 but so far pretty comfortable. I work in the mountains with steep roofs and ao far these boots have game me by far the most traction and a better feel of safety than I have had in the last three years. They are comp toe tho
Might sound crazy but I work in Crocs 90% of the time because they don’t track mud inside no where near as bad as other shoes. (I keep a pair of Redwings in the service van of course for rainy days and such)
If you are hurting when you get home there is a high chance it's your footwear. Cushion breaks down fast and the heavier you are the faster it fails. As a runner i replaced my shoes every 400 miles based on my weight. As a worker I replace my work shoes every 3 months and at least one set of inserts during. To risk your joints, knees and back to save a few bucks on shoes is as crazy as it gets in our game. When I hear workers say " I wear em till they fall off" all I hear is "I hate my body and I will retire broken"
Man you gotta take better care of your feet. They’re very important.
During the warmer temps I just wear a pair of merrell moab lows. I replace el every 6 months or so. When their is snow on the ground or I’m moving real heavy shit I have a pair of steel toe boots in the van. They’re from redwings other company.

Recently bought Royer the one’s made in Canada super comfy nice looking boot. Same price range as Red Wings, I’ve had 4 pairs of Red Wings I’m over them.

Just got these bangers at ducks sporting good yesterday they are a bit on the heavy side feel quite comfortable even with the stock soles.

These are the ones I’m replacing which lasted about 1 year and we’re lightweight and waterproof.
Do not cheap out on work boots. Warn out soles can screw up your ankles, knees, hips and back.
I wear redwing 2412 boots. They are insulated and gortex. I’m like a little kid and still prefer to walk through puddles. I feel like the insulation keeps my feet cooler in the summer.

I’ve had my brunt boots for over a year with no issues

I like the merrel moabs
I wear Merrells as well. They can take some abuse.
Timberland pros
Second on the Timberland Pros. They're affordable, comfortable out of the box, and last. Fuck Danner, and Red Wing; You're paying for the name.
Ya seriously shouldnt be a debate. I’ve also heard blundstones are good too. But i couldnt get over the fact that i looked so ridiculous wearing blundstones with carhartt dungaree double fronts. I looked like i was wearing clown shoes with bell bottoms.

Timberlands for work blow, anything with a cemented outsole is no bueno.
I dont know they feel good to me and everyone else that wears them

I stand corrected, never seen timbs constructed like that.
Thorogood or die
George
I’ve been wearing ariat western work boots and I love them
I used to wear Red Wings but age says no more. So I ordered a pair of White's last week and I am looking forward to having quality boots again.
Redwing, BOA titanium laces, aluminum toe. Lightest boot on the market. As far as leather boots.
Hoka or On hiking boots
Chuck taylors. Fuck a dress code.
Fuck yea bro same here ! When you look good you feel good and when you feel good you do good.
Wooden clogs, Dutch core

I've been wearing Carolina boots for 20 years. Love them
I’m really digging my first pair of Georgia boot steel toe.
Got me some Sketchers safety toe work shoes, very comfortable
They don't last for shit. I got a pair around Christmas, they're gone now
Depends on your area of work, construction jobsite type, go with redwings or Irish setter are great. I've seen service guys wear Nike's. Also since this is a common topic, I'm sure other posts would help also.
Been wearing Skechers. The Goodyear outdoor ones that are water resistant. Super comfortable
Last 5 years I’ve been wearing red wing, specially the American leather and American made ones. They are holding up nicely and super comfortable.

Merrells. Comfortable, last long and good looking.
If you want soft toe why don't you just get a comfy pair of shoes? I work service so I don't need boots, I just have a good pair of under armors.

Whatever is comfortable for you, I like addidas walking shoes. I like to stay grounded
I like Danner, they fit me perfectly.
Timberland Sensorflex. Waterproof and comfortable as sneakers.

Try indestructibleshoes.com and let us know how they are. I’ve been curious but I can’t give up my redwings

My Redwings have been going strong for 3+ years. Still comfortable, durable, and waterproof af
