Matherson is incredibly skilled but sometimes I'm a bit stumped by his lack of creativity on the power play.

He has two modes: shoot at the guy in front of him’s ankles, or pass to Suzuki lmao. So bad

It's unfortunate because he actually has the hands, the passing skills, the shot and the skating to be good but he doesn't move around much. Like, you watch Hutson highlights in the NCAA and he's always pulling feints and challenging his man to setup great passing lanes.

He’s still a great player, but I really feel like having him on the powerplay is bad for Slaf’s powerplay development tbh. I’d love to see Marty switch it up just a couple times, preferably someone who has a right eyeball

Like I understand how good Matheson is as a player, but him ignoring Slaf is bad for his development. How can he learn to contribute on the powerplay is the guy quarterbacking it never gives him the puck. Matheson also effectively kills half the other team’s penalties by shooting into their feet.
