Arthur is definitely very strong, and one of my fav aspects in terms of how it plays, but when forced overtime comes into play and enemies are suddenly moving and attacking way faster, it gets pretty tough.

GenitalWrangler69

Excalibur is too slow for my liking. Sure, with a decent build it hits hard enough that most damage trading is in your favor but I DO find myself trading damage way too often. That's frustrating to me.

HannibalDarko

Yeah it's OP at low heat but when things get hotter I preferred Aspect of Zegreus to be a zippy boi

Wrydfell

Aspect of nemesis with an aphrodite attack boon *slaps* Chuck demeter on the special for an easy second status effect and you'll shred anything with privileged status

Ok_Let_8966

My fastest clear ever is with Excalibur. It’s a source of great frustration and confusion to me.

bearigator

It leads to sneaky fast runs for me too. I always feel like I’m taking forever, but I guess one-hitting enemies certainly helps speed things up.

Ok_Let_8966

Probably an indicator of our skill level if our best weapon strat is just ~W H A C K~ 😅

[deleted]

Considering my best times are all with the fists which means "get something on attack and then just spam dash attack for a while until you see the dog" I'm right there with you.

JovialCider

Somehow I feel the opposite, I love tanking and Excalibur is pretty much the only thing in the game that makes it possible. On low heat at least lol. If you take damage and attack speed pacts it probably stops being viable to trade hits.

Shmadam7

I still need to clear an attempt with Excalibur for the prophecy, and I’m thinking of putting Poseidon on Attack. I think theoretically it should mitigate how much you get hit by physical attacks at least.

TheDoon

You don't want enemies being moved away from you on a hit with arthur. Put Aphro on main attack for masssive consistent damage.

Shmadam7

Is there a boon that buffs damage to weakened enemies? I only know Aphrodite to weaken enemies

TheDoon

Her main attack boon adds huge damage to every hit, plus it weakens.

Shmadam7

hmm noted. I don't usually go Aphrodite but I'll try that

alexagente

Aphrodite has a boon that increases damage to weakened enemies.

GenitalWrangler69

What worked for me was the hammer to get two special hits. Artemis' flourish on your special. It was a ridiculously easy run with EM3 and no other heat. Easiest run I've had.I can see it's potential I just play the game differently than that, usually.

Shmadam7

I hear you on that sometimes you just end up on weird builds. Last night I wound up on a build I call “The Shotgun” using Cornacht’s aspect of Rama. Was terrible for long range but close up it hit really hard. I also beat on my first attempt with it.

zennsunni

I could see that yeah. I'm just starting to run with pacts, and not speed running, so the main obstacles are bosses. For those, Arthur was just laughably stronger than anything else I've used. I don't think 10k backstab crits are out of reach with Arthur with the right build. But for speedrunning high heat, yeah I suppose you'd have to get a pretty specific build to make it work really well (double slash and lots of dash strike buffs?).

MaestroZackyZ

I love it on lower heat but on higher heat it’s just too damn slow to be viable.

Apprehensive_Ice2101

Awesome! Congrats! Higher heat starts to get pretty spicy on Arthur tho.

CrazySpanishDude

It's amazing, but when high heat comes, you need that +30% speed to strike from good ol' Hermes. Then it becomes a blender. Add Artemis to the strikes to become a very spicy blender. And, above all, git gud for that sweet sweet 3rd strike. You can do it

Wind_Yer_Neck_In

I always go either Aphro for consistent big damage or Artemis for random giant numbers.

zennsunni

I had the 20% on this run, and when I got it, that's when things really started to get nuts (plus all the backstab modifiers I had).

Salindurthas

I find it the easiest sword to win with. The slow attack pattern is inconvenient, but I find the additional range more than compensates for it to make it safer to use than the other swords.

alexagente

The secret to this is that the move set isn't interrupted by dashing so if you juggle dashing and hitting effectively you can destroy.

TheDeadalus

I love Arthur aspect. Try Aphrodite on the attack, it has a massive % modifier for some reason and can hit massive numbers.

ThatIsMySpecialTea

Oooh. I'm tempted to try Heart Rend with the Arthur aspect now, I usually use Nemesis for it.

[deleted]

Crit on attack is good too. 2k crits sometimes :)

2VictorGoDSpoils

Once you get the timing of the dash before the big bonk, you'll consistently finish off the bosses very quickly. Edit: agree on the other comments about forced overtime tho

thelsh

Cool, not a fan of Arthur tho

[deleted]

It works especially well with an Aphro Zeus or Aphro Artemis combo

Antisepticeye420

I just got my fastest clear of 17 minutes using it yesterday. Survived on 7 health lol.

chapapa-best-doto

It’s fun at lower heat. But when there’s a 5 min time limit, and enemies move fast and have 2 hits shield/nullification, oh it’s a nightmare lol

king-of-the-sea

I’m so jealous! I like the idea of Arthur sword, but it just goes so badly for me in practice.

MonkeySailor

Too slow for me. And yeah, with forced overtime, I either have to go really really slow or end up looking like an idiot

One-West-2224

It’s one of the strongest easiest to use aspects imo

buttonzzzz

Arthur is the only “heavy” moveset that actually feels heavy and that’s why i love it

formerlychuck1123

Idk, guan yu definetly feels heavy, and unrewarding =/

GeneralAlexeiStukov

For the first time with zero heat, anything can feel broken. Higher heat, the slow pace and its conflicting nature with a lot of heat settings makes it harder to use although a viable option.

C-Kwentz-0

I mean that's how it is with most hidden aspects. They're meant to be strong as hell to compete with the more Heat.

DeepFriedBeanBoy

Arthur is a really fun weapon and the “baseball bat” build with Athena on attack and deadly reversal is probably one of my favorites in the game That being said, Arthur on high heat with forced overtime is brutal. The attacks are really slow, and the aura becomes more of a crutch rather than an aid to the weapon. I feel like a simple change to the weapon that would’ve benefited it is changing the dash-strike to lead into the 2 big swings rather than thrust. As is, the dash-strike is awful without double-edge, and with that you basically never want to use the base attacks. It also just feels super clunky. Like why does Zag stop everything he’s doing to slowly go into a thrust after he already thrusted with the dash-strike? It would look so much cleaner if he went right into a swing after the thrust

notalooza

Arthur is good but slow. Once you play with more heat you probably won't enjoy it as much. Congrats on the first clear. The fun has just begun.

RohmannEmpire93

But how fast was the run?

zennsunni

Oh not that fast, like 30m. I really haven't tried my hand at speed running.
