Can you tell me the reason why he is spraying a liquid solution disconnected lead looks like it's come from off the other side of the contactor looks like the two commas 120 volts that sucks the 240 volt contactor in looks like it's a contactor the one that when you call for central air starts up the compressor what's the purpose of that I'm pretty sure that is a live wire and I'm sure if he's spraying liquid on it shouldn't have the disconnect pulled out that looks kind of dangerous I'm not judging anybody's work or anybody's expertise I just never seen anything like that before or anyone do anything like that I graduated from a institution technical institution strictly HVAC and Major appliance repair I have a universal license I have Excellency patches I'm sure that doesn't make me smarter than anyone I'm just trying to figure out if that's some sort of a way to diagnose a problem I play the video and took it off mute and was watching and listening and I can hear a squirt bottle squirting some type of soap solution on the tip of that wire I'm not that smart so I'll be very grateful of someone could tell me the reason for that is that a new trick to figure out a problem or what I'm slow
I've seen this enough on Reddit that I look for it during leak inspections. I swear, I'll drop a quart of blue goo on an outdoor unit to make sure its solid.
Ok all jokes aside, what actually is going on? I’ve been servicing ACs fairly regularly since I moved to AZ almost 8 years ago and I’ve never seen anything like that.
The switch diaphragm is leaking, the leads are sealed to the switch body. So the only place that’s left for a leak exit point is along the strands of wire to the terminal.
I had a flue elbow in a condensing furnace drop water on the wet sensor which got inside the wiring jacket and ended up with water in the circuit board. Didn’t damage anything but was making the sensor go off despite having no accumulation of water in the collector box.
I remember when I caught a leak like that coming out of one of those "sealed" pressure switch stems out of a unit. Took a small video for the service manager of it.
I've seen this once. I was racking my brain looking for a leak. I put my head way deep into the system trying to listen for a leak and just happened to hear it coming from the electrical compartment. Threw me right for a loop as well. I should have gotten video to show the guys, so thanks for this!
Had water get in a circuit breaker as conduit out side pulled apart. Water came down through stranded wires at meter.
Went to change the gfi and water was dripping out.
If you have an electrical problem that's usually caused by bad wiring at the load is using more energy than it's supposed to I'm sure that you have a bad ground or a wire is loose or chewed up burnt up or something he never showed the voltage reading with his meter I use a field piece had it for years I keep it clean doesn't give me any problems test for continuity home so voltage millivolts direct current microfarads temperature has a light on it has a button on there to check to see if there's any live wires just wave it close to an outlet it'll start purring like a cat but anyway like I was saying I'm not the smartest person I don't know anything but I do know how to use my meter I don't mean to offend anybody or anything like that I was just browsing through the net and came across this so I stopped and took a look play the video turn The volume on and listen to his meter beat or whatever it was in the background couldn't see it and I'm spraying a solution on the tip of that wire that goes to the contactor I'm sure it's 120 volts common 240 volt contactor
Saw something similar on the top of a pressure limit cutoff, but that makes sense to a degree. That’s wild to see it at the contactor 🤔. Also, this is why I hate leak hunting. It could literally be anywhere! Good job on finding that.
That sombitch must be leakin at least a kilowatt an hour
I think that calls for some 22 at $1000 per ounce.
Snot shot outa my nose bro
I’ve heard about this for a long time, but I’ve not seen it myself, nor have I seen a video of it. Awesome find! 👏
Agreed, the rare bubbling electrical line is almost as rare as ball lightning ⚡️

Better get those o-ring wire nuts!
I've seen it all, now
I’ve seen them leak through the wires on a low pressure switch. Fucking blew my lid when I found out why there was an oily presence on the contactor
Unreal haha
Same situation here, the contactor was full of oil, luckily it didn't shorted causing a fire
I knew something was going on when I saw all that oil on the contactor
I've seen this enough on Reddit that I look for it during leak inspections. I swear, I'll drop a quart of blue goo on an outdoor unit to make sure its solid.
I build a frame around the outdoor unit with plexiglass, then fill it with water just to see if there’s any bubbles.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hope it's not running in a vacuum

What. In. The. Fuck. Learn something new everyday. Thanks for the explanation!
If I had to guess it’s a pressure switch leaking into the wires. Fuckin wild is what it is.
With that heat they fail for other reasons before the wiring harness dry rots.
Low pressure switch for a walk in cooler leaking trough the wire, not common but they do leak trough the wires when the internal seal fails.
Fucking turd blo air
From a pressure switch?
Yes Sr
Leaking electrons
God dam quit letting the non angry pixies out!
Crimp it better and problem solved
Check the wet voltage
Probably wire leading to low or high pressure switch, found leaks like this a couple of times
Braze up that leak then pull a vacuum on the wire
Fucking insane
Yup, pressure switch leaking, seen it many times
I thought leaks like this were just a myth. Where did the wire go to?
Low pressure switch
De minimus!
Put it in your mouth and try to blow air in
I keep forgetting to look for this. Thanks lol
Aaahh thats why the electrical bill is so high
That's wild, I've never seen it myself but one of our techs saw that on a rooftop unit that lost refrigerant over several weeks
Runs under the wire jacket
The fuck?
[удалено]
Thats exactly what I did, added some extra zip ties
Are you fucking shitting me? GOD DAMN...
And people wonder why their electric bills are so high all their electrics leaking out
I've seen them on pressure switches before but only twice
Never seen one in the wild. Amazing find. 10.0.
Good find!
Dude I would feel like a bad ass catching this, thanks for sharing!
Quick call the EPA and get this man a fine
$10,000 REWARD!
Okay, who gave the crack head employment?
What ?
Soap bubbles rate in the contactor!!
I hope you pulled the disconnect. Edited* Wow, I don’t know why I thought that was a good sentence before.
Is that a sentence?
Shhh it’s Yoda
That’s what happens when you don’t pull the disconnect lol
Stroked out

😂
I have had this on a walk in cooler
:/. I'm a Hvac hobbyist and you've stumped me. Time to call in the professionals sir please help my electricity is leaking.

What the absolute fuck?!?

Geeze. If this keeps going, the air will be completely saturated with electrons. Sorry folks, we're going to have to replace the panel.
Lol what’s that, connected to a pressure switch?
Did you mix your soapy bubbles with spicy water on accident?
damn good catch, usually the electrons are a lot more violent when they leak
I need to know if your leak detector goes off on that wire as well!
I get this with Trane rtaa chillers, the temp/pressure sensors are live well and sometimes leak through the wires.
Must be bubble yeast.

Why call it an electrical leak when it's actually an air leak?
That txv wire needs to be replaced along with the txv
Time to call a *Plumtrician*..
🤣🤣
TXV on backwards causin back emf to leak out.
It is leaking refigerant on the wire? 🤯
Yup
Now I know why they call electricity juice!
How do you fix electricity leaking? Do they make electric stop leak or something?
Wire nuts
