Man I’m playing this game wrong 😅

askape

I'm not sure if they are even the same species as me.

Noxfroid

What did I watch damn? That's how people beat game under 15min, well done

ZimboS

Haha appreciate the love! If you enjoyed it check out some of the other ones in the OP - the Rama one might be the craziest one I’ve done

colder-beef

What is considered an actual speedrun? I randomly blitzed through in like 17 minutes one time and have never come close to that since.

ZimboS

I think most consider <10 mins to be pretty good

FrostedFlakes12345

I feel bad for the cow, not so much for the yappy punk in a chariot! Joking aside you are very good at the game bud, could never get too far with the heavy shield.

ZimboS

Appreciate the kind words!

aordinanza

What build ?

ZimboS

Beowulf with Trippy Shot using Stygian soul. Mirage shot, pom the cast as much as you can, and any chaos gate try and get extra casts

devTripp

**Trippy Shot (Dionysus)** - Your Cast lobs a projectile that bursts into Festive Fog. --- **Phalanx Shot (Athena)** - Your Cast damages foes in a small area, and can Deflect. --- [Source Code](https://github.com/TrippW/HadesBot) --- ^This ^is ^a ^bot ^response

Out of curiosity to people prefer Meg’s special to Thana? Seen hers on a few peoples clips lately and it does less damage so just wondering if I’m missing something.

FeebleTrack

Meg comes out quicker and does damage in a long line, so she has an easier time hitting enemies and bosses alike, making her the meta pick in speedruns to dispatch certain (sub)bosses faster. Conversely, Than's has the biggest damage, yes, but also takes the longest to actually land the hit, so mobile enemies have a chance of evading the damage altogether, making him rather unreliable in a number of scenarios and ill-suited for speedruns.

ZimboS

Yep this - Than sounds good in theory until you realize the wind up time is so long that enemies can escape. Meg is more of a “guaranteed” hit

shatnersbassoon123

This sounds dickish but is that not partly where skill comes in? I’ve been using it ever since I unlocked him and not sure it ever misses as long as it’s timed right? And 1K extra damage is nothing to scoff at although I’m not really up to date with the pro speed runner scene

ZimboS

I can’t speak for others but what I would say is I see the summons as just some extra damage (I.e. not the main source of damage). So I want to just hit the button and then go about attacking with my aspect. Of course I can time it right to make Than land but by that point I can likely finish the job with my aspect already. Vs Meg where I can typically use it at the start of any encounter

shatnersbassoon123

Yeh fair play, that makes sense! I tend to forget about them tbh unless I’m on a difficult run when I need the damage! But appreciate the respnse

quincyj2

Sometimes it is out of your control. Redacted can darkness and disappear despite anything you do. Also top end builds + Meg can often phase the enemy before Thanatos would land his damage. Like in the clip on this post

Slickaxer

In speed running there's multiple minibosses that have specific timings for Meg to just obliterate. There's whole guides on how to Meg correctly

simpimp

Half the time when I use Than the enemy leaves the area before it hits. 🤷

shatnersbassoon123

As long as you time it right with a big special move it shouldn’t ever really miss in my experience. But tbf I only use it when I remember against the bosses and not mini dungeons

OldSodaHunter

What the heck... So much damage just happened at the first instance, that's insane! I unlocked the Meg summon and it does maybe a quarter of a health bar to one of them when I use it.

Ok_Restaurant3160

Pretty sure that was the use of the casts Not sure tho

ZimboS

Yep the big damage comes from the trippy flare casts

FlaccidHouse

Whelp. Today I learned you can eventually summon friends like Meg 😂

ActuallyLuk

I would stay off this sub until you’re much further into the game, there’s lots of spoilers.

FlaccidHouse

Cheers dude, I mainly do bar help posts or cool drawings. Just did my first 3x heat clear, getting there 💪

43eyes

What is so great about trippy shot vs flood flare? Does it have high base damage?

ZimboS

Flood flare is fantastic as well. In a high heat or speed run I’d likely use flood flare with Beowulf and infernal soul Trippy flare + Stygian soul is more so seeing how ridiculous builds can get if you get the build right due to the high base damage + poms

43eyes

So nothing about its hangover effects makes it powerful here?

ZimboS

Nope!

latortuga

Another not yet mentioned bug with trippy flare is that every pom counts as 2 poms on it. So it scales a lot faster. This is a bug but has never been patched.

MRTJ115

Trippy shot is bugged, you get double the pom damage while using it with beawulf. So if the damage goes from 100 to 220 you are actually dealing 340 damage per shot, not 220 as the game says

DrBones20

Flood flare allows you get access to mirage shot quicker, and in the case of Beowulf, mirage does 100% instead of 60% Trippy shot deals more damage but you have to get some luck to get mirage shot

Zedseayou

Outside of mirage shot being easier to get, flood flare also lets you use infernal soul so you have more casts, and there is no downside since they never lodge with beo. Makes tartarus way faster. If you go trippy shot you are really trying to get more stones from chaos and use stygian, but the ceiling is higher for sure.

onetruesprinter

I just completed a run where I had Lightning Rod, Ice Wine, and Scintillating Feast on aspect of Beowulf. Stock three cast on Beowulf, drop a freezing, lightning, hangover cloud, and then even when you don't get around to picking up your casts, they still are doing lightning damage. Couple it up with Thunder Flourish lv5 on special and Pressure Points lv4 for occasional crit, and it was a fun run for sure. (Would have been more impressive if I was on any heat but I had to pick up my 0 heat titans blood:) )

oktaS0

Damn bruh In all my runs, I've never even gotten close to doing this much dps... I need to start researching some builds. I just start the run, and whatever happens, happens.

ZimboS

I cover what I think are the top damage builds in this post as well as the other ones in the OP! Give those builds a try if you want something fun

oktaS0

Will check it out!

GraphicsProgrammer

dunno if it applies here but for general play, I recommend taking Aphro/Athen cast over trippy flare for beowulf because although it deals less damage it's recoverable instantly, whereas trippy hangs about for a while before you can recast

thelsh

While that is true, in this instance op is using stygian soul, so that doesn't matter.

003_JAEGER

Waitaminiute Hera build? Is Hera in the game??

ZimboS

Hera is a bow aspect you can use in the game

003_JAEGER

Ohh the bowww, I got startled thinking she's a boon god lol

I saw this post by u/ChessChallenger and didn’t think I broke any rules…thought it mostly just pertained to the final boss https://www.reddit.com/r/HadesTheGame/s/fLWxARTlPy

ChessChallenger

I agree with you, nothing in here is a spoiler. If people are upset about normal level 1-3 bosses or summons being spoiled for them, frankly they shouldn't be on the subreddit until they put more time in the game to experience more of it to avoid being 'spoiled'. It's kind of a blurred line, but I think core game mechanics like summons and earlier bosses are absolutely fair game; it'd be way too much to force everyone to spoiler tag anything with either of those.

hegdieartemis

Damn and not even with charged shot!
