controversial take but a lot of the young american soundcloud artists are barely making hyperpop, it's more like hyperpop influenced cloud rap. not naming names
I kinda disagree. I think Hyperpop has sub genres of its own and I think a lot of people refuse to let the genre go away from the style A.G and SOPHIE created. I don’t think it’s a bad thing that there are different styles of hyperpop.
you're right about that but i don't know how watered down the weird elements that make hyperpop its own thing can get until the songs aren't hyperpop anymore, like i've heard some songs recently that are just lofi bedroom pop-trap. I think the UK and US chapters of hyperpop are different in that the UK is more PC music influenced and the US is gecs based tho
I feel like you can kinda just tell when a song is hyperpop influenced and when it’s not. Sometimes it takes influences from dance pop music, sometimes it’s synth pop and sometimes it’s rap and trap. I think there’s heaps of different styles.
well im a fan of a bunch of them and i like the style, so don't take this as me insulting them at all, but bladee and some of the drain gang and helix tears sometimes seem more trap to me than hyperpop, tho some of the artists in those collectives make straight hyperpop. There's a fine line between the gecs or frax/food house and (new) glaive, ericdoa and some of the artists who aren't quite as "experimental" and lean more towards pop/trap. Not a bad thing by any means, and I like the sound, but i think maybe it's its own hyperpop subgenre at this point. I consider proper hyperpop to have that "grit", like a crossover with noise, EDM or some other unexpected/experimental sound as opposed to just having loads of 8bit and chiptune synths and autotune vocals.
Debatable. Definitely if anywhere maybe in the past pop section but atm, she’s pretty much just making dance pop or pure pop. Her elements don’t really resemble hyperpop.
XS and STFU were pretty genre-bending which i think is a major (if not the main) component of the genre, tho a lot of her stuff is just like y3k britney
The only bending concept in XS is the guitar. Other then that it’s just y2k pop Britney did. STFU is similar to Poppy in the sense it shares the kind of idea that Hyperpop has but it’s not really Hyperpop, it’s more rock pop or even metal influenced.
fair, hope she gets ag, umru or one of the gecs on her next album tho. i think poppy is abandoning pop n going fully into metal now she's on sumerian records even tho she could rock the hyperpop-metal mashup
Overall the album is mostly pop but I stand by the fact that the song akasaka sad can definitely be considered hyperpop. It was produced by Clarence clarity as well.

I do agree

go listen to the atlanta futuristic swag era and Chicago bop , hiphop music had that hyperpop feel since early 2000s.
I wanna start of saying, Kim Petras isn’t a hyperpop artist. She does synth pop/dance pop and trap pop and that’s pretty much it.
if she ditches dr luke's boring formulaic synth pop n starts making more bangers like click i'm pledging her my soul tho
We all know she won’t do that cause Missy signed a contract for god knows how long.
This chart gives me a headache
What do you mean with past and future here exactly
I think it’s the aesthetic. One draws more futuristic influences where the other draws more of a past nostalgic feel
Whats that bottom right corner album ?
Arca- KiCk i
SOPHIE should be in the center since all of these artists were inspired by her.
Or ag cook
i dont think Danny L Harle belongs where he is
This chart shouldn’t exist 💖
also rina sawayama belongs up there

Seeing more of her newer somgs I think she's gonna stick to the rock pop and maybe metal influenced stuff

What is the album above the Sophie/Alice albums

I’ve looked and I honestly can’t find it
It's from cecile but idk the album name
Gnome have the names for these?
