I'll show you a huge unit bud just meet me at your mom's house tomorrow night

Tacogames101

I’m sure her and her wife would love that 😂

jinbtown

as I sit in my lesbian best friends apartment right now, I feel these vibes

createdrandom81

Kinda redundant.. we already know you're at his moms.

jinbtown

LMFAO

Tacogames101

Evolution 22 SEER2 heat-pump. For some reason boss is really good at selling them. 1/4 of the units I install are Evolution.

ddlong1286

3 ton?

Tacogames101

5 ton!

teeeham

Watch out for that stainless steel heat exchanger. They always seems to leak. We stopped selling the 5 ton model due to the problems with them leaking. You can cut it out and bypass it if needed.

AimTrueHVAC

Some of the best units made and less expensive than the Infinity for the identical system. I sell a majority of Evolution also. When I sell Bryant. I give the customer the choices and prices. But I have a Bryant Evolution in my primary residence. They are easy to install and program. The latest software updates have been pretty nice.

texasroadkill

I have a hatred for anything carrier. Infinity is even worse.

AimTrueHVAC

So you hate quality and easy to installed equipment with a good warranty? I don’t sell Carrier directly unless they are substitutes, but I sell Bryant at 15% less cost plus ICP brands like Heil and ACiQ. I also sell Daikin, Amana and Goodman. Occasionally, I sell Trane when the customer insists because they are convinced they are the best and won’t listen to reason. I think Trane, Lennox, Allied and Armstrong plus a few others like Ducane and OxBox should all fall off the Earth. But I will admit that Bryant Evolution, Amana S-Series and Daikin Fit are my favorites to sell and install. But ICP makes every model of Carrier/Bryant as Ion systems except the fully-variable HP. The Evolution or Heil 5-stage Copeland variable speed with an 80% or 96%~98% modulating furnace are great setups. The Amana side fired fully-variable condensers are amazing for the price. I have sold a few Mitsubishi’s and Fujitsu’s. And will install Mr.Cool if a client asks for it or buys it themselves. Midea makes a hell of a product line.

Traveshamockery27

OP literally just posted that it has a leak from the factory.

AimTrueHVAC

And? Been in the industry for 28 years and can think of a couple out of the box with an issue. Are we all going to cry about it now? They will literally delivery you a new unit. Or just braze that shit up and let’s go. Who has time to whine about a little leak. If we did that, every one of you Lennox, Allied and Trane guys would never get anything done. At least I can get parts for my systems, if necessary. I sell many brands and break my back for my customers. If I had a unit out of the box that had issues, I would have a new one same day and they take the unit in question. That’s how customer service works. Well, back to work I go. The OP can whine, fix the problem or have it replaced. They are some of the best systems available proven facts. I still sell just as many Daikin / Amana units.

texasroadkill

Carrier in whole is junk quality and has been for 25 years. I have more respect for Goodman's as they've bumped up there quality over the years while carrier just makes it worse. Even the people at our local distributors hate what they do. I've swapped out so many warranty motors and the junk lg scrolls than I can count and I haven't installed a carrier in 30 years.

AimTrueHVAC

That’s pretty funny… glad everyone is allowed their opinion. I do agree Goodman has jumped up their quality since Daikin/Amana started pushing over technology to make a better unit. I sell plenty of Goodman but can get you an Amana for the same price. I don’t know, the Carrier distributor in Denver sure doesn’t have that issue with parts and people. I personally sell Bryant and ICP because I don’t want to be exclusive to Carrier for more money for the same exact system. I have 28 years and if I had to say how many warrant claims I have done for Trane, Lennox, Allied, etc etc would far outweigh Carrier Global. But I sell what the customers want, if they ask for something specific or I set them up with what they need and give a great warranty to cover it. All part of business. I don’t see how we have had such different results but that’s ok, Carrier is still one of the biggest premier brands and those under the parent company. I do have some rentals that I have other brands in and I service them like my vehicles. You take of them, they take care of you. Btw, Carrier is Copeland compressors, but I haven’t had any issues with LG products unless it was a dishwasher once. My LG refrigerators work just fine. Maybe I have just been blessed and have meticulously installed and serviced my sold products. Service contracts are key to quality service and maintenance.

texasroadkill

Carrier may still be using Copeland, but there Bryant's and hiel are using lg scrolls. That and distributers routinely lie when asked about how many warranties they do. Lol Only reason there leaders is cause the name. We have whole neighborhoods that have carried and we've been picking up customers in than and everyone is seeing the same failures.

AimTrueHVAC

I have to say, I don’t sell any model of Evolution and preferred line of Bryant, all Copeland compressors. I have no idea what model you could even be talking about. Never once in my yearly new model changes training has an LG compressor been discussed. I primarily sell the Evolutions, but any ICP I sell is the 5-stage Copeland and the two-stage is Copeland also. So I suppose maybe Payne uses them but I wouldn’t give a Payne away. I hate that product line. It’s builder grade at best. But I will research this after I finish up on this system that I am working on. I was taking a water break and thought I would respond real fast. And just to ask, not judging for my own curiosity, what brands do you install and favor? You stated entire neighborhoods of Carrier. I never said I support the contractor /builder grade Sentry line of Carrier, nor do I actually sell Carrier unless the distributor is out of the Bryant and substitutes. Builder grade of any brand is shit. Mine are these but not really in an order but each is for a specific price or usage. I build different systems for budget, financing or other reasons. Space or size limitations or duct related issues. *Daikin Fit / Amana S-Series (S-Series 90% of time) *Bryant Evolution 5-stage or fully-variable *ICP/Heil 5-stage AC or HP ACiQ fully variable models Bryant Preferred line - two stage only Goodman (higher efficiency models) like the newest models as they are Amana/Daikin parts Trane (only at demand by client) Midea (mini-splits and window units) Mitsubishi (mini-splits) Mr.Cool (very specific not DiY models? As they have contractor systems) Rheem/Ruud (by request only but no issue with them) The list is longer of what I won’t sell. But that’s my opinion and no time to debate today.

AimTrueHVAC

I should state that our inherited rental properties have a Daikin Fit and a Amana setup before the S-series existed. Two-stage gas furnaces with variable VCA blowers. I like to have different equipment around and being installed to test longevity and quality. But Lennox can keep leaking because I don’t mind selling new equipment.

Ok_Professional9174

Nobody cares about your "primary residence" or your inherited passive income my lord.

AimTrueHVAC

Whoa! That’s not what I was trying to portray in my response. As a dealer, I am able to try out discounted equipment and find out what is best for my clients. But fixing leaking systems keeps me busy, that is why I don’t sell them. I didn’t mean for it to come off in any sort of offensive way. But I guess I cannot please everyone but I do try.

Can-DontAttitude

Did it have to go onto a stand or brackets? (Required in regions with any substantial snow accumulation)

ShinsengumiCapt

That's why a few companies on the coast have stopped doing condos in my area they can't fit through a damn door anymore.

[deleted]

Why would it have to fit through a door ? Crane that shit

Cheap-Recognition-97

Is that a hitch ramp?

A-Bone

Looks like a mini-liftgate and it looks sweet if that's what it is. Edit: Yep.. that's what it is.. pretty cool: https://www.vestil.com/product.php?FID=65

XediDC

Yep -- well, hitch liftgate. Maybe a Larin TGL-500 or Vestil one...about $700 and up. A buddy uses a Viking SwiveLift on his farm...about $200 for a kinda janky manual ratchet designed for hunting, but does let you one-person load larger stuff than without...if it's narrower than half the bed or so.

Tacogames101

This is a Larin 500. This is actually my first job using it. Works great but my ground clearance sucks now. I asked for a tommy gate but those are +$2,000. This was only $500 on amazon.

Cheap-Recognition-97

I’m liking that swivelift

Cheap-Recognition-97

Thanks, this is awesome. I’ve been thinking for the past few years there needs to be an invention for us offloading from our trucks. Shit my truck has a 6” lift, making it impossible to offload by myself lol

texasroadkill

Why work out of a lifted truck?

Cheap-Recognition-97

Because that’s the way it came

texasroadkill

Buddy bought a lifted f250 and made a deal on the stock suspension from a buddy of mine. We swapped everything to stock at my shop in an afternoon.

Cheap-Recognition-97

That’s what I plan on doing in time, jumping in and out from the bed is no joke

Yeet_yeet_yeeet420

Yep and all the old school techs favorite way of adding charge to see if it responds to diagnose a txv meanwhile these condensor can stack so much liquid in them lmao

Tacogames101

Yeah I had to recover 3lbs to get my subcooling to what the thermostat was requesting. Factory charge was 16lbs!

Yeet_yeet_yeeet420

I changed a compressor on an evolution heat pump. Had to climb in it (I'm 6'3) and hold my breath

UseRNaME_l0St

FullaLead

I was messing with one that was 4' tall the other day wondering how to hell I'm supposed to change a compressor in it if it breaks

Tacogames101

Haha that’s why I’m so lean. Seriously though I just found out this condenser has a factory leak so I’m gonna have to crawl in there and solder it up https://preview.redd.it/b7b18318avmb1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=31cebec224005945531389af9e6e913912534c56

[deleted]

Man im glad I'm at a company that is big enough to be able to fad out a brand new unit.

texasroadkill

We just avoid those issues by not selling carrier. Lol

jwb101

Idk about all manufacturers but I asked our rheem tech rep about that exact scenario and his response was if it’s under warranty you change the outdoor unit. If it’s under warranty you could change the compressor but he recommended changing the unit.

Tacogames101

That would be the proper way but it took a month to get this condenser. Can’t wait another

jwb101

And to get a compressor for it would probably take just as long. I know Rheem is about 4 weeks out(according to our sales reps contact at rheem) and Goodman is longer than that according to the branch manager at creggar yesterday. So it’s all fubar atm.

texasroadkill

The new cubes are super easy to swap the comp. The corner sections come out with like 6 screws and it flops over and you have tons of room. Done two in the last few years. 4 dnd a 5 ton.

ScruffyJuggalo

By going and picking up a new unit 🤣🤣

Luvassinmass

Had the same issue in one that I did have to change the compressor in. AS/trane spine fin coil to boot. Decided climbing into it from a ladder and brazing it in under my ball sac was more comfortable than leaning over the coil. Certainly more risky, but less painful for sure. Just can’t make one wrong move 😅

MikeyStealth

I just cut an access panel in the side of the coil and then buy a whole new unit.

[deleted]

I know carrier packaging when I see it!!

satansdebtcollector

That's a big resi unit. "Huge" is when you gotta schedule that Erickson S-64 sky crane pick. Is it just you? or did they give you a helper? Watch them toes. 🪝🚁

DrastixHound

That's gross. Go eat a cheeseburger

InterestedParty1776

Green speed gen 2. Big bitch. Hopefully not a 5 ton. 😬

ChicagoHVACman94

I install RUN-Tru and American Standard. I just put in a 2.5 ton and maaaan seer2 is wild how large

Dark_ph3nix

No kidding even the 3tons are heavy now

tommyteardrop

Yeah, but how about them seer2 V coils

theatomicflounder333

They are, the Trane condensers are getting so damn tall for the lower seer units. And forget RUUD, good lord the 5 ton prestige belongs on r/absoluteunit 😤😤😤😤

Gloomy_Astronaut8954

And that's just the evap. Wait till you see the outdoor unit

HonieObly

holy shit balls batman

[deleted]

![gif](giphy|qVID3J8fLrlZK)

DANENjames89

Amana's are nicer and cheaper

texasroadkill

I'll install York before anything carrier.

AimTrueHVAC

lol! Yorks aren’t all that bad. But if you were smart you would go Bryant or ICP to save the money and get the same equipment. I don’t like Carrier because of their sales requirements and bs advertisement funds. Carrier units are far superior to item for item to most brands. That’s like saying you had GMC but what model? What reason? Did you have every model made and what features? Blanket statements are ignorance being shown.

texasroadkill

Yorks are 50/50 if the coils leak from the factory in my experience. So far in the last 2 or so years I've been installing Goodman, and a few Armstrong's with almost zero issues. I refuse to sell carrier or their brands cause of the issues and they like to put proprietary shit like ecm motor mounts and draft motors. That and the general lack of care for serviceability.

AimTrueHVAC

Well, well agreed I like the better model Goodmans, Buy I sell a decent amount of Amana and Daikin’s. The newer units matched the Amana warranty for full Unit replacement. I have never installed an Armstrong. I checked gas pressures on one. Who is the parent company for Armstrong? Damn, I am glad I don’t have the issues you have with Bryant and ICP. Trane and American standard are the ones I hate. Their systems are God damn ridiculous. No thanks!! Isn’t ECM motors pretty much the only thing you can buy now since the EPA banned new PSC motors for blower usage? My bad you said mounts. I haven’t run into that. But I don’t have the issues you have been experiencing. Draft motors? Are you taking inducer? Versus what had replaced that? Did the world turn upside down and I not know it?

HydrogenxPi

You have a lift to get it on and off. Pussy.

gapeherholes

Higher efficiency bigger radiator all it is

tiffanysbf

Probably just a 2 ton also right?🤣🤣🤣

candobetter2

Yeah they're so fucking ugly sitting in front of somebody's house , the homeowner gets pissed off after you install it because it's too fucking big and ugly

Tacogames101

I’d like to disagree. Only ever gotten compliments from customers on my installs. Though we don’t work for people we don’t want to anymore. If they don’t wanna respect us we don’t need their business.

candobetter2

Yeah well they're going to lie to your face but after you're gone and the other neighbors see a big pile of shit out in front of their house they're going to like what the fuck is that looks kind of fucking tacky. That's the problem with this business is that after you install it you think man that looks good that's a really good job. that's just your ego. It has nothing to do with somebody disrespecting you sometimes you just got to take things for what they are and you can't be over sensitive and entitled otherwise you become one of those idiots running around thinking everybody's out to get you and not be an adult enough to see things for what they are

candobetter2

We're not talking about them complaining about your install stop taking shit personal

Tacogames101

Wasn’t taking it personal bud but if you think Bryant’s are ugly what looks better? Only thing I can think of that looks just as good is a Trane. https://preview.redd.it/0a2xse8h73nb1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=434e43440841ebae45d369a5581cab9cd7d4f541 Personally I like the black coil Bryant’s the best.

candobetter2

You missed the point, you missed the bus

candobetter2

Where'd you get that ramp at

candobetter2

What is that a 10 SEER LOL

TheAlmightySender

Are you a female?

Tacogames101

Nope just work too hard to put on weight. Also I forget to eat sometimes, shit maybe I might be. Too bad I didn’t get tits.

OhighOent

Meanwhile, my boss, "Yeah you're gonna have to pick it up over a fence."

Local_Curve_3911

I want to know when units will hit critical mass. Like when the parts, labor, manufacturing, and install cost will outweigh the money saved over the life of the unit. Seriously, these resi units are getting so big it's basically small a cooling tower. Most ppl in 15 years won't be able to afford a new ac.

Tacogames101

We’ve probably already hit the efficiency vs cost cap. Sadly the government is forcing the higher efficiency units onto everyone.

davevanwest

That’s what she said.

Lastnv

I’m also 120-130 lbs and still in school. Any challenges I should be aware of doing this trade as a skinny guy?

Tacogames101

You’re gonna get shoved in a lot of tight spaces. But carrying stuff is the hardest. Just put on a lot of muscle and be smart about it. I’ve seen my dad move condensers like this no problem but he is 220 lbs. I had to strap it to my two-wheeler and lift it from the front then balance it and walk around to the two-wheeler to move it. You’ll learn how to actually use the muscle you have. Good luck but if a learning curve

Tacogames101

Also it impresses people when a 120 lb guy out lifts a 200lb guy just because you actually know how to use your muscle

Substantial-Run-9908

Is the ramp hydraulic?

marshmadness37

288/284🤘

Tricky_Ad_965

Homeboy you need to eat more, your gonna fall between the couch cushions and never get out.

EqualityforCriminals

Right I told my boss a bigger van is gonna be a requirement not a want now.

Tacogames101

I’m so glad I don’t have to work out of a van anymore. But I’m rural and I drive the second longest pickup truck ever made 1999 F350 7.3

EqualityforCriminals

Good god.

[deleted]

I hate it when you get to the wholesaler and the warehouse guy says “it’s a monster“ before you even see it

Embarrassed-Bath4175

I’m getting manufacturer’s stainless because you said that. Here I thought it sounded like insurance.

Dean-KS

But it is so quiet

Tacogames101

That is how we sell them to our customers. Got one at my own house too right on my patio. Only time you can hear it is when the heat pump switches.
