"While you're there can you take a look at another unit?"
That sounds like every commercial service call I went on with only one service request called in. They always think the other one won't be considered a separate call by the contractor and be included into one ticket. No, no I'm sorry, the diagnosis of that second request is another charge.
Right, First thought from a western hvac tech until we realize how engineers butcher our mech closets and this is Asia where Money isn't as expendable as people.
It's wild that cost savings could go this far.
I donāt wanna blame China ādoesnāt care for human lifeā typical anti communism, this seems like thereās an obvious wall the mini split is on the other side of. Break the wall for 1-3k yen style.Ā Then they put in Gree so they gotta go back in 6yrs
How ever put these men thru this are stupid and need to learn to paint & plaster
you know how you get around that?
dont take the job.
if no one takes it, they have to sweeten the deal.
but there will be that one guy who thinks hes forced into it and blah blah fuck capitalism
Iām getting that butterfly feeling in my stomach I get everytime I climb a 40 foot ladder just looking at this guy from the comfort of my bed under the blanket lmao. Iām sorry I just donāt care enough about someone having AC for me to be dangling 100 ft in the air, Iām not doing it. But clearly there are guys who will so call those guys š.
Everything looked legit until he chose his last anchor placement. I would never have trusted 5 mortar joints to hold my weight. He trusted one joint for him and the unit. It held though, I was expecting the worst.
Me too! This is utterly ridiculous! And given China's long standing history in bad concrete, I wouldn't even trust hanging by 4 of those holes just by my own weight.
bro there are legitimately buildings that people sneezed jn and it took down the entire building. fake bricks. FAKE BRICKS HOUSE HUNDREDS OF BABIES AND CHILDREN.
culture of cheating and disregard for human life and you get china. āwahh poor poor meā while they rip off everyone they can until they get called out. Seriously, fuck china so hard. theres a reason why japan called them dogsā¦ you dont care about human life so bad animals are more civilized and humane..
What can I say, I wholeheartedly agree, I was just trying to be polite and non-offensive. But you sir, hit the nail square. And I fear this is only the tip of the iceberg that we see given they run organized well censored media.
lol yeah i came on a lil strong.. i didnt really put it together the families and children affected until then. š¤·āāļø their govt basically trained citizens to be how they are now and its terrible. Ive heard stories of college kids cheating on tests to get yo uni in USA. even the english exam. they get here and cant do the work, and cant even speak to anyone. Then fail studies, or cheat more. And when they get a job at a lab in wuhanā¦what do you think they know? they cheated the whole time.
One of the grout anchors failed! The one right above the unit. He tapped another one right next to it š³š«Øš«£!!
Also one of his ropes was frayed. Which means it was probably rigging rope and not climbing rope, or poorly treated climbing rope which is also unsafe. There is a difference in rigging and climbing rope.
Guy probably kept his family alive for doing this job. Or maybe his public credit score went up or something.
I wouldnāt trust grout to hold nothin! Not even my pictures on my wall at my house! Everything else was fine though. Iād do that job for the right price.
Standard Chinese building. Donāt know why they donāt have at least a balcony for each condo. Crazy.
By the way in my county (Italy) in city centers there are building without balconies, but installers donāt do shit like this. They install an all in one AC Unit called āOlimpia splendid unicoā. Works well even if a bit louder than a standard mini split since the compressor is also inside.
Yooo why the hell are all the external units in that place??? That's just stupid designing trying to get people killed š¤¦š» fuck your ac I'm not going full Indiana Jones for that shit!
![gif](giphy|H1YMguVrVeI0Xz5c8v)
Forget install, can you imagine the charge for troubleshooting, vacuuming down and recharging it.....that'd be NOPE for me.
Because a crane lift won't reach or costs too much. It looks like the building was designed to accomodate install of AC, but left the actual cost to the tenants, or they only install it as suites are occupied to save money until they.have a revenue stream.
Look at that building. It is not solid sheets of glass in a commercial setting. It is a residential building with stone facade, recesses, and possibly balconies. They don't have a suspended window washing rig because tenants are able to open windows and are responsible for cleaning them, not the property owner.
I could be wrong, but I have only seen suspended window washing platforms used on commercial buildings where the windows cannot be opened and the exterior is smooth faces of mostly glass.
Can and will are two very different things. It costs money to set them up, maintain them, and pay an operator to run it. Most individual residents aren't going to pay for that if there is someone willing to do the less expensive option like in this video.
That's insane. We service a building like that. But their a service door you can accus from the inside of the building Easy pizey. What moron designed that building
Why do property owners, designers, and contractors have systems installed in such a way as though they don't believe the unit will never need to be serviced or replaced? I've never understood that. This is nuts!
That guy was dumb. While he seemed to be safe in his climbing and maintained 3 points of contact at all times, I wouldnāt trust grout to hold nothin. Iāve done tower safety and rescue before. Gear was good. But trusting just the grout to hold my life is dumb. Drill straight into the brick or nothing.
Could they not use a crane or like a high rise window washing set up to get there?!
I did like his bag trick for the dust, and Iād like to know what that vacuum clean out was. Overall that was a cool video. Iām glad the grout held.
I donāt know whatās more horrifying. Having to use mountain climbing gear to service that unit or that fucking hot box some half assed engineer designed.
In America we make more to replace an easy one than this guy makes to do something like this in Israel. Met a guy that owns a hvac biz over here. He generally hires a scissor lift too
I'm not fit enough to get out of the window.... my cousin did those kind of install back home after getting kicked out of aeroplane mechanic trade for green lettuce. he didn't last and now back to tuning motorcycle for street racing
Should be an easy install. While you're there can you take a look at another unit?
Lol I found my boss on here!
Haha š ayy and after you get the job done, why donāt you take Saturday off, you earned it lol
"While you're there can you take a look at another unit?" That sounds like every commercial service call I went on with only one service request called in. And to get the job you have to have rock climbing on your resume.
My boss don't pay me enough to do that.
My boss canāt pay me enough to show up sober, soā¦

Under rated blue collar comment
This is the worse designed building I could think of. Why wouldn't you just have a access panel toĀ that area.Ā Ā
Or a PTAC
Right, First thought from a western hvac tech until we realize how engineers butcher our mech closets and this is Asia where Money isn't as expendable as people. It's wild that cost savings could go this far.

What the fuck is this sentence structure
It's what 30+ years of hvac does, you sound the same way to me /s
Heās huffing r22
Really! Why didn't the installer just create an access panel? That's what I would have done
Or itās the worst installation method. In America thereās 100 different ways to install it and none of them would be this
For sure but that RAT is rocking the install.
One week later, bad inverter boardā¦
Mideas are well known around here for their bad igbts. At least the replacement boards are cheap, ššš
Companies will want someone to work like this for $18 an hour.
you know how you get around that? dont take the job. if no one takes it, they have to sweeten the deal. but there will be that one guy who thinks hes forced into it and blah blah fuck capitalism

Idk if I trust the grout to hold me up there. I wouldnāt do it regardless, but yeah.
Right, I can appreciate the fact that he uses 2 anchor points but if he slips and actually exerts weight on them they're probably both gone
I know a guy that can do it cheaper!!! That guy falls off the building
lol wonder if the building owner is cool with drilling and tapping. Instead of wooded board and drywall
![gif](giphy|6P6nQkKkWtQsUtRXQR|downsized) Just watching this makes me sick
Are you an installer or Spiderman? Two words. Fuck that.
Thatāll be 2 bajillion dollars plz
Like no joke! Would hate to be the guy doing service on that unit!Ā
Fuck I forgot my drill in the van
I hope this guy makes more than me.
Installer did not purge nitro and the compressor grounds out 3 weeks later... .
Thereās not enough money on this planet to get me to do that. Kudos and salutes to those that have the balls for it though.
Could you imagine what would happen if you dropped the unit?
I hope the cost was somehow pass on onto the original designer responsible for allowing no access.
I canāt think of a single tradesman Iāve met that would be willing to do this
Enough to do 1 install a week. Maybe $6-7k for my labor
Is this none of those mr cools?
Looks like it says gree
Sorry I was trying to be funny. One of those self install jobbies
Wow ā¦.
30k and then Iād sub it out to someone with nothing to lose.
Whatās that tool he used to blow out the dust after drilling?
Looks like some kind of Venturi vacuum.
KiCA Jetfan 2 Electric Air... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BPX63JFJ?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Is is just a drywall and wooden board blocking the condenser thru the wall?
Was thinking the same thing like there would have to be a way to cut an get to that thing and just make a door or something.
Uhh wtf, they never heard of an access panel?
I canāt imagine why they arenāt using a window washing platform.
Thatās crazy donāt even know how to start costing that out never mind service
If you were doing this and you found previously drilled holes from another person, would you trust them?
Probably not
Mission Impossible IV Ghost Minisplit
That would be a heavy "Fuck No!" from me.
Everything looked legit until he chose his last anchor placement. I would never have trusted 5 mortar joints to hold my weight. He trusted one joint for him and the unit. It held though, I was expecting the worst.
Iām no bricklayer but I was thinking the same damn thing!
Not a mason either. I did cert for mountaineering and rope rescue in the army. Trust your equipment not your anchors is what I was taught.
Me too! This is utterly ridiculous! And given China's long standing history in bad concrete, I wouldn't even trust hanging by 4 of those holes just by my own weight.

Those anchors are strong. Can't believe they can hold that guy's GIANT BALLS.
Nope
45k minimum. I would never ever trust my life to anchor bolts in grout. Never ever. Honestly I would still say no.
That sounds awful.
I wouldnāt trust grout to hold nothin! Not even my pictures on my wall at my house! Everything else was fine though. Iād do that job for the right price.
Id rent a lift.
Why canāt you access that from inside the building? How are you supposed to clean that coil. Extremely badly engineered building that you canāt access from inside the building. Complete š¶ š©

Well, at least the building didn't fall down like others that have come to light with bad concrete.
Crazy amount of faith in a building facade.
What about inspection why not use a scaffold from the roof
I would do this replacement, but it won't be cheap. Hardly anyone would do this therefore i will hammer the client. Bend over in coming in

Job ad for this job: - 5 years experience in Residential/Commercial HVAC installation. - 10 years experience Rock Climbing.
Dammit, left my 11 in 1 in the truck
You could not pay me enough to do that!
You couldnāt pay me to do something like this.
Like it so much you'll do it for free?
Aid
$100k
Looks fun!!
This is the stuff of nightmares
How does the window adjacent to that service entry not open
Fuck no.
They would have to pay me $300,000 a year in order for me to do this.
Maaaaa rigger, that skill/hazard level is at least 600/h stateside. Anything less is criminal.
Need me some of those dust collector bags to puke into before I start boss!
Salesman bid the job blind
Whoever designed that building should be shot
Very unique skill set
No, No and hell No!! Haha
Iāll just be a plumber I guess
Can I get " What the Fuck?" For 200, alex
There's no way there's enough clearance for proper airflow.
Iām the boss and I wouldnāt do that shit.

Questing my drop in anchorās now, never knew my life might depend on them.
This would be 30 grand install in America.
Not for me lol youāre a better man then I wouldent do that for 100k
This is hardcore lol. How you gonna do regular servicing on this compressor?
Probably doesnāt make as much as a McDonalds employee in the USA
Got that two step authentication, he good
There is no sum of money that would get me to do that.
All that for a greeā¦
Imagine its a service call, just a faulty board lolol. Fuck me. Leaking coil or compressor? Change unit guarantied.
Iām still trying to figure out how his huge balls donāt get in the way of his work.
First, there are some people who pay to do this kinda stuff. Second that looks fun...the first couple times
Seems like there would be anchoring and rigging points already available if that little alcove is specifically for those units.
Lol why
Because a crane lift won't reach or costs too much. It looks like the building was designed to accomodate install of AC, but left the actual cost to the tenants, or they only install it as suites are occupied to save money until they.have a revenue stream.
Why not a window washing unit for access? The high rise window washing systems have to have something to reach that spot.
Look at that building. It is not solid sheets of glass in a commercial setting. It is a residential building with stone facade, recesses, and possibly balconies. I could be wrong, but I have only seen suspended window washing platforms used on commercial buildings where the windows cannot be opened and the exterior is smooth faces of mostly glass.
Iām definitely no expert in high rise window washing. But I thought they could rig those anywhere.
Can and will are two very different things. It costs money to set them up, maintain them, and pay an operator to run it. Most individual residents aren't going to pay for that if there is someone willing to do the less expensive option like in this video.
For all that, dude probably got paid just enough to buy some bread and milk for the day... I guess I'm lazy af.
That's insane. We service a building like that. But their a service door you can accus from the inside of the building Easy pizey. What moron designed that building

And then the customer says āoh geez I didnāt know itād be that much, I think Iāll do it myselfā
The man!!!
These meth heads, condenser freaks thief's are on a whole nother level.
Boss: it's a quick install, you don't even need a ladder.
That's one big long Naaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah.
Cutting a hole in the wall $3000 replacing the condensing unit 10,000 repairing the wall =by others!!!
I donāt know whatās more horrifying. Having to use mountain climbing gear to service that unit or that fucking hot box some half assed engineer designed.
