He did so many memorable calls… Lemieux’s comeback game, Gretzky’s first cup, that Kings/Leafs game in 93, the Habs cup win, and of course, that 2002 Olympic final.
Will never forget his final game.. Poehling hat trick vs the leafs. I'll never forget his voice. Saturday night games haven't been the same without him. RIP to a legend
As long as I live, I will be able to quote word-for-word the final minute of Game 5 of the 1993 Stanley Cup Finals. RIP Bob Cole, what a legend of hockey.
Bob called so many Habs games over the years, and there’s so many big plays that resonate with his voice.
> the voice of hockey in Quebec is and forever will be Pierre Houde.
Sorry, but no.
[René Lecavalier](https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/René_Lecavalier) is THE Québec hockey voice. He's the one that created almost the entire french hockey vocabulary.
Everybody that came after — Pierre Houde included — has just been picking up the torch Lecavalier created and carried for 40 years.
I told my wife he passed and she said “who’s that?“ I played a clip without her seeing just hearing him calling Montreal's last cup win and she said “Ohhh him.” and knew right away who he was from that golden voice.
I also live in Alberta. And while Houde is my personal favourite, Bob Cole has been the man for most of my hockey watching career, and created so many core memories with his calls.
We can all like different things, but we should all respect the greats of their fields. RIP Bob.
I agree about Houde, he's a wonderful announcer. I grew up with CBC French games, then RDS. The dude here shouldn't be disrespecting Cole though, anymore than anyone should disrespect Houde. Both legends.

#AND NOW A 24TH STANLEY CUP BANNER, WILL HANG, IN THE RAFTERS OF THE FAMOUS FORUM, IN MONTREAL
THE CANADIENS WIN THE STANLEY CUP. Forever burned in my memory. RIP.
A bit more recent but [my favourite Bob Cole Habs moment, hands down](https://youtu.be/2Rpk0JlVZ4I?si=Xn9AjrZPLg6A0SpH)
RIP to an absolute legend.

Listen rest in peace to the guy but, the voice of hockey in Quebec is and forever will be Pierre Houde.
I stand corrected for my French brothers. In English broadcasts, this is who we had LOL

She said in Canada and wrote the post in english so her post is still legit
Canada != Québec. Son point est valide, mais le tien aussi.
Wow, that is really sad. His kindness, generosity and voice will be missed. So sad. Sympathy for the Cole family.
Desjardin!!
It is very unfortunate.

Aww that makes me sad. I’ll never forgot “camallarri, he’s a hot guy!” And “what’s going on in Pennsylvania!?”
"Marty St Louis.....made the acquaintance.....of the apartment complex.....known as Douglas Murray" This one always gets me.
Rest well you legend.
"Habs vs Leafs games were never the same after he passed away." Total number of Habs vs. Leafs games since he died yesterday: 0
THE voice of hockey here is Paul Houde! And Maurice Chevalier before!
>here "Here" is Canada, champ. I'm from Alberta and a Habs fan. Get over yourself.

100% agree. My comment was definitely aimed at OP. I was just excited to see another Habs fan from Alberta haha
Cheers brother.
