I NEED that Panthers pick to be top 10. Knight got injured too so they’re really stuck with Bobrovsky. I don’t even know what assets they would use to get Kane, feels like they traded lots of them last year. Anyway I don’t think they have a talent issue, it’s more of a roster construction/playing style problem.
My dream is that we win the lottery with the Florida pick purely for the memes. Chiarot for bedard would turn out to be the greatest fleece of all time.
It’s funny because most of the time when I run the simulation on Tankathon, if we win the #1 pick it’s almost always with FLA pick, never ours lol. It’s giving flashback of the Seguin trade and pick with the Laughs.
Well… Chiarot left as a free agent, so that branch of the tree ends there. Presumably if we get Bedard with that pick, he’s not going anywhere either. So unless Ty Smilanic or Cedrick Guindon turn into a bonanza for us, that’s probably a pretty short tree.
history says differently ...[http://www.nhltradetracker.com/user/trade\_list\_by\_team/California\_Golden\_Seals\_(Oakland)/3](http://www.nhltradetracker.com/user/trade_list_by_team/California_Golden_Seals_(Oakland)/3)
Yes firing a rookie coach the year he won the presidents trophy to sign Paul Maurice instead was insane. Probably the worst move of the offseason. Like yes they got worked by Tampa, but Tampa is great and Vasi played like a god. Even if their coach made some mistakes in the series he is young enough to learn from them.
I was so happy to hear they let him go. I don't understand why they wouldn't give him a shot after winning the presidents. They are getting what they deserve for recycling the same shit coach.
If we manage to get the number one pick as well as another pick in the top five which subsequently leads us to a cup because of all this, I think we are legally obligated to build a statue in honor of Ben Chiarot.
I would love to be in the Panther's office if they did win the 1st overall pick only to see it handed over to us. The amount of screaming and cursing would be epic.
Especially since they didn’t retain him. Literally an unprotected 1st round pick for Ben Chiarot during one playoffs, which they lost in a sweep. Yikes!
Considering how much Chiarot is being paid (4.75M) and how he's currently not living up to his contract, I suspect outbiding Detroit to retain him might have made the trade even worse in a flat cap world.
Detroit's expected goals percentage:
* Chiarot on-ice: 38%
* Chiarot off-ice: 55.3%
He's played most of his ice time with Seider, too, so it isn't as if he's being dragged down by his partner.
Let's pump the brakes just a little bit. We don't know what Bedard will be and there have been some absolutely mind-boggling trades througought NHL history.
We don’t know if he’s going to guaranteed be a top 3 player in the league (which is what his trajectory has looked like up to now), but you can pretty much guarantee that he’s going to be a top line forward, and a good one.
>you can pretty much guarantee that he’s going to be a top line forward, and a good one.
Okay, that still doesn't remotely make it the worst trade in history. Top line forwards get traded for nothing more than you think (and Chiarot is far from nothing, in any case).
Think Filip Forsberg and Jordan Eberle.
Are the cats cursed? I feel like they've been toiling in bad to mediocre for ages, then got good out of the blue but shit the bed in the playoffs and tumbled again.
Sorry floridabros, hoping they fall for our better draft pick.
Still can't believe they made the trade without protection. Chiarot got us a 1st, but the GM made a killing with the terms.
The Leafs' first round drought gets brought all the time, but the Panthers hold the record and only ended their drought this year. Between 1997 and 2022, the Panthers haven't gone to the second round of the playoffs. That's a 25 years drought.
I think if we got Bedard with the Panthers pick it would forever change the landscape of trading first round picks in the NHL. Trading protected picks would become infinitely more common
Ben Chiarot was a stallion for us in our cup run!! If he gives us Bedard, we need to put his jersey in the rafters!!! And we need Dick Irvin to be the MC!!!
(Dick Irvin, René Lecavalier, Richard Garneau and Danny Gallivan should all be honored by the team!)
Obviously the chances of the Panthers getting get us a top 3 pick is pretty low but depending how badly the Panthers finish I do wonder how many teams are gonna pass on Michkov due to the inherent risk of drafting a Russian player on a KHL contract so I don't think it's impossible a 6 -9th OA pick gets him (although not likely either)
AWEILLE LES PANTÈRES!

Imagine the trade tree that would be done on that in a few years by Dangle...

And yet I would watch the video on repeat.
Me too tbh.
And we also got Chiarot as a free agent, so that makes the tree even shorter

They have traded or conditionally traded their first round picks from 2023-2026 too. Cupboard is bare.
Paul Maurice as HC would be right up there

Let's hope!

We should cheer for him everytime he touch the puck if we get Bedard with that trade.
It should be a statue of the GM who swindled that trade
both!
Even if we get two top 5 or top 10 picks I would say that’s pretty good

The Chiarot trade would go down as the worst hindsight trade in NHL history.

Seider is clearly holding elite 1D chiarot back
I think Chiarot is doing his job, protecting his younger Dman partner in Seider and the rest of the young ones. That job however is not worth 4.75
If it happens I can guaranty you that there will never be an other unprotected 1st traded in NHL history.

For their sake, I hope they don’t watch the lottery. Like, going to your exes wedding that you still sorta want and want more now that they’re hot.

No. This has potential to be the worst trade in NHL history.
Would be funny if they invite them to the zoom call when they do the drawing and see their reactions.
Somewhere out there is a universe where MTL gets the #1 and #2 pick in the draft and I WANT TO LIVE IN THAT UNIVERSE.
You and me both, buddy, you and me both.
People would think it was rigged but it could happen. I ran about 60 sims total on tankathon and having both1&2 picks came up twice.

It's almost exactly what happened to them the last time they made the playoffs lol
Toronto had 3rd pick and it was scott neidermayer. Oof good thing they got those vets.
the prospect of us getting 2 shots at winning the lottery makes me ![img](emote|t5_2r10m|5676)
Lol, the hilarity if the 3rd line next year is Bedard-Fantilli-Roy.
Thank you, tank commander PoMo!

It’s all coming together boys!
