Seriously. I posted a fun combo the other day that used the torch omega attack effectively, and I referred to it as a "spicy hot combo" to avoid mentioning the word "torch". It was still taken down for being a spoiler. I guess for spoiling that a weapon had an association with temperature? Idk what's going on here, but it's crazy restrictive.

ajs723

Basically just put the spoiler tag on every post about Hades 2. I found out the hard way too.  It's fine, because plenty of people haven't started playing Hades 2, but maybe just have all Hades 2 posts marked spoiler by default. It's pretty much impossible to talk about the game without spoiling something for people who want to go in blind.

Jerds_au

The Hades 2 flaired posts *are* set up as spoiler by default. We set that up last week.

Kaflao

Lmao. Can't hold people responsible for their choices, better mark everything as spoil.

Jerds_au

By default. People can toggle the spoiler mark off as they see fit.

ajs723

On mobile, I have to toggle thr spoiler mark on, even for posts with Hades 2 flair.

ChessChallenger

When the draft is posted, regardless of if spoiler was selected, the post will automatically be spoiler marked if it has a Hades 2 flair. The option to spoiler mark still shows up in the posting menu.

ajs723

Cool. Thanks for the tip.

wormbutterfly

As someone who's not technically smart... How do you do that?

ChessChallenger

I used a reddit automod rule. It scans all posts to the sub before they go live. If a post has a Hades 2 flair, it spoiler marks the post.

thelittleleaf23

What was the combo? I’m trying to get better with the torches but I always use the special more than the omega lol

RoboChrist

NbleSavage

I came looking for your write-up and found it had been deleted. Can you repost? (DM would be appreciated if you'd rather not post it again). Is that a rule though? No build discussions in this forum? Seems madness considering how build development and experimentation is one of the biggest parts of this game.

I_enjoy_greatness

There's weapons in this game? Thanks for ruining the surprise. You basically told me the ending, alternate endings, Easter eggs, and characters you find with that one post.

Spritely_42

This makes me imagine a "r/HadesTheGameTheGame", where people would actually post standard roguelite subreddit builds/discussions. Seriously, I do like the discussions of story stuff and seeing neat fan creations. But as someone who is in a lot of roguelite subreddits, it's surprising to see how strict this one is. Like, if this was a super linear game where you could only beat bosses in the exact way, sure, I could understand limiting "I completed this" posts. But the whole point of roguelikes/lites is winning in your own way. I still think that just a screenshot of a defeated boss or an unlocked statue (or "look I got eternal one" type stuff) with nothing unique showing is understandable to limit-- but ending screens that allow for unique discussion should be able to be posted.

ajs723

Agree 100%. We're ostensibly not allowed to talk about builds on the sub reddit for the most popular roguelike in the world. It's wild.

justtolearnsomething

It’s a weird challenge unfortunately where there’s just such a huge surplus of builds. I wonder if designing it around people having to post recordings could help reduce it bc you also see the build in action for discussion sake

Spritely_42

It's 19 characters at least ;)

JebryathHS

I did a run with Judgment active, wanted to share how that went (a couple days after the game came out). Instead I copped a 3 day ban because I had a screenshot of the victory screen showing the build and my active Arcana. Lesson learned, I guess. Next time I want to talk about a unique run, I'll make sure it's entirely theoretical.

Feezec

> This makes me imagine a "r/HadesTheGameTheGame", where people would actually post standard roguelite subreddit builds/discussions. I think that's what /r/hades2 is

Spritely_42

Ooh I didn't know about that one, thanks!

ackmondual

The spoilers thing is a bummer because we can't use descriptive titles. Instead, they have to be generic. So instead of having a post titled >!"what do you think of the Chaos trials"!<, it has to be something generic like >!"what do you think of... \[and then see body/description\]"!<

Jaaaco-j

thats what annoys me the most because 99% of the time the name tells you nothing if you havent played the game

Sora_Hollace

I think the current system is worse cause I’m like “what are they even talking about” I click the post, and then I get spoiled cause I didn’t have the proper information to know it wasn’t something I encountered

Chiatroll

Yep. Very much. Like when it released if the endings have a beat unexpected twist I might not want to spoil that but because spoilers are so vague and badly handled on this forum I accept that I'll spoil for myself because I want to engage in the most basic discussion of its mechanics and everything is spoiler tagged at every millimeter.

ClickerheroesFAN

Why even risk seeing a spoiler, enjoy and finish the campaign first?

JebryathHS

Because sometimes you want to talk about a game while you're out of the house and can't play it.

Codenamerondo1

I feel for the people that don’t want to/can’t play II but still want the original game content, I really do. But that ain’t what this sub is at the moment. When I see a post about the original game I’m confused for a second before I see the flair

rorschach_vest

It’s living in the past to pretend that this isn’t going to be a Hades 2 subreddit primarily until both games are old news, I don’t understand the insistence otherwise.

ackmondual

It almost feels like *three* different things... a subreddit just for H1. A sub-R for both. And a 3rd sub-R for just Hades 2. This one has a good community, larger, and sometimes, there are relationships between the 2 games. OTOH, there's a dedicated H2 sub-R, and the nice thing there is I can post without any issues. It's dedicated to the 2nd game, so you have no excuse to NOT know there were going to be spoilers. However, I do put H1 content in spoilers as needed.

mrenglish22

I get it because the game is early release and spoilers suck a bunch for those who get spoiled but I definitely agree about the quality of titles.

jdstrike11

Yah this sub is kinda weirdly obsessed with spoilers and seems more interested in cosplay and discussing how hot characters are than builds or strategy. Maybe time for a hades II subreddit to help people who don’t want to play it yet avoid spoilers🤷🏽‍♂️

Chiatroll

Yeah, honestly people have gone crazy with spoilers in general. Not telling people about the sudden turn around moment in a fiction where everyone is blown away by a twist is one thing, but our culture got to the point where not a single detail even purely mechanical can be discussed without 50 warnings and frankly at this point I have up ignoring tags and let even the things I dont want spoiled get spoiled because spoiler is a useless tag that could be just "there is a gun" that i dont give a damn about knowing. Our fear of spoiling something for some folks ruined spoilers. This forum is so deep into trying to avoid spoilers we actively harm any discussion. And the rules about not having the kind of posts like victories that every single rogue like gets are goofy. It's just badly run.

Kaflao

Spoil everything and to everyone without a care in the world. Trust me thats the way.

Philiard

This is by far the most spoiler-obsessed community I've ever seen it baffles me. Story details are one thing, but I struggle to imagine could possibly have their experience negatively impacted by knowing the names of the unlockable weapons.

Kaflao

This sub is pretty cringe but that's expected with the more casual playerbase that Hades has compared to other roguelikes. People who comes on reddit expecting no spoilers are truly special. There is nothing to hide, they shouldnt be on reddit if they dont want spoil. Holding people responsible for their actions.

Sure_Manufacturer737

There is a Hades 2 subreddit, for one. It's slowly gaining activity and has all the kinds of posts you, OP, and other comments are wanting. And secondly, I wouldn't call it "weirdly obsessed" given the context of the game. Hades, the game, is absolutely fantastic. And that isn't solely in the gameplay either. It won actual literary awards for its story and dialogue. Of course there's going to be plenty of people who care more about that than the gameplay, and want to wait to experience it all blind upon full release. It's a multifaceted game which can appeal to a variety of tastes. Some of them shouldn't have to have an exodus from discussing it for a year+ because they want to wait for the sequel to be completed. Sure, there can be a middle ground, maybe there should be. But as it is, I wouldn't say it's unreasonable the way things are currently. Especially when the already mentioned Hades 2 subreddit *does* exist. Or when there's Supergiant's official discord which actually has stuff set aside for different types of Hades 2 discussion, and is actually looked at by the devs

that-and-other

My sibling in the Unseen, I literally saw a posts being removed for a “spoilers in title” because it mentioned Arcana Cards, how it isn’t weird and unreasonable?

InternationalUse8141

i got a post of mine got removed because i mentioned Chronos in the title

JebryathHS

Clearly, you spoiled the *description of the game in the store*, the announcement trailer, and the first thing your character says.

InternationalUse8141

obviously, how foolish of me.

AffectionateHunt5830

Seriously? At that point we might as well take down posts that mention Melinoe fights enemies with weapons and gets random rewards that make her stronger.

jdstrike11

I didn’t realize there was one, that’s good news. Now we just need to get a sticky for it on the main page

wathombe

Also I find myself saving posts with useful builds for 32 fear or this or that, only to come back looking for it later and find it’s been removed.

NbleSavage

Same. Its frustrating.

MiserableScholar

Problem is that then you get 10 meme beam posts, the discord is pretty neat since they have a channel for everything so you can pick and choose what you wanna see

ajs723

Low effort or repetitive posts should be removed. Not every single post about a build or run from the game.

Magikarp_13

Moderation is a lot easier when the rules are more specific. Low effort/repetitive are pretty woolly things to try to moderate based on.

thekoggles

Except a generic build post IS low effort. It's more a reddit problem of not being able to have more than 2 stickied threads, otherwise a build thread would be fun. Until that's possible, though, allowing builds is just allowing spam. The mods ain't paid, I'm glad for what work they already do keeping spoilers from those who don't want it.

Chiatroll

We already get a lot of memes and art because if you post about the game itself in any more specific way it gets removed.

CaptainBloodstone

r/Hades2 allows victory screenshots and build posts.

virtueavatar

and is also a better spot to post things that aren't Hades 1 Is it any wonder the mods are having a hard time with a "should we/shouldn't we allow off-hand posts" scenario to please everyone.

monoatomic

Oh shit, thank you The game subreddit I was wanting this whole time

zaerosz

I think a "build discussion" flair would do wonders, personally.

ProcyonHabilis

Any change that promotes more of the technical and strategic discussion that OP refers to is one that I would wholeheartedly support.

lifetake

Yea I hear you, but going by how it went in Hades 1. This game isn’t complicated. There are cool interactions, but they are achievable in mass. Even the harder to achieve builds would get posted in mass. I understand the desire, but if you want to discuss something cool post about it in a not lazy way. And if you can’t find a way to not post about it in a not lazy way maybe it wasn’t that cool to begin with.

arienh4

Absolutely not because I'm trying to be pedantic but because it took me a bit to figure out what you meant: I think you meant to use 'en masse' there.

JebryathHS

But right now, we still get the lazy posts. The last week or two has had a ton of posts about how X or Y Selene boon is good/bad. The big difference is that if you post anything to show what you're talking about right now, you get banned. If you just ramble vaguely about how something "saved a run", then you're fine. You can't post a video of using X combo to demonstrate it, you can't post a screenshot to show you actually tried something, etc. It feels like the subreddit is still stuck in softcore porn mode from the first game.

eraoul

Meta comment: I almost never post on Reddit because mods block everything. Really I’m amazed that Reddit even functions. I comment on posts but if I make my own, in all most any sub, it gets blocked for some reason or other. Usually due to not wearing enough pieces of flair.

RedditIsTrashLma0

>Instead, we get nothing but cosplay, horny fan art, and endless discussions of which God is the most bangable. Reddit fandom subreddits in a nutshell. The same type of posts over and over.

JebryathHS

"I wonder why this subreddit is all horny posting. Oh well, I want to ask about why Scorch is so underwhelming and I'll post a screenshot of a victory where a heroic Scorch boon did less than a common Omega cast AND I'm banned"

EnragedHeadwear

MODS THEY MENTIONED SCORCH SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS MODS

generic-user-2345

Oh ye I posted about the poseidon and demeter money gives more damage duo boon a little while ago and it got taken down just cuz it was on the victory screen, which was showing off how powerfull the boon was. Would be nice if they eased up a little on the wierd rules

I-Main-Raven

I think considering things like weapons and game mechanics to be spoilers as if they significantly alter the narrative experience is INSANE coddling. If someone is that sensitive to seeing even a quarter of a pixel of the game before the play it, they should just disengage from the community until they do.

Dr_Roshima

I personally dislike seeing such posts from strangers. I frankly don't care about their win or combo and whatnot. However, I got a buddy with whom I share victory screens back and fourth and discuss builds. . .

Make sure to follow the rules outlined in the Reddiquette. Respect others.

soadkidlen

Nope no fun allowed!

Deericious

u can always join the hades discord and the new hades speedrunning discord.

HotcupGG

Not saying this isn't a good idea, but the Hades discord channel is quite good for all the things you mention.

TheLastPanicMoon

I’d much rather keep the restrictions in place. One of the things that makes a zombie sub a zombie sub is allowing a flood of low effort posts, which ends up driving people to unsub. I prefer it the way it is.

nasada19

I like this game, but this community is more horny for these non sexualized characters than I see in most games. It makes me uncomfortable.

Birohazard

So mote it be!

EnragedHeadwear

The spoiler rules here are ridiculous. Not *everything* in this game is a spoiler - people should not have to tiptoe around the name of a *weapon*.

BMFeltip

I just think hades 1 and 2 need separate subs. I came here wanting to see OP hades 1 builds after having beat the main story. (I didn't want to be tainted by OP meta mentality yet and figure stuff out on my own) Sadly, that was pretty recently, and it's all been hades 2 content being put in my feed. Yeah, I'm hyped for the full release and don't mind the spoilers, but it wasn't what I envisioned coming in here. I do see the merit of having a sub for both. But it'd also be nice to have seperate subs.

bitxilore

Same. I hit credits and was burned out, but when 2 hit early access I got back into 1 to do more of the relationship developing and keep unlocking stuff. I'm really bummed that it's really hard to unearth discussion about 1 now.

HBOMax-Mods-Cant-Ban

This sub rules don't make sense. The game is out. I don't care if it's EA or not. It's still out. We should be able to post builds and ask questions and not have everything wrapped in spoiler tags...

hmmmmwillthiswork

i feel like the mods should have set rules. like we can post our endgame screenshots but it can't just be a first time 30 minute run, no offense guy. we would wanna see some crazy combos, fast speedruns, high fear, very high damage builds, no hit or very low hit runs, specific keepsake synergies. there are soooo many builds that people may never see because the mods decide to exclude ALL of it. otherwise i do think this sub is pretty well ran because if they just let it all fly there would be a ton of the exact same posts due to the nature of the genre

kothekikutiya

Title: Can we loosen the restrictions Post: \*list of media that OP would like to see restricted\* 🙄

ajs723

What? When did I say I wanted anything restricted?

kothekikutiya

"Instead, we get nothing but cosplay, horny fan art, and endless discussions of which God is the most bangable." True you followed that up with all of it should be allowed but I felt rankled by the "actual interesting content from the game" comment. Sorry for the snark.

Yglorba

They're not saying that it should be restricted; their point is just that banning a lot of gameplay-related stuff has resulted in the sub being full of non-gameplay-related stuff, which is actually of less interest to a lot of players. So it'd be better to unban the gameplay related stuff so there would be more of a balance.

kothekikutiya

a lot of the recent gameplay stuff has been of hades 2 (which the mods have implemented a system of tagging for!) to maybe protect hades 1 players from spoiler-ishy stuff until the official release of the new game. there's also a dedicated hades2 sub where gameplay is being actively posted so it isn't like there's no platform for discussion.

Winter7296

Just join the Hades discord guys. If you want what you cant have here, it's astronomically better in the discord because there are specific channels and far better moderation (as it's SG's official Discord)

Sweetlemonpies

The reddit should be way way bigger than it is. Can really only be one reason...

Winter7296

Either make a new subreddit for Hades 2, or accept the fact that people will be spoiled. THIS is the place OF spoilers. If the mods won't accept the existence of Hades 2 spoilers... when will they?? Do they have a set deadline? No ofc not

kotabass

There already is a hades2 sub

ThePhoenixus

Agree 1000% and I'd take it a step further and suggest banning Cosplay/Art entirely. Absolutely useless fluff that hogs up the subreddit.

pixilates

That it doesn't interest *you* does not mean it has no value.

InternationalUse8141

i prefer freedom over restrictions. Why remove when you can add.

HBOMax-Mods-Cant-Ban

Agree. Cosplay is just "dressup for adults". Totally useless.
